The one who possessed the teleportation skill?

Extremely strong, yet only interested in doing good deeds. And despite all the good he had done, he eventually died from overwork and starvation in Fierce Hunter Base.

Ivy continued to think as she watched Elliot, who had already started burying the monsters they had killed.

Good people tended to die far earlier than evil people. It was such a cruel reality.

Despite how powerful Elliot was, despite how popular his name was, and despite all the good deeds he had performed for other survivors, he had eventually died in her previous life and now, she was standing right in front of him, alive and healthy. And completely unaware of the fate that awaited him.

Ivy couldn’t help but feel a strange mixture of emotions as she stared at him. She had never expected to meet Elliot this early, let alone find him in such a situation.

If she hadn’t come here today, would he have eventually returned to Fierce Hunter Base?

Would he have continued helping others until he exhausted himself completely?Would he have died the same miserable death as before?

Ivy’s hands slowly tightened at her sides.

"What’s wrong?" Elliot’s voice suddenly broke through her thoughts.

Ivy blinked and looked toward him.

He was staring at her with a slightly puzzled expression, a shovel still held in his hand.

"You should cover your nose too instead of standing there with your mouth hanging open," Elliot added, gesturing toward the corpses of the monsters. "The smell is horrible."

"What the fuck?"

Ivy cursed under her breath the moment she realized that her mouth was, indeed, slightly open.

She immediately closed it and cleared her throat, pretending as though nothing had happened.

Elliot glanced at her suspiciously but didn’t say anything.

Instead, he returned his attention to the monster he was burying.

Ivy stared at him for another few seconds before finally making up her mind.

"Will you join my base?" she suddenly asked.

She folded her arms across her chest, her expression becoming serious.

Elliot paused, slowly raised his head and looked at her.

"And why should I join your base?" he asked, letting out a scoff. "Do you even have a base?"

His gaze swept over her from head to toe before he continued. There was a hint of amusement in his voice, as though he couldn’t believe this woman was seriously trying to recruit him after everything that had just happened.

Ivy wasn’t offended. Instead, she calmly introduced herself.

"I’m Captain Ivy, the leader of Hope Base."

The moment those words left her mouth, Elliot’s eyes widened.

For the first time since they had met, genuine shock and disbelief appeared on his face.

"Captain Ivy?" he murmured under his breath.

Ivy nodded.

"You might have heard of Hope Base, or maybe you haven’t," she said calmly. "But there’s one thing I can assure you of. If you join my base, you won’t have to be abandoned by your companions anymore."

She paused briefly before adding, "And you’ll have food and shelter."

Elliot stared at her silently.

Hope Base.

He had heard that name before. He had heard quite a lot about it from the couples who had traveled with him to Fierce Hunter Base. How they’ve regretted not joining Hope base when they had the opportunity.

Elliot narrowed his eyes slightly as he wasn’t completely convinced yet.

"Captain Ivy," he repeated, his voice low as he wasn’t certain whether she was truly the captain of Hope Base but even if she wasn’t...He wasn’t foolish enough to refuse the opportunity to leave Fierce Hunter Base.

"Yes," Elliot finally replied while his expression became serious. "I’ll join Hope Base."

There was a firmness in his voice that made it clear he had already made up his mind.

Even if this woman turned out to be lying about being the leader of Hope Base, he still wasn’t going back to Fierce Hunter Base. There was no reason for him to return to a place like that.

Besides, what reason would she have to lie?

Elliot glanced at the strange dogs surrounding Ivy.

He had seen them earlier and they weren’t ordinary dogs.

He could clearly see them, even though they were obviously illusions.

That meant this woman had abilities.

She might really be Captain Ivy or perhaps she was simply another survivor with a special ability who happened to know about Hope Base.

Either way, joining her seemed far better than returning to Fierce Hunter Base.

Just then...

Ding!

The familiar notification sound suddenly rang inside Ivy’s head.

"What’s it again?" Ivy raised an eyebrow.

She nearly screamed from surprise as it had been quite some time since she had heard the system notification sound, so the sudden appearance of it had caught her completely off guard but then she quickly composed herself and waited for the system’s message.

Ding!

{Congratulations, Host. You’ve been granted the Teleportation Skill.}

"Huh?" Ivy’s eyes widened and for a moment, she wondered if she had heard correctly.

Ding!

{Since Elliot has decided to join your base and possesses the Teleportation Skill, it is only natural for you to inherit the same skill. Furthermore, your teleportation range is one meter greater than Elliot’s.}

Ivy’s eyes immediately lit up.

Oh my goodness! That’s amazing!

She could barely contain her excitement and grabbed Sunny, spinning her around.

Teleportation! This is an incredibly useful ability. Not only could it save me time, but it could also become a powerful advantage during combat and territory expansion.

If I mastered it properly, then i could appear and disappear almost instantly.

"Thank you, System!" Ivy screamed inwardly, desperately trying to contain her excitement all while she eventually dropped Sunny.

She had almost forgotten that Elliot possessed the teleportation skill and now, simply because he had joined her base, she had obtained the ability as well. This was definitely one of the best surprises she had received recently.

Ding!

{I did nothing, though. You found a survivor and asked him to join your base, which he did.}

Ivy was speechless for a moment then she smiled.

"Still, I’m grateful."

Bark! Bark!

Sunny’s barking immediately pulled Ivy’s attention away from the system.

Ivy lowered her gaze and looked at the little dog beside her.

"Oh, right, Sunny." She smiled brightly. "We should return to Hope Base. We’ll come back later and continue expanding the territory."

Sunny barked again as if agreeing with her while Ivy couldn’t help but laugh.

She crouched down until she was at Sunny’s height and gently rubbed his head before running her hand through his fur.

"Come on. We have a new companion to take home."

Sunny wagged his tail excitedly.

The illusion dogs also gathered around them. Ivy then proceeded and opened the truck door allowing Sunny and the illusion dogs to climb inside and only after they were settled did Ivy turn her attention back to Elliot who had remained standing with confusion written all over his face since Ivy has started spinning around with Sunny.

"We should leave for Hope Base now," Ivy said, her voice firm and serious.

Elliot nodded and without wasting any more time, he walked toward the truck and climbed inside while Ivy followed after him, taking her usual position behind the steering wheel.

She started the engine, and the sound of the vehicle immediately filled the air as they made their way towards Hope base.
