Chapter 101: Full Squad

Adjusting verb tenses and prepositions in later dialogue.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations to Host for killing off 25 enemies.]

[Dispensing rewards now:]

[100x bottles of water.]

[100x packets of MRE ration.]

[50x packets of meat.]

[All items are stored in your storage space now.]

[Current status: 25/200]

[Day 1 of 3 for SSS Necromancer Ability.]

Alex turned around and faced back at the body of Bernard.

He raised his hand and the familiar dark glow appeared covering his hand.

The dark glow extended out into threads and they entered the body of Bernard through his wounds.

More and more of the dark glowing threads spun into the body of Bernard, connecting some of the broken bones inside back together with the dark threads.

Then the dark threads dissipated and the body of Bernard began to move on the ground.

Bernard staggered back onto his feet, but this time, his eyes were lifeless and his face was pale as a white sheet.

An energy shield appeared and engulfed his body.

Alex nodded approvingly at his own handiwork and he walked towards the other two undead Awakened together with Bernard.

They got down from the rooftop and he met up with Riley, Terry and Brian who were already done with the other team members of Bernard.

“You got all of the Awakened?” Alex asked and his friends shrugged their shoulders at him.

They pointed to a pile of bodies at the side.

Riley went on and said, “We’ve placed them together nicely for you to do your voodoo thingy.

“We’ve even made sure that the bodies were intact, as much as we could at least.”

“I knew I could count on you guys.” Alex patted on their shoulders when he walked past them.

His friends hadn’t disappointed him so far and he doubted that they would do so in the future.

“That’s it?” Terry asked and the other two of them nodded their heads at him.

“Fine, we’ll see if we can scavenge something in the shops and supermarkets or warehouse in the city later.” Alex replied.

Brian interjected and said, “I heard some of them said that there will be other gangs coming at us very soon when they were pleading for me to let them off.”

“Other gangs?”

“Yes, they said something about a Lieutenant Langley giving them incentives to kill anyone or any mutated beasts out here in return for essentials like food and water.” Brian added on.

“Lieutenant Langley?” Alex frowned and pondered on what it meant.

The authorities are trying to get the gangs to kill off each other?

It was, at least, what it seemed to him.

If these gangs didn’t have strong enough Awakened, they wouldn’t risk going against the Stage III or IV mutated beasts out there.

Heck, if they were unlucky enough, they might even meet with Stage V mutated beasts.

These gangs might try and swoop in on them like what Bernard’s gang members had said, so it was best for him to get ready.

Alex walked over to the pile of bodies that was lying nearby.

He raised his hands at the pile of bodies and the same thing happened like how it was with Bernard’s body.

The bodies in the pile moved and they slowly staggered back onto their feet.

Riley, Terry and Brian grimaced at the sight even though they’ve seen it before earlier.

Although it was instinctively repulsive to them, they didn’t mind having these undead help in the battle.

These undead were fearless and didn’t flinch or feel any pain.

Making them formidable enemies.

The undead Awakened who had just got back on their feet began to activate their abilities and they had a myriad of abilities among them.

Most were elemental wielders with the ability to wield ice, earth, fire, water and wind.

Now that Alex had ten over undead Awakened under his control, he continued and used his SSS Level Necromancer ability to resurrect more of the bodies until he had fifty of the undead under his control.

If he could, he would want to have all of the undead under his control to be undead Awakened.

But there were only so many of them in Bernard’s gang so he would have to wait for the other gangs to come and try their luck with him.

Three slits appeared in front of him and these slits opened up into the familiar storage portals of his.

The undead started walking into the storage portals and they disappeared into them.

When they were all gone, the storage portals closed up and dissipated.

“So, what do we do next?” Terry asked and Alex glanced in the direction where there was a huge supermarket in the distance.

“Let’s try our luck over there.” He didn’t have high hopes of finding any resources inside it since it was already so many days after the Apocalypse started.

Whatever was inside it must have been cleaned by the gangs or the inhabitants in the city earlier.

What he actually wanted was a place as the battlefield to lure the other gangs inside.

Riley, Terry and Brian followed him and they got back into the car.

Vroom.

The engine of the car started again and they headed towards the supermarket.

When they got to it, they alighted and stood in front of the supermarket.

“Wait here and stay in cover while I check what’s inside.” Alex said and he turned into a speck of shadow with his SSS Level Shadow Plane ability.

He slipped into the huge supermarket through the slit under the doors of the supermarket with ease.

Once inside, he could see that the racks of the supermarket were how he had expected them to be.

They were all empty.

He moved around, checked for anyone around and there weren’t any.

This huge supermarket was a magnet for anyone if they stumbled into the city.

Whoever stayed in here would have to deal with the risk of fighting off invaders trying to grab resources inside the huge supermarket if they stayed here.

Alex got out of the huge supermarket and met up with his friends again.

“Time to get to work!”
