Chapter 141: Chapter 113: The Descent of the Celestial Dao Title
Kill.
Kill, kill, kill.
Lu Changyuan’s killing intent flooded the horde of monsters. It made no distinction between friend or foe, superior or subordinate. Kill!
Under the influence of his sword strike, the horde of monsters broke free from the Blood Demon’s control. They began to slaughter each other, and some even lunged at the Blood Demon itself.
These Blood Monsters, born of the Blood Demon’s Transformed Life, couldn’t harm their creator, but they became a true nuisance, at the very least slowing the Blood Demon’s advance.
Meanwhile, Lu Changyuan had already used the momentum of his sword to flee into the distance.
The seashore was just ahead.
The seawater lapped against the shore, the sound of the rising and falling tide echoing in his ears. A faintly salty sea breeze blew against his face.
The rain was still falling.
CRASH!
The waves grew larger. Turbulent surf churned and crashed against the rocks, splashing Lu Changyuan’s face. In the distance, Long Mountain was indistinct in the rain, giving it the appearance of an Immortal Mountain.
"Last time, you said I was your trump card. This time, it’s really all on me."
The moon in the sky suddenly turned blood-red. The scent of blood abruptly rose from the sea, and wails and cries echoed from all directions.
Lu Changyuan gave a faint, wry smile.
He leaned on Broken Thought, resting against a rock by the sea. He remembered the first time he saw Qiu Yuehan. Back then, two Cultivators from the Blood Demon Palace had been chasing them. This time, it was the Blood Demon itself.
’History really does repeat itself.’
"I’m out of tricks," he muttered. "I had one last time, but now I’m truly out of options."
Last time, he still had a final sword strike, and he was only facing a few Cultivators from the Blood Demon Palace. This time, he was up against a Sixth Realm Blood Demon.
Lu Changyuan leaned against the rock. From the blood-colored forest, a crawling sound emerged—the insect swarm had arrived.
It sounded as if something was being torn to shreds, then bloodily devoured, until the noises settled into the rhythmic squirming of countless gnawing things.
Rainwater splattered against the worms, staining the ground red. Lu Changyuan narrowed his eyes and wiped the water from his face. Then he carefully positioned the girl to shelter her from the rain.
The Blood Demon was moments away.
The reflection of monsters with mouths full of densely packed teeth filled Lu Changyuan’s eyes, and the alarm bells of a life-and-death crisis screamed in his mind.
He did not move.
He simply said,
"Stop watching and lend a hand. You’re not going to let her and me really die here, are you?"
A charming and melodious voice soon replied.
"Not bad at all, my Little Lifebound Spirit."
A colossal fox tail blotted out the sky. In a single moment, it swept aside the dense swarm of insects.
Wine-red hair flowed under the moon. She was a Fox Woman with fluffy fox ears and a large tail.
Her stunning, almond-shaped eyes held a soul-stealing charm, as if a single glance could snatch away a person’s very soul. But what was most captivating were her lips—a mesmerizing shade of tender red that made even Lu Changyuan stare, momentarily stunned.
Like dew on a plum blossom, a mouth of rouged sandalwood.
Beautiful arms with a hint of softness, the slender waist of a palace dancer, and the allure of a bone-scraping blade.
Under the blood moon, the surroundings should have been pitch-black, yet her mere presence seemed to brighten the area.
The Red Fox was carrying a massive bear’s head in one hand. She was also wounded; it seemed she had only just arrived and hadn’t had time to tend to her injuries.
The fox’s voice was like the bewitching sound of a pipa. She said, "The Blood Race truly is... disgusting."
A longbow appeared in the fox’s hands. With a twitch of her fox ears, a Great Sun suddenly materialized on the bow.
Lu Changyuan looked at the bow. ’I feel like I’ve seen this before,’ he thought, ’but I can’t be bothered to remember where.’
He watched as she drew the bowstring taut. There was a shatter of light and shadow, and an instant later, a massive explosion boomed in the distance. The arrow had no trajectory; it was as if one moment it was in the Red Fox’s hand, and the next it was detonating far away. It seemed the concepts of time and space could not bind this arrow, which was why no one could see its path.
’In other words... Karma?’
Lu Changyuan couldn’t be sure, but it certainly had that feel to it.
After the arrow landed, the entire forest burst into a raging inferno. The downpour from the sky was momentarily unable to extinguish the blaze, and the rising steam shrouded everything in a hazy mist.
Lu Changyuan let out a sigh of relief.
’This fox is pretty strong. We should be safe now.’
The moment that thought crossed his mind, the huge, fluffy fox tail curled around both Lu Changyuan and the Nether Monarch.
"Don’t move."
Of course, Lu Changyuan didn’t move. He was exhausted and just wanted to get some sleep. And this fluffy fox tail really did seem like it would make a great pillow.
He said wearily, "You can’t beat it? If you can’t beat it, we should run."
The Red Fox retorted irritably, "What are you talking about? Of course I can beat it!"
"Then why are you running?"
"Because that thing isn’t easy to kill. Fighting it here is pointless. We’re going to Long Mountain first. We need to use Long Mountain to kill it."
The Red Fox was in the Sixth Realm, as was the Blood Demon. They were evenly matched, but that didn’t mean the Red Fox could kill the Blood Demon. She couldn’t afford to drag this out. If they waited until the Celestial Dao Title descended and the Blood Demon entered the Yao Guang realm, things would become even more troublesome.
The Blood Demon began to gradually stain the coastal waters red. It looked as if countless people had died upon the waves, their blood and flesh polluting the sea and releasing an overwhelming stench.
Before long, traveling at full speed with the power of a Sixth Realm expert, Lu Changyuan and the Nether Monarch soon arrived at Long Mountain Peak.
The Red Fox’s large tail moved, and Lu Changyuan was set down. He asked in confusion, "What are we doing here?"
"The Nether Monarch left something here."
No person or beast had ever lived on Long Mountain Peak. This was because a poisonous fog perpetually shrouded the summit, and Long Mountain itself was on an island in the sea, making it naturally remote and deserted.
