Chapter 215: Chapter 148: Senior Sister Plays Junior Sister

’A Sixth Realm Master!?’

He was shaken to the core. He had never imagined that the one coming to meet him would be a Sixth Realm Master.

In the Lu Ban Palace, a Sixth Realm Master was an exalted being who rarely showed themselves. The highest-level cultivator the National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom had ever met was merely a Fifth Realm Elder.

But even a Fifth Realm Jade Balance was not someone you could meet casually.

There was a vast gulf between the Upper Three Realms and the Lower Four Realms.

And now, this Sixth Realm Master had come to see him personally. The National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom was so overwhelmed by the honor that he found himself at a loss for words.

"Gree... gree... greetings, True Master!"

Han Qiu Master said, "Spare the formalities. If you have something to say, say it."

The National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom fell to his knees with a THUD. "I beg you, True Master, save my Dynasty."

"The Miao Yu Palace does not interfere in the dynastic successions of Mortal Dynasties. You should understand this principle."

Whether mortals slaughtered each other, dynasties changed, or coups occurred, the Miao Yu Palace would not intervene.

The National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom gave a bitter laugh. "True Master, I am naturally aware of this principle. If the king were truly unjust and the people rose in rebellion, or if a Prince staged a coup, I would never have come to you for help."

Back then, the National Preceptor of the Glazed Dynasty had no intention of intervening when the Second Prince staged his coup. He only emerged from seclusion after seeing members of the Blood Demon Palace.

"True Master, a Great Divine Power User is interfering with the fate of my Dynasty."

Han Qiu Master frowned. "Why would someone with such power interfere with your Dynasty?"

It was, in fact, an extremely peculiar matter.

Someone capable of controlling an entire nation must have an incredibly high cultivation. And a person with such high cultivation would have no desires or demands concerning a Mortal Dynasty.

Only then did the National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom begin to explain in detail.

"For some unknown reason, Su Minghan, the Eldest Prince of the Glazed Dynasty, suddenly appeared in our kingdom."

About a month ago, Su Minghan suddenly appeared in the capital. He was introduced to the king by a general. No one knows how Su Minghan knew that general, nor does anyone know why he appeared in the capital of the Wei Kingdom.

"That Su Minghan has a strange aura, but my own strength is too meager. I couldn’t discern what was wrong with him."

Han Qiu Master gestured for the National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom to continue.

"But ever since Su Minghan’s arrival, both the king and the generals have become increasingly irritable... Even I often felt muddle-headed. If I hadn’t kept a Clear Heart Pendant from when I left the Sect, I fear I would not have been able to get away."

Recalling something, the National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom said with lingering fear, "A very powerful Cultivator must be controlling the imperial court. But I tried to probe Su Minghan, and he seemed to have no cultivation at all."

Han Qiu Master pondered this, but with too little information, she ultimately came to no conclusion.

This matter required intervention.

The Miao Yu Palace was, after all, a righteous and prestigious sect, but it was currently under lockdown, and its disciples were forbidden from leaving.

Thus, Han Qiu Master could only say, "I cannot draw any conclusions on this matter for now. The palace is still under lockdown..."

