Chapter 110 - 92: Shattered Glass Everywhere
Chapter 110: Chapter 92: Shattered Glass Everywhere
“Does this damn thing have any intelligence, damn it!”
Zhang Su was stunned to see the zombie smashing the glass. How could a zombie produce the Hundred Eyed Ape effect?
“No worries, no worries, this glass is reinforced…”
Crash!
Just as Tan Huajun was about to praise the quality of the glass, he saw the cracks suddenly expand after a strong zombie headbutted it, and immediately the glass shattered all over the ground!
Howl oo oo oo.
The zombie’s roar penetrated directly into everyone’s ears without the glass barrier, extremely shocking. The zombie nearest to the glass was squeezed to the ground by its kind behind, while the ones at the back stepped on the bodies of their kind to squeeze into the convenience store!
It was like the devils from hell pouring into the human world through cracks.
The goods placed next to the glass curtain wall instantly scattered all over the ground, causing the scene to spiral out of control.
“Retreat! Quick! Run out through the back door!”
Zhang Su shouted, throwing an empty shelf taller than a person towards the zombies behind him.
With a series of chaotic noises, the empty shelf, though not heavy, effectively blocked the zombies’ steps.
“What about him, Brother Su?”
Kuang Miao pointed to the big fat man on the ground, none other than Master Zhao, whom he and Chen Hanzhou had just dragged in.
“Ah… quick, quick, help!”
At the same time, a man curled up in the corner screamed, watching helplessly as the devil-like zombies staggered into the convenience store, unable to move with his hands and feet tied, his face turning green with fear.
However, the girl in his arms still hung her head low, as if the outside world collapsing had nothing to do with her, appearing very strange.
Zhang Su drew out the machete and swiftly cut through the plastic ties binding the two, picking up the backpack he had previously thrown to divert attention, and said to Kuang Miao, “Push him behind the counter and let fate decide!”
The man broke free and, supporting the woman, ran towards the back door. As he passed Master Zhao, he halted, “Him… we must take him with us!”
“You take him yourself, this fat guy is damn heavy!”
Kuang Miao and Chen Hanzhou exerted all their strength to drag Master Zhao behind the counter, but before they could finish, a shout echoed.
“Untie me, hurry up, you sons of bitches!”
Perhaps sensing the danger approaching, Master Zhao surprisingly woke up at this critical moment, yet he seemed unaware of the real danger, glaring angrily at Kuang Miao and Chen Hanzhou, mistakenly thinking these guys were robbing him.
Zhang Su, who had already run to the office, heard Master Zhao’s shout and returned to the convenience store. Seeing the zombies pushing away the shelves and coming towards them, he extended the ax in his hand to the middle of Master Zhao’s ankles and swiftly severed the ropes binding them.
“Get him up!”
“Oh oh!”
Kuang Miao immediately grabbed Master Zhao’s collar to help him stand up.
“Damn it, my hands, my hands! Oh my god…zombies!”
With his hands tied behind his back, Master Zhao stood up, ready to curse, but turned his head to see a zombie less than two meters away. Turning again, the others were already gone, and he ran screaming in panic!
Tan Huajun, most familiar with the layout, dashed to the back door first, saying to Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan, “Get ready, opening the door!”
With that, she yanked the door open.
Howl!
As expected, zombies were blocking the doorway.
Zhong Xiaoshan had anticipated this situation, and without a word, delivered a kick. Unfortunately, there wasn’t just one but two zombies tightly pressed against each other, causing her kick to only push the zombies half a step back.
“Let me knock them out!”
Zheng Xinyu remembered Zhang Su’s method of tackling zombies, shouted out, took a running start, and charged out, her chest pack slamming heavily into the zombie’s chest!
Thud.
The result met Zheng Xinyu’s expectations; even with two zombies standing closely together, her impact made them stagger back several steps, and she steadied herself with the recoil.
Yet before she could take further action, a sharp shout was heard!
“Duck!”
With that shout, a crescent wrench swung through the air, flying over Zheng Xinyu’s head, striking the face of the zombie Old Liu who was sneaking up on her with a splat.
Howl oo oo!
The zombie yelped and staggered back two steps, before it could recover, a caliper’s measuring jaw was already upon it!
Zheng Xinyu, crouching down, stood up propping herself with a baseball bat, nodding gratefully to Zhong Xiaoshan, having no time to rest as the zombies she had knocked back extended their arms again, their mandibles shaking side to side, with teeth like meat grinders.
The middle-aged man, protecting the woman, dashed out the back door, only to see the three women dealing with zombies, hurriedly placing the woman in a corner and joining the fight.
Even though two zombies faced by Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan were not difficult to handle, with the addition of Tan Huajun and the middle-aged man, it became exceedingly easy, and it took just a short time to dispose of the two zombies!
“Uncle, your weapon is way too lame!”
After taking care of two zombies, Zheng Xinyu panted heavily and looked at the middle-aged uncle’s rolling pin with utmost speechlessness. It was sturdy, hadn’t fallen apart despite hitting zombies for quite a while, and judging by the bloodstains on it, it had clearly been used for some time.
