Apocalypse: Rebirth With An Infinite Storage System
Chapter 266 The super cold front.
Just like that, Ivy activated her spatial ability, and in the blink of an eye, her figure disappeared.
The next moment... she appeared beside one of the illusion dogs.
The dog stared at her.
Ivy looked down. She hadn’t expected it to be easy anyway. She had fixed a location in her mind to teleport to, yet she hadn’t even made it farther. Instead, she had only managed to teleport a few steps away from the Hope Base gate. It was more like when a one-year-old child ran ten steps away from the gate and then stopped, as though that small distance was already an achievement.
"Again," Ivy murmured under her breath, a determined expression settling over her face as she moved farther away.
One meter... two meters... three meters.
Every attempt was followed by another.
At first, the distance was difficult to control.
Sometimes, she appeared slightly to the left of her intended destination, while other times, her body emerged several centimeters too high.
Once, she nearly stumbled because the teleportation ended with one foot landing awkwardly on a patch of uneven ice.
But she didn’t stop and continued trying again and again instead. She knew that the only way to become proficient with her spatial ability was to keep testing its limits.
The dogs eventually became so accustomed to it that they stopped reacting whenever their master suddenly vanished.
Ivy wiped the snow from her sleeve.
"Again."
She disappeared, and this time around, she reappeared four meters away.
Stable and accurate, with no dizziness.
Her eyes brightened as she realized she had improved, but four meters wasn’t enough. She wanted more.
Her gaze hardened as she remembered the information she had obtained regarding spatial abilities.
Every ability had limits, but every limit could be broken, and the key was repeatedly pushing against them.
Ivy took a deep breath, the cold winter air escaping from her mouth in the form of white mist as she stared into the horizon.
She then closed her eyes and concentrated all her mental power, all while the space around her seemed to distort faintly.
Then...
Whoosh!
Her body vanished, and five meters away, she suddenly appeared.
Perfectly stable this time around, unlike before when she had struggled to maintain her balance, fallen down, hit herself against hard surfaces, and even injured herself during some of the failed attempts.
"I did it!" Ivy murmured under her breath, her voice filled with excitement as a smile slowly appeared on her face.
Five meters in a single jump.
The distance was exactly the peak teleportation distance Elliot had reached in his previous life, yet Ivy had reached it much earlier. But even then, she wasn’t satisfied.
Five meters was only the beginning, and she wanted ten. There was nothing wrong with aiming for twenty either, perhaps even farther if she could eventually reach that level.
She looked at the dogs, who were staring at her as though nothing unusual had happened.
"Bark! Bark!"
One of the dogs barked at her, its tail wagging lazily behind it.
"Looks like I’ll have to train harder," Ivy murmured with a faint smile.
The snow continued falling around her.
Ivy’s gaze drifted toward the distant darkness beyond Hope Base, and just then, she remembered another matter she had been thinking about.
Psychic monsters.
As the apocalypse progressed, some monsters had begun evolving special abilities, and among them were psychic monsters whose crystal cores contained a particularly pure form of mental energy.
If she could collect enough of those crystal cores, perhaps she could further strengthen her mental power.
And if her mental power increased, her spatial ability would naturally become stronger as well.
Unfortunately, Hope Base couldn’t possibly have enough psychic monster crystal cores to satisfy her needs. Hence, that meant she would have to look elsewhere.
Other bases.
Other monster territories.
Perhaps even some of the places ordinary survivors were too afraid to approach.
Ivy’s eyes narrowed as she already had a plan in mind.
She would collect the psychic monster crystal cores from the other bases whenever she had the opportunity.
Not only would it help her own strength grow, but it could also give Hope Base another advantage over the other bases.
Just as she was about to continue practicing... the temperature suddenly dropped.
Ivy’s expression changed as she looked toward the sky.
The snowfall had become even heavier, while a terrifyingly cold wind swept across the land.
Even through the protective barriers, she could feel the temperature plunging rapidly.
"The super-cold front..."
Her expression became serious.
It had arrived earlier than expected.
And judging from the speed at which the temperature was dropping, the other bases were unlikely to have been prepared for it.
Across the apocalypse, countless survivors were about to face an unprecedented disaster.
Buildings that had survived the eight months could freeze overnight, while water supplies could turn into solid ice.
Those without sufficient heating would be exposed to the cold, and even mutated beasts and monsters might behave differently under such extreme conditions.
Ivy’s eyes darkened.
"Let’s head back to the base," she murmured under her breath, her tone becoming slightly more urgent.
With that, she activated her teleportation skill back to the base while Sunny and the other illusion dogs followed her.
