Chapter 109: Chapter 91: Accidents One After Another (End of Ten Thousand Words)

The people inside the convenience store immediately noticed Zhang Su and his group’s actions, and they realized that there must be a rear exit here, so they also started running towards the direction of the employee office, only to trip on something and fall!

“Brother Su, they’re going to block the rear door!”

Tan Huajun, who was most familiar with the situation at the gas station, saw the movements of the store’s people and immediately understood their intentions, quickly speaking out a warning.

“Damn it!”

Zhang Su cursed angrily, instinctively glancing at the nearby van, but then quickly dismissed the idea of driving through the convenience store’s door.

“Charge in with all your might!”

Zhang Su assessed the situation; currently, the convenience store had become the only effective barrier against the zombies. Driving through it would not only risk damaging the vehicle, but leave them all with no retreat.

No sooner said than done, Zhang Su passed his axe to his left hand and swiftly drew out the kukri from its sheath, hacking at the zombies charging towards him with wide, sweeping motions, since he had a backpack as a shield on his chest, he wasn’t afraid…

The sturdy and sharp kukri is a deadly weapon, but requires some precision when killing zombies. Ideally, it’s best to directly decapitate them; if that’s not possible, go for their heads. This is also why Zhang Su preferred not to use the kukri against zombies!

At this moment, there was no time for such concerns; Zhang Su’s kukri whirled wildly in his hand, the force of his run combined with the blade’s sharpness, caused the zombie’s head to instantly fly off upon contact, while his left hand’s axe and hammer didn’t rest either, delivering a solid blow to the chest of the zombie attacking from the side following his body’s rotation.

“Cover my back!”

With that said, Zhang Su took the lead and ran towards the rear door!

The decapitated zombie immediately fell to the ground, its head rolling away but still alive, gnashing its teeth terrifyingly, while the zombie with a chest blow only staggered back three steps…

However, just as it went berserk trying to rush forward to punish the foolish humans who didn’t know their place, bam!

A sturdy vernier caliper latched deeply into its left eye socket, and the zombie instantly went limp, collapsing to the ground.

Zheng Xinyu and the other two women weren’t to be trifled with; they knew how dire the situation was—if the convenience store got completely blocked by the other side, they’d have no choice but to fight to the death, significantly increasing the danger.

Kuang Miao and Chen Hanzhou also went berserk; the stench and flying blood stimulated the nerves of the two young men, their weapons constantly swung, not necessarily delivering fatal blows to zombies but certainly drawing their attention.

The five of them working together created an opportunity for Zhang Su, allowing him not to worry about being ambushed from behind by Old Liu zombies!

Getting to the building’s side, as Zhang Su saw the rear door, a stout, bearded man inside was just about to shut it!

“The stuff is all ours, goodbye!”

The bearded man shouted fiercely, swinging the door closed.

“You’re asking for it!”

Zhang Su charged forward, kicking fiercely at the door.

Bang!

The combined weight of his two large backpacks, totaling two hundred sixty or seventy pounds, instantly shattered the fragile door lock under huge impact…

The metal door swung open with a bang, smacking the bearded man so hard he was disoriented.

“Ah!”

The bearded man gave a dreadful scream, retreating a few steps before sitting onto the ground.

“Master Zhao! Are you okay… Oh no!”

Another middle-aged man rushed into the rear door hallway, just about to assist the oversized Master Zhao, when he saw a dark shadow opposite raising a hand, throwing something towards him, terrified he immediately shrank back.

There was no way Zhang Su would stand still at the door after kicking it open; once he adjusted to the dark environment, he followed through into the hallway.

Throwing his axe to force back the man coming to aid, he stepped forward and stomped on the wrist of the bearded man holding a knife, but the man had good resilience and stubbornly refused to drop the knife.

“You little punk, I’m gonna kill…”

Bam!

Master Zhao was laying on the ground, still spewing threats when a heavy kick knocked him unconscious.

“Tie him up!”

Zhang Su sensed the change in light, knowing his companions had arrived at the rear door; he ordered without looking back and charged forward. He needed to secure the convenience store quickly, as Lu Yubo and the others would soon return!

Picking up the axe off the ground, Zhang Su pushed open the door between the office and hallway, entering the office where he initially found Tan Huajun; it was still the same, cartons of mineral water were scattered messily on the floor.

