Chapter 154: Chapter 119: Qiu Yuehan Wants to Learn Swordsmanship

As a light snow began to fall from the sky, blanketing the whole of Celestial Mountain in a hazy white, a gauze-covered sedan chair came to a stop before the Daoist Sect.

Qiu Yuehan stepped out of the sedan chair, her face devoid of expression. She let out a long breath, and the plume of white vapor that rose from her lips revealed that while the Moon Fairy’s expression was icy, her body was quite warm.

Not long ago, she had pretended to awaken from a long slumber.

Lu Changyuan and Xia Lianxue had already cleaned up the mess, but to make her act convincing, she still asked her junior sister a question. "Junior Sister, is there some sort of strange smell?"

Xia Lianxue simply looked at her with a smile, not saying a word.

This made Qiu Yuehan too embarrassed to press the matter further.

The moment she recalled witnessing the process of pounding the rice cakes, even the Moon Fairy, who always used the Supreme Pure Spirit Forget Immortal Technique to steady her mind, couldn’t help but feel her cheeks flush red.

She cultivated the Red Dust Sword Dao, not Lu Changyuan’s Emotionless Dao, so she wouldn’t end up like the Chang’an Daoist in the future. Besides, she was now wondering, ’Is pounding rice cakes also a part of the Red Dust?’

’How annoying.’

"Senior Sister? Why have you stopped moving?"

The Little Fairy’s gentle voice drifted over. Her cheeks were as rosy as peonies in the snow, bright and captivating.

Qiu Yuehan chose to ignore her junior sister’s charming appearance and turned to Lu Changyuan. "There’s something I want to ask you."

Lu Changyuan looked at Qiu Yuehan, confused.

The Moon Fairy asked, "Can a person cultivate two Daos at the same time?"

’At first, I thought Qiu Yuehan had recovered her memories,’ Lu Changyuan mused. But then he relaxed. ’If the Nether Monarch had truly returned, she’d be fighting the Little Fairy, not blushing silently while watching them pound rice cakes.’

As for cultivating two Daos at once, Lu Changyuan was the only one who truly had the right to speak on the matter.

Generally speaking, a Cultivator could only focus on a single Dao, and this was even more true at higher levels of Cultivation. To divide one’s mind was a path to certain death. Besides, one could only have a single Yao Guang Technique.

The reason Lu Changyuan cultivated two Daos was because he had fused them into a single Yao Guang Technique: the Supreme Pure Spirit Forget Immortal Technique.

And it was precisely because this was his personal Yao Guang Technique that even though Lu Changyuan had passed the Supreme Pure Spirit Forget Immortal Technique to the Daoist Sect Master and Qiu Yuehan, neither of them would be able to reach the final Supreme Realm.

The Supreme is exclusive to the Yao Guang Cultivator, the Chang’an Daoist.

It was the same for the Nether Monarch. The Netherworld was her Yao Guang Technique.

Although Qiu Yuehan could cultivate the Red Dust Sword Dao now, if she were to attempt Ascending Yao Guang in the future, she would face the problem of already possessing a Yao Guang Technique.

’So what’s the solution?’

’She can’t just shatter the Netherworld, can she?’

Lu Changyuan narrowed his eyes. "The suffering of death within the Red Dust already has some overlap with the Path of Death. When the time comes, you can just fuse it into your own domain."

’If the Netherworld’s Path of Death were to be infused with Red Dust Intent, what would happen to those Spirits...?’

’I daren’t even imagine it.’

’Spirits devoid of the air of the living, infused with the abundant vitality of Red Dust Intent... The Cultivation Realm might see the birth of a true monster.’

Lu Changyuan sized up Qiu Yuehan.

’It’s fine.’

’She’s on our side.’

The Moon Fairy tucked her long, black hair behind her ear and said softly, "So they weren’t dreams after all. You remember, too."

?

’Weren’t you just asking about Cultivation? Why the sudden swerve into asking if memories are real? Who corrupted this Cold Fairy?’

A slight smile touched Qiu Yuehan’s lips. "Junior Sister, you two go on back. I’m going to make another trip to the Mortal Dynasty to buy a few things."

Lu Changyuan was stunned. All he could do was watch as the figure in the black dress walked away, step by step, toward Celestial Mountain.

"Lu Changyuan?"

A chilly voice rose from behind Lu Changyuan. "Between you and Senior Sister, besides that Demon Pattern... are there other things I don’t know about?"

Lu Changyuan remained expressionless, schooling his features so the Little Fairy wouldn’t notice anything was amiss.

"I’m just going to teach her Swordsmanship, that’s all."

The Little Fairy in a White Skirt smiled gently. "Really?"

"When have I ever lied to you?"

"Hmph!"

Whenever Lu Changyuan said that, Xia Lianxue knew not to press the issue. It was a tacit understanding between them.

"I won’t go inside."

’The Daoist Sect Master is on Celestial Mountain,’ he thought. ’Going in could be a death sentence.’ Before the words were even out of his mouth, a figure in red appeared in his line of sight.

Jiang Jiayi’s voice drifted over. "You can come in. She’s not here."

’The Daoist Sect Master isn’t here?’

Lu Changyuan frowned. "What did she go to do?"

"A few days ago, the Desire Demon stirred and half of its body descended. She charged into the Beyond the Heavens and has yet to return."

That was right when Lu Changyuan had his magical combat with the Desire Demon.

Lu Changyuan asked blankly, "Then why hasn’t she come back?"

Jiang Jiayi seemed to be grinding her teeth, but the thought that she could now replace the Daoist Sect Master and reclaim what was rightfully hers made her hope the woman would stay away for a few more days.

"I don’t know either, but you can go back to Celestial Mountain and take a look now."

’Then I’ll go back and take a look,’ he decided.

The peaks outside the main Celestial Mountain were already filled with a festive atmosphere. Red lanterns hung from the wooden pavilions, and if one looked closely, sect disciples could be seen pasting hand-written couplets on the doors.

If you didn’t look too closely, you’d never guess this was the White Realm’s strongest Sect. There was hardly a trace of the transcendent detachment expected of cultivators; the air of the Red Dust was simply too thick.

The scene dazzled Lu Changyuan.

’This is really nice,’ he thought.

Jiang Jiayi said softly, "The new year is almost here. Per your instructions, aside from those in seclusion, all other Cultivators will rest for a few days. They’ll resume their Cultivation after the New Year’s Eve celebration."

Lu Changyuan smiled. "That’s very good. Cultivators are still human, just as mortals are human. Everyone needs to give themselves a moment to breathe."

Back when he was still a mortal, the one thing Lu Changyuan looked forward to most was the new year. He would wait and wait, and then it would arrive, bringing with it a warm hearth, sweet tangerines, pastries, and candy. In the hazy glow of the fire, he could almost taste the memories of years gone by.
