Apocalypse: Rebirth With An Infinite Storage System
Chapter 261 I’m Elliot.
Once Darren was gone to continue supervising the survivors, Ivy pulled the whistle hanging from her pocket and blew into it, the sharp sound echoing through the base.
A few seconds later, Sunny came running toward her, followed closely by the other illusion dogs.
Without wasting any time, Ivy climbed into the truck, and the dogs quickly followed her inside. As soon as everyone was settled, she started the engine and drove out of the base, leaving everything in Darren’s hands.
"This is your first outing with me, Sunny," Ivy muttered as she kept her eyes on the road. "I’ve always gone out with the illusion dogs because I was afraid you might get hurt. But there’s no need to be scared anymore. You should come out too and see how everything is going with your own eyes."
She glanced briefly at the dog beside her before adding with a small smile, "You’re a military dog, after all. You should get used to this kind of thing."
"Bark! Bark!"
Sunny barked in response, wagging her tail enthusiastically as though she understood every single word Ivy had just said.
Ivy couldn’t help but let out a warm chuckle at the sight.
"Good girl."
Her smile, however, disappeared almost immediately when she suddenly slammed on the brakes prompting the truck to halt in front of a deserted restaurant.
Ivy’s eyes narrowed as she looked through the windshield.
She had driven for quite some time, but something deep inside her had been telling her that she was getting closer and closer to the exact location she was looking for and now, that strange instinct was screaming at her.
This was it. She had finally reached the place where she would begin marking her territory again.
Before Ivy could even say anything, a desperate scream suddenly pierced through the air.
"Let go of me, you motherfuckers!"
The voice of a young man with white hair rang out from inside the restaurant.
A moment later, he came stumbling out through the entrance and into the street, running for his life as several low-level monsters chased after him.
Ivy’s expression instantly hardened.
Without wasting another second, she opened the truck door and jumped out.
Sunny immediately followed her, while the illusion dogs didn’t even need to be told what to do.
The moment their paws touched the ground, they charged toward the monsters.
"Get them!"
The illusion dogs pounced on the creatures without hesitation, their sharp teeth sinking into flesh as they tore into the monsters from different directions.
Sunny joined them as well, barking furiously while snapping at one of the creatures attempting to sneak up from behind.
The street instantly descended into chaosas the growls of the monsters mixed with the furious barking of Sunny and the illusion dogs, filled the otherwise deserted surroundings with terrifying sounds.
Ivy calmly raised her weapon.
Bang!
A bullet flew straight into the head of one of the monsters. Its head exploded, blood and disgusting pieces of flesh splattering across the ground.
Bang!
Another shot rang out making another monster collapsed and after what felt like forever, the last monster finally fell to the ground.
Ivy walked forward and delivered a direct shot to its head, finishing the job once and for all.
Silence immediately returned to the street.
Sunny and the illusion dogs ran back toward Ivy, their tails wagging happily as though they had just accomplished something they were extremely proud of.
Ivy lowered her weapon and glanced down at them.
"Good job."
Sunny barked happily.
It was only then that Ivy noticed the white-haired man standing a short distance away. The young man was staring at her as though he had just witnessed something completely unbelievable.
His mouth hung open in utter disbelief, and for several seconds, no words seemed capable of escaping him.
Ivy raised an eyebrow.
"Thank you?" she asked, a faint smirk appearing on her lips. "Is that the word you’re looking for?"
The young man finally snapped out of his daze.
"Oh... yeah. Thank you."
Ivy was about to respond when a terrible smell suddenly reached her nose hence ahe immediately brought a hand over her nose and grimaced.
"Oh, damn! That smell is horrible!"
The stench coming from the dead monsters was absolutely unbearable.
The white-haired man swallowed hard before nodding.
"Yeah... you’re right."
He glanced at the corpses scattered across the street and then looked back at Ivy.
"I was actually abandoned by my companions while I was trying to save them," he explained, his voice carrying a trace of bitterness. "Humans can be so unpredictable."
He sighed before looking toward the dead monsters again.
"Anyway, I’ll bury them now."
"You’re going to bury them?" Ivy asked, slightly surprised.
"Of course."
Without waiting for another response, the man walked toward the nearest patch of soil and began digging.
He ripped off his shirt all while the physical effort as he dig quickly caused sweat to trickle down his body. His breathing became heavier as he continued digging into the hard ground with nothing but the tools he had managed to find.
Ivy folded her arms over her chest and silently watched him.
There was something strangely familiar about him.
At first, she couldn’t put her finger on what it was, then her eyes suddenly widened as a memory flashed through her mind.
Ivy’s expression changed.
Huh?
He can’t be the one... can he?
She swallowed hard, her gaze remaining fixed on the white-haired man as she carefully studied his face.
There was no way. Even though she had been reborn, there were certain names she could never forget.
Certain people who had left too deep an impression on the apocalypse for their existence to simply disappear from her memories.
The white hair had somehow caught her attention the moment she saw him, although she hadn’t understood why.
But now...Everything was beginning to make sense.
Ivy narrowed her eyes.
Could it really be him?
She continued studying him for several more seconds before finally deciding to ask.
"Sorry, but what’s your name, mister?" Ivy asked, curiosity evident in her eyes.
The young man immediately paused his digging and looked up at her.
"Pardon my manners, miss," he said, straightening slightly. "I’m Elliot."
Ivy’s eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
"Elliot?!"
Her voice nearly escaped aloud, but she quickly swallowed the rest of her reaction.
Elliot?! One of the Apocalypse’s Ten Ruthless Figures?!
The Elliot who became famous for saving people but refusing to kill monsters himself?!