“Hurry, speed up! Damn it, run faster!”
At this moment, Zhang Su also ran out from the back door, naturally followed by Kuang Miao and Chen Hanzhou, along with a bulky figure trailing behind, obviously the tied-up Master Zhao, and behind him were the chasing zombies!
“My hands, my hands are tied, I can’t run fast, damn it, you bunch of bastards!”
Master Zhao was moving awkwardly, sweating with anxiety. He knew zombies were chasing him, but the more anxious he became, the more likely things would go wrong. He had even tripped earlier, and if Chen Hanzhou hadn’t helped him, he might have ended up finished in there.
“You useless punk!”
Zhang Su waited by the door, and as Master Zhao approached, he grabbed and threw him forward, nearly tossing him out the door. Then, as quick as lightning, he slammed the door shut. Immediately, a series of thudding noises sounded from behind the door, and the metal door shook violently.
Three bicycles appeared at the gas station exit. Lu Yubo glanced inside, stunned. The area around the gas pumps was empty, but the convenience store’s glass facade was shattered, revealing zombies roaming freely inside!
In a flash, he saw Zhang Su and his group at the side door and quickly rode towards the back door with Pei Lan and Song Yijun.
Lu Yubo’s clothes and cheeks were smeared with blood, and he had a food sample extractor slung across his chest. Riding close, he ditched the bike and looked at Zhang Su, then at the three inexplicably appearing people, and asked.
“Brother Su, what the heck is going on?”
Zhang Su’s face was livid, and he angrily replied, “Three idiots rushed into the gas station ahead of us. Those fools didn’t even try to kill the zombies, thinking they’d be safe hiding in the store. But the zombies smashed the glass!”
If it were him leading the team and seeing over thirty zombies lingering, he’d definitely use the terrain and every means to eliminate them all, as leaving them would be a hidden threat!
“Damn you idiots!”
Lu Yubo got furious after hearing this. He had taken a huge risk to lure over a hundred zombies into a trap, only for these three idiots to wreck the convenience store.
He jumped up to hit the tied-up Master Zhao.
“Deal with the zombies first, we’ll figure them out later!”
Zhang Su quickly restrained Lu Yubo.
Master Zhao was no longer as aggressive as before, now at their mercy and couldn’t act tough. He shrank his head and said, “Big brother, untie me, I’ll help kill the zombies too!”
“Get lost! We don’t need your help! Nor yours either!”
Zhang Su shoved the fat man against the wall, interrupting the uncle, then tied up the weak woman again, and told Zheng Xinyu, “Anyone causing trouble, kill them on the spot!”
His fierce demeanor made everyone’s heart skip a beat; it was clear he was genuinely angry.
“Leave it to me! Heh…”
Zheng Xinyu flashed a mischievous smile. Since following Zhang Su in the apocalypse, her mindset had shifted quickly, casting aside previous constraints.
This is precisely why Zhang Su trusted Zheng Xinyu with the task.
Master Zhao, fallen in the corner, was teary-eyed. He thought he was tough, but who would’ve expected to encounter a group of ruthless people…
“We won’t move, please don’t kill us, we are good people!”
The uncle tightly shielded the woman, who was in poor condition.
The woman with a wrapped head remained silent, leaning quietly against the man as if she wouldn’t mind if zombies came nearby.
“Everyone except Zheng Xinyu, follow me!”
Zhang Su gestured broadly, gathering everyone toward the front door of the convenience store.
Pei Lan hesitated to move, clutching a fruit knife, but Lu Yubo came back to drag her along, and she reluctantly joined the group.
“Most zombies are crowding the office and backdoor corridor. Let’s use our old method: lure them out and take them down slowly. Don’t charge in recklessly; follow my lead!”
Zhang Su peeked around the store’s wall and turned to instruct everyone.
Behind him, everyone nodded in agreement, whether they understood or not.
Zhang Su said no more and went to the convenience store’s main entrance, knocking on the metal door frame with his ax hammer.
Inside the store, five or six zombies, initially heading towards the office, turned their shaky bodies toward Zhang Su’s group, paused for about two seconds, and then staggered in their direction.
“Look how stupid these guys are; as long as you’re not stupid yourself, they are so easy to kill!”
Zhang Su stood outside, waiting leisurely, not rushing, simply waiting for zombies to walk into their trap while keeping an eye on the situation behind him.
Roar.
With mechanical steps, the zombies struggled over the scattered goods and shelves to crawl out of the convenience store, only to meet blades and spikes once they finally squeezed their bodies out of the glass facade.
Thud, thud, thud!
Zhang Su didn’t even need to lift a finger; Lu Yubo, Tan Huajun, and Zhong Xiaoshan took down three, and Kuang Miao and Chen Hanzhou seemed unfazed, swinging their weapons directly at the zombies’ heads.
Only Song Yijun and Pei Lan were uncomfortable, witnessing the splattering brains, and even ran aside to the gas pump to vomit. Unfortunately, due to their empty stomachs, they only retched some bile.