His ears kept twitching, trying to pick up some useful clues from the chaotic environment.

Footsteps scraping, zombie roars, door pounding…

There were simply too many miscellaneous noises; he couldn’t distinguish any useful information from them.

Trying to recall, Zhang Su wasn’t sure if this group had any ranged weapons, so he took off his backpack and threw it into the convenience store.

Bang…

The stone-throwing test was effective; a wine bottle smashed against the wall!

“I’m warning you not to come any closer, or I’ll, I’ll, I’ll smash you!”

A panicked voice sounded inside the store, accompanied by another wine bottle.

However, when the man wanted to grab another wine bottle, he saw a figure dart out from the door at an astonishing speed, as if knowing the terrain here intimately, leaping directly onto a circular display cabinet, and then pouncing towards him.

“No, don’t kill me, we surrender, surrender!”

With a clang, the wine bottle in the man’s hand fell to the ground, and the sturdy bottle spun without shattering. He immediately crouched down to shield a woman, surprised that the intruder was so fierce, taking advantage of the wine bottle smashing gap to rush out, agile in jumps, completely beyond his resistance.

Zhang Su, of course, was familiar with the layout of the convenience store. After all, he’d stayed here for half a day planning to spend the night, had specifically studied the internal layout, and even made a detailed modification plan, though he hadn’t used it.

Holding a bloodstained dog’s leg and an axe hammer, Zhang Su looked like a killing deity. He turned his head towards the door; a dozen or so zombies were crowding and pounding against the glass door, which, from the current situation, showed no signs of breaking, though he didn’t know if it would hold.

After observing that the situation was temporarily without anomalies, Zhang Su had time to look at the two people curled up in the corner.

An elderly man, appearing over fifty, with some gray in his disheveled short hair, holding a young woman in his arms. Even though she was dressed like a ball with clothes wrapped around her head, she was still trembling, unclear if from cold or fear, burying her face in the man’s chest, her appearance unseen.

Judging by their ages, it was highly likely they were father and daughter.

Splat.

Zhang Su opened his backpack, pulled out a few plastic zip ties, and threw them on the ground, coldly saying, “Tie your wrists and ankles together!”

“Uh… okay, okay, I’ll tie, I’ll tie!”

The older man hesitated for only two seconds before quickly releasing the woman in his arms, crawling forward a few steps to pick up the zip ties, first gently tying the woman’s hands and feet, then tying his own, even wiggling towards Zhang Su to show he had obediently complied.

“Husband, are you okay?”

Zheng Xinyu entered the convenience store, saw Zhang Su looking towards the door, and quickly approached to inquire.

Zhong Xiaoshan and Tan Huajun followed closely behind into the convenience store, and at the end were Chen Hanzhou and Kuang Miao, each carrying a leg, dragging the unconscious Master Zhao in as well.

“I’m fine!”

Zhang Su responded and, seeing that they were covered in filth, but with gradually calming expressions showing no injuries, said to everyone, “We need to clear what’s outside!”

Upon hearing Zhang Su’s words, everyone wasn’t surprised, knowing they still had companions who hadn’t returned!

Lu Yubo was drawing zombies into a trap nearby, and by the time, he should soon close it and come over, while now the convenience store was surrounded by twenty to thirty zombies, making it impossible to get in or out—a very awkward situation!

No one said much, just nodded heavily in agreement.

Twenty to thirty zombies aren’t few, but with proper planning and teamwork, it’s not an insurmountable challenge.

“We can’t go through the front door; when you came in, what was the situation at the back door?”

Zhang Su picked up a packet of tissues, tore it open, wiped the dog’s leg, and sheathed it.

“We killed a few, but three zombies followed us and are blocked outside!”

Zhong Xiaoshan briefly explained the situation.

“That’s not many; we’ll fight our way out through the back door, as for the front door…”

Crack!

Zhang Su hadn’t finished speaking when they heard the cringe-inducing sound of glass cracking.

Everyone turned and was startled; two zombies had begun headbutting the glass, and the zombies beside them, imitating, abandoned pounding with hands and started using their heads just the same!

A network of cracks like a highway map appeared on the once whole curtain wall glass.