The National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom said anxiously, "This cannot be delayed, True Master! Recently, His Majesty has gone mad! He’s talking about attacking the Glazed Dynasty and, what’s more, reclaiming the throne for Su Minghan!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"A few days ago, an urgent report came in saying the Wei Kingdom has dispatched troops to attack our Dynasty."
Su Luoqiu gave a bitter laugh and rubbed the stiff space between his brows. "Third Elder Sister, I’ve been thinking about this for days, and I still can’t figure it out."
The Imperial Palace of the Glazed Dynasty.
Inside the Imperial Palace’s study, dragon’s saliva fragrance burned in the silence, its heavy scent suffusing the air.
The Silver-haired Maiden, holding a fox with fur as red as fire, met with her Imperial Brother.
The Emperor was not sitting on the dragon throne. Instead, he stood, leaning on the desk and sighing at the report in his hands.
"It has nothing to do with me." Su Youwan’s voice was calm and even. "If the two kingdoms go to war, Cultivators are forbidden from interfering. That is an ironclad rule." The fiery-red fox leaped down gracefully, its small paws pattering around the palace hall as it looked this way and that.
"That’s not what I mean, Elder Sister. Do you know how many soldiers the Wei Kingdom has?"
The Silver-haired Maiden shook her head.
Su Luoqiu smiled, a bit sheepishly. "I don’t know either."
"Then what’s the point of you blathering on about it?" a lazy, slightly mocking female voice abruptly rang out.
Su Luoqiu first nodded subconsciously, then reacted with a jolt. His eyes went wide as he pointed at the fox on the floor, his voice cracking. "You... The fox is talking!"
Before he could finish, a red shadow flashed. Mei Zhaozhao leaped up, swift as lightning. Her furry front paw, carrying a bit of force, landed with a light THWACK on the side of Su Luoqiu’s forehead. It didn’t hurt, but it nearly knocked off his crown.
"Don’t be so dramatic!"
Su Youwan grabbed Mei Zhaozhao and pulled her back, gently stroking the soft fur on her back. "So?"
Su Luoqiu, still shaken, adjusted his nearly-dislodged crown. "They probably don’t have as many people as our Glazed Dynasty. But that’s the problem. They have fewer people and their soldiers aren’t as elite as ours, so how dare they attack us? And... it’s just too strange. We’ve always been on fairly good terms with the Wei Kingdom."
’It’s obvious they can’t win. What is the King of Wei thinking? Did he suffer some sudden madness and decide to attack the Glazed Dynasty?’
Mei Zhaozhao said lazily, "Then just send your troops. It’s not like you can’t win."
Su Luoqiu looked distressed. "That’s the problem. I... I don’t want to fight. Such a major incident just happened in Upper Jade Capital, and the Glazed Dynasty has only just caught its breath. To start a war now... and such a bizarre war at that... it’s just not worth it, no matter how you look at it."
Su Youwan’s voice was ethereal. "And?"
Mei Zhaozhao looked at Su Youwan, stunned.
Su Luoqiu paused for a moment, then had no choice but to say, "I can’t hide anything from you, Third Elder Sister. Eldest Imperial Brother has appeared in the Wei Kingdom. When you get down to it, this is our family’s private business. Elder Sister, you should be the one to intervene... If war does break out, the beacons will be lit, bodies will litter the fields, and in the end, it will be the innocent people of both kingdoms who suffer."
The mention of innocent people suffering seemed to move the Silver-haired Maiden.
Su Youwan lowered her gaze, her expression unreadable. "I will take a trip to the Wei Kingdom and see what is going on with Eldest Imperial Brother."
Su Luoqiu breathed a sigh of relief. ’This Eldest Imperial Brother of mine is truly good at hiding,’ he thought. ’He managed to hide all the way in the Wei Kingdom.’
Without Eldest Imperial Brother’s name being used, the country would be much more stable.
"Then I’ll leave it to you, Third Elder Sister."
"Summon the Empress Dowager’s personal handmaiden from back then. I have some questions for her."
Su Youwan already had a plan. The schemes and jealous rivalries in the royal harem were far more brutal than those between Cultivators, and a Consort’s handmaiden would naturally understand these things.
She was, after all, born in the Imperial Palace. Having been immersed in it, she knew clearly that if one really wanted to fight over a man, the methods of palace intrigue were likely the most effective.
By the time Su Youwan finished questioning the handmaiden and learning what she needed, the sky had already grown dark.
Mei Zhaozhao raised a paw. "Can we go to the Demon Race now?"
"First, we’ll go see my Eldest Imperial Brother."
In the darkness of night, a ball of red light sat on a wisp of silver shoulder. "Then it’s settled. After you’re done finding your Eldest Imperial Brother, you’ll go with me to the Demon Race."
Su Youwan hummed softly in agreement.
Mei Zhaozhao yawned. "I really didn’t expect you to have this kind of personality."
"What kind of personality?"
"I’d heard before that the Little Ancestor of the Compassionate Palace practiced Supreme Indifference, that she didn’t care about anything in the world and wasn’t much like a living person."
’I didn’t expect her to be so easy to get along with.’
After a long moment of silence, Su Youwan finally said, "I am a person. How could a person not be like a person?"
’You look as emotionless as a White Jade Bodhisattva,’ Mei Zhaozhao thought. ’How are you the least bit human-like... Besides, can a human even be this beautiful?’
"I also heard that the Compassionate Palace values mortals more than Cultivators."
"Master said that if there were no more Cultivators in the world, the Desire Demon could be completely destroyed."
Mei Zhaozhao tilted her fox head. "Without Cultivators, there would still be cultivating Demon Beasts."
"Then there would be no cultivating Demon Beasts either." Su Youwan looked up at the crescent moon in the sky. "But Master knows that’s impossible, so she was just talking."
The Compassionate Palace had always acted in strange ways, valuing mortals far more than their fellow Cultivators.
"Then wouldn’t you have to kill yourselves too?"
Su Youwan nodded. "Yes. Master said that if she could truly kill all Cultivators, the last one she should kill is herself. In that way, the Desire Demon could be eliminated."
"Your Master is pretty absurd."
Su Youwan did not wish to argue the point. Instead, she said, "The Celestial Dao Grand Competition in the White Realm will be starting soon. Since you’ve turned into a fox, you won’t be able to participate."
Mei Zhaozhao pawed at the ground and huffed. "It has nothing to do with me. I’m no longer on the Hehuan Sect’s roster."
After a moment of thought, Mei Zhaozhao asked, "Do you have feelings for Lu Changyuan?"
Su Youwan said softly, "I don’t know. It’s just that my heart pounds when I see him, and my cultivation progresses very quickly when I’m near him."
Mei Zhaozhao stopped pawing, staring at her with a dumbfounded expression.
