Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner
Chapter 224: Visiting the Greyfen Village
Max walked up to Danny and said, "I will leave everything to you. I will visit the village for now."
Danny nodded. "Rest assured, Guild Master. I won’t disappoint you."
Max smiled and patted his shoulder.
He whistled, and two horses galloped towards him.
The other horse was ridden by Joel, whose eyes remained astonished while, at the same time, his body was shivering from fear.
The lingering presence of the Greater Demon Varkhaz induced fear in him.
Max didn’t care about his reaction at all. He grabbed the reins of his horse and jumped onto its back.
He ordered it to run towards the village.
A minute later, as Greyfen Village came within his sight, a system notification popped up in front of Max.
[You are now Rank Number 1 on the leaderboard.
Your guild is now Rank Number 1 on the leaderboard.
Continue to accumulate contributions to consistently stay at the top.
The rewards will be waiting for you...
Duration of the First World-Event: 35 Days, 840 Hours, 50,400 Minutes, and 3,024,000 Seconds.]
Max smiled.
How accurate.
He wasn’t surprised that after killing Varkhaz and many Greater Demons through his summons, he had ranked first.
Even more so when his Demon Hunters Guild had reached first place.
In the first place, were there any other guilds that could battle Varkhaz and his legion?
Max highly doubted it.
As he proceeded towards the village, he perceived the presence of the monster race dwindling, as if another round of the monster wave had concluded...
...
As Greyfen Village successfully held out without its walls being breached after the third round of monster waves from three sides, the monsters fully retreated after the death of Varkhaz.
Although the goblins and kobolds remained adamant about breaking the walls until members of their tribes were being wiped out one after another by the defending humans.
Meanwhile, the Ogres and Minotaurs, under the orders of their Chief and Champion, retreated while watching with extreme meticulousness.
As they perceived the presence of the bearer of Divine Authority arriving in Greyfen Village, they didn’t hesitate to turn around and retreat.
The Troll Tribe followed them as well, as their Troll Elder ordered them to do so.
The remaining monster tribes were all C-rank and below, failing to perceive the presence of the bearer of the Divine Authority.
In fact, they didn’t know that the demons on the other side of the village had already died.
Since the Ogre Tribe attacked from the west side and the Minotaur Tribe from the east side, with the Troll Tribe on their side, they did not pay any attention to the retreat of the three strongest monster tribes in their territory.
For them, they believed that the village might have already exhausted itself.
Just one more attempt would definitely be a success.
Rhayne noticed the Troll Tribe retreating, and moments later, she received information that the Ogre and Minotaur Tribes had retreated as well.
What remained were what she was seeing—the goblins, kobolds, gnolls, orcs, lizardfolk, harpies, and centaurs.
There was a high chance that the fourth wave of monsters would occur within the next hour and would possibly be the last until dawn finally appeared on the horizon.
Rhayne received a notification that the leaderboard had been refreshed and couldn’t help but glance upward.
She was surprised, but not shocked—she had anticipated that what she was seeing would indeed happen.
But she could not help but feel astonished.
Max’s contributions had already reached five digits, while the second-ranked player and the rest were still in the early four-digit range.
Rhayne thought.
Just how many B-rank demons did he kill?
For Max to rack up such a large number of contribution points only meant that he had killed far more B-rank demons than C-rank demons.
Judging from the intensity of the battle that she could even perceive from her current position, the battle was truly large-scale.
Even the Lieutenant and other B-rankers in the village wished not to fight against the demons, based on the reports she received.
Just how strong is he now?
Rhayne clenched her fists as she pondered.
As she stared at the monsters, waiting for more reinforcements from their tribes to arrive, she wondered if she would be able to slay a B-rank monster with her current strength.
Unfortunately, those B-rank monsters had already retreated, leaving behind peak C-rank monsters.
As Rhayne was deep in thought, she heard a commotion behind her.
"The hero has returned!"
"The hero has returned!"
"Everyone, the hero has returned!"
Rhayne immediately turned around and saw the citizens who were supposed to have been evacuated to the underground shelter running around frantically, spreading the news of Max’s return.
Rhayne shook her head and turned around, not wanting to meet Max at all.
Jaden and Julian felt the same.
However, their reactions were far different.
Julian was extremely infuriated at Max, and if he only had the capability to satisfy his desire, he would have already split Max in half with his bare hands.
Jaden, on the other hand, regretted going against Max.
If he were only given a chance to redo all his previous interactions with Max, he would definitely curry favor with him.
Max’s current status inside the game was dominant and overwhelming—his net worth was already greater than that of the Guild Master of the Lewis Guild, if it were not for the latter’s family backing.
He could not help but ponder.
Will I be able to repair my relationship with him if I try to do so now?
Many players were sharing the same emotion as Julian.
In fact, some players tried to blend in with the crowd of NPCs as they left their posts and ran towards where they were going.
Eventually, they spotted the backs of Lieutenant Garrick, Sylwen, and Sister Elira, seemingly gathering in front of an individual with two horses behind him.
Almost immediately, they recognized Max’s face.
When they perceived the aura of his equipment set, they were stunned.
Max wore a set of Epic equipment.
Meaning he was already at B-rank.
The players went crazy, and some could not hold back from logging out just to spread the news on the forum.
They hoped that their posts would go viral and earn some bucks in the process...
