Are There Only Demonesses Left in the Cultivation Realm?
Chapter 214 - 148: Senior Sister Posing as a Junior Sister
Chapter 214: Chapter 148: Senior Sister Posing as a Junior Sister
Normally, if the National Preceptor of this Mortal Realm came seeking an audience, he would be received by an Inner Sect disciple at most.
This was to say nothing of the fact that Miao Yu Palace was currently in seclusion, refusing all visitors.
However, the Wei Kingdom was different—and not just because it was relatively close to Miao Yu Palace.
The primary reason Miao Yu Palace valued the Wei Kingdom was that it was once known as the Great Wei.
And Great Wei once had a town called Huangqi Town. Though it had long turned to dust over the past millennium, the town had once known true glory, for it had produced two exceptionally successful Cultivators.
One was the Miao Yu Palace Master, and the other was the Chang’an Daoist.
Xia Lianxue pondered for a moment, glanced at Lu Changyuan, and then recalled the young physician from so many years ago.
"Han Qiu, go and ask."
Han Qiu Master nodded.
’I can’t keep looking at the Palace Master’s face,’ she thought. ’If I do, that imposing dignity—the dignity of someone who fought through a century of chaos before announcing the founding of her palace to the world—will be completely gone.’
Lu Changyuan, however, was baffled by the Little Fairy’s reproachful stare.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Xia Lianxue mumbled under her breath, "It’s nothing. It just seems you don’t care about the past at all."
’The grave mound I built for Lu Changyuan was made with soil I brought all the way from Great Wei.’
’Back when I was in seclusion there, I’d often wake up, look at that mound of earth, and find the strength to carry on.’
Qiu Yuehan set down her chopsticks and said, "On the contrary, I think he’s quite nostalgic."
"Senior Sister?"
"If he wasn’t nostalgic, why would he have helped Mei Zhaozhao?"
’Haven’t we moved past this already?’
A jolt of alarm went through Lu Changyuan. He looked at Qiu Yuehan in astonishment, but the Moon Fairy wasn’t facing him, so he couldn’t see her face.
’Where did she learn to talk like this?’
’Su Youwan?’
’But Qiu Yuehan doesn’t even know Su Youwan well.’
"Sir?" Xia Lianxue’s voice took on a dangerous edge.
Qiu Yuehan added, "Besides, if he weren’t nostalgic, why would he eat a bowl of plain noodles every New Year? Junior Sister, you should know. On the day he took me home after I was gravely injured, he cooked me a pot of plain noodles. The only side dish was pickled radish."
"Sir?!"
The Little Fairy, who had only just calmed down, felt her temper flaring up again for no apparent reason.
Lu Changyuan glanced at the table, picked up a pastry, and stuffed it into the Little Fairy’s mouth. With a deadpan expression, he said, "Bu Bailian rendered a great service to the Human Race. It’s nothing to look after her disciple."
’I could hardly admit it was because that stupid fox, Mei Zhaozhao, was so perceptive.’
"Eating noodles is just a habit from the past. I’ll just stop eating them from now on. Tang’Er’s cooking is much better anyway."
The Little Fairy chewed on the pastry, her words muffled.
’He’s praising my cooking!’
Lu Changyuan said with a straight face, "Dwelling on the past is a sign of weakness. You should look to the future more."
After they finished eating, the Little Fairy said as she cleared the dishes, "I have to go repair the palace’s Mountain Defense Array."
Miao Yu Palace’s original Grand Array had been built with the Celestial Purity Dao Lotus as its foundation. But after Han Ze Master secretly refined the lotus for himself, the array lost its anchor. It was then besieged by the Three Palaces and eventually dissipated completely.
The Little Fairy had drawn on the lingering aura of past time to temporarily construct an array. For ten years, it would make the flow of time and the concentration of Spiritual Qi within Miao Yu Palace different from the outside world.
But this was not a true Mountain Defense Array, after all.
Rebuilding the Mountain Defense Array for real would be incredibly troublesome, as a second Celestial Purity Dao Lotus could not be found in this age.
This troubled Xia Lianxue, so all she could do was try to patch up the Grand Array bit by bit each day.
Although the array of the Celestial Purity Dao Lotus was gone, Miao Yu Palace still possessed the Dharma for another Grand Array—the very one that the Chang’an Daoist had shattered back then.
Something was better than nothing.
Lu Changyuan and Qiu Yuehan watched the Little Fairy ascend into the sky. She prodded and poked at the air around her, streams of the Time Dao flowing up and down at her command.
With Xia Lianxue preoccupied, Qiu Yuehan moved to stand before Lu Changyuan. To an outside observer, it looked as if she was about to lean back into his arms.
Only then did Lu Changyuan ask, "Why did you change into a white dress?"
’I’m so used to seeing her in black; the white feels a little strange.’
It was just a casual question.
To his surprise, Qiu Yuehan replied, "You seemed to enjoy yourself quite a bit when Junior Sister was impersonating me, didn’t you?"
’Did I enjoy myself?’
Lu Changyuan had no memory of being particularly happy about it.
"So?"
"So now it’s my turn." The Fairy’s soft hand reached out from behind her back, secretly parting her own skirt to press against Lu Changyuan.
The Mark of Yu grew hot.
Lu Changyuan glanced up at Xia Lianxue, who was still in the sky, and nervously reached to grab Qiu Yuehan.
Unexpectedly, the Moon Fairy’s voice took on a seductive edge. "You must be fair to everyone, Sir."
’While the Little Fairy was still up in the sky repairing the Grand Array, she was actually mimicking her tone of voice.’
Lu Changyuan finally managed to grab the Fairy’s small, cold hand. "We’re still outside."
"Even better, then, Sir," the usually cool and collected Fairy said in a soft voice.
And who said the Moon Fairy didn’t have a vengeful streak?
After Xia Lianxue had forced her to watch the "show" for so long, wasn’t she allowed a turn on stage herself?
Qiu Yuehan’s white dress was very long, providing just enough cover. If the real Little Fairy in a White Skirt in the sky didn’t look too closely, she probably wouldn’t notice a thing.

Han Qiu Master rushed to the foot of the stairs, taking two steps at a time.
Atop the mountain steps, the National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom was kneeling with his head bowed, muttering, "I beg Immortal Master Miao Yu to save my kingdom."
He had known Miao Yu Palace was in seclusion when he arrived, but with no other options, his only choice was to beg for their help.
"What is it?"
The world spun around him.
When the National Preceptor of the Wei Kingdom opened his eyes again, he was already inside a side hall of Miao Yu Palace.
