Chapter 1423: Chapter 65: Upheaval (7)

The reinforcements have arrived.

Philip stands isolated, yet the Demon Spirits keep coming in waves.

No one knows exactly how many copies the Demon Spirits have developed, but just by looking at the first wave of 70, and then another 70 in the second wave, one can tell the number is not small.

As for the Demon Spirits’ clones, Philip looks down on them—despite equal levels, or even when these clones suppress Philip by half a level, the absolute gap in personal strength makes their numbers a joke.

No matter how many of the Demon Spirits’ clones appear, Philip is not afraid.

But when it comes to the Demon Spirits’ main body, the calculation isn’t the same.

The confrontation between Philip and Oga’s group has come to a halt, and as Oga’s group breathes a sigh of relief and quickly distances themselves from Philip, Philip merely looks towards the flickering light until a hazy figure suddenly appears in front of him.

“Another Soul Puppet?”

Philip asks with a smile, but his muscles subtly tense up.

He vaguely senses the aura emanating from the Demon Spirit…

“Not this time. I must say, you’re impressive. How about this, I won’t use a clone to take over your body. I’ll leave you with absolute autonomy, and if you follow me, I’ll give you whatever you want.”

When the Demon Spirit confronts Philip face to face, the first thing it does is extend an invitation to Philip…

For a powerful expert like Philip, even a Dominator might lower their stance to offer an olive branch.

However, faced with the words of the Demon Spirit, Philip merely snorts coldly.

“Do you think I believe you?”

He truly doesn’t believe it, and in truth, no one would.

The Demon Spirit’s methods are clear for all to see; no powerful expert would willingly submit after knowing the capabilities of the Demon Spirit.

Wealth and glory are secondary; the main factor is not gaining trust but arousing covetousness.

To this, the Demon Spirit nods lightly.

“You indeed won’t believe it. In fact, no one will. Well, I was just saying that anyway. For someone like you, instead of letting you keep your own consciousness, it’s better to turn you into a part of me from head to toe!”

As the Demon Spirit says this, it then quietly launches an attack.

…

Silent and traceless.

It was as if the Demon Spirit merely glanced at Philip, and Philip was instantly struck as if hit by a heavy blow, his body soaring through the air and crashing to the ground. As the dust settles, the Demon Spirit remains floating in the air as if nothing happened, while Philip, in contrast, has blood oozing from his mouth and nose, and a hole the size of a bowl has appeared in his chest.

“Oga, chase after Wen Yu, bring the brothers back first, then kill Wen Yu!”

“No problem!”

Obeying the order, Oga glares hatefully at Philip, then rushes swiftly in the direction Wen Yu has fled, while Philip simply lets Oga leave, his gaze fixed firmly on the Demon Spirit, seeming to ponder where that attack came from and how to defend against it.

Until another invisible strike lands on Philip’s face.

…

Within just a few minutes of leaving the battleground, Wen Yu has already covered more than half the distance to the target location.

Though the Demon Realm is vast, Wen Yu’s strength makes such traversals manageable—it might not take long for him to sprint from the extreme south to the extreme north of the Demon Realm.

Accordingly, this distance won’t take Oga much time either…

A mere minute after the Demon Spirit issued the order, Oga had already detected Wen Yu’s whereabouts.

Blame it on Wen Yu’s all-out sprint and the overwhelming noise it made…

Oga thus hung back just outside Wen Yu’s perception range, quietly watching him, until he squinted his eyes and his figure vanished in an instant.

The next moment, Wen Yu, sprinting at full speed, trembled suddenly, first staggering in his steps, then losing his balance and falling headlong to the ground.

The abrupt change left Wen Yu momentarily bewildered; as he looked down, he saw that his lower body had been severed at the thighs, the cuts smooth, with a peculiar force entangling the wounds, preventing the recovery effects of the Blood and Flesh Badge and the Photosynthetic Spirit Motifs.

Before Wen Yu could figure out what had happened, pain shot through his arms.

Wen Yu watched as his arms fell off at the shoulders, accompanied by a spray of blood, a sinking feeling settling in his heart.

“Who?”

Looking around, Wen Yu found no sign of movement, leaving him no choice but to speak. It wasn’t until a deep voice unexpectedly appeared beside his ear.

“It’s me.”

The voice carried a note of laughter, and Wen Yu immediately looked to his right to see a palm-sized black three-headed Demon Dragon lying in his pool of blood, licking up his blood.

“Oga…”

Hearing Wen Yu’s “call,” Oga lifted his head and glanced at Wen Yu, the miniature body paired with the blood-streaked face gave Wen Yu a bizarre and comical impression.

“Release the people, and I’ll spare your life.”

Oga ignored whatever Wen Yu thought; he simply stated his terms—or perhaps his threat.

“Do you think I believe you?”

Wen Yu looked helpless, seeming unable to believe Oga would utter such idiotic remarks.

Hearing this, Oga actually chuckled.

“I knew you wouldn’t believe it, and I hope you don’t, because if you did, you wouldn’t be able to savor the big gift I’ve prepared for you!”

As Oga said this, his form flickered and disappeared.

And Wen Yu suddenly felt as if something else had entered his body.

…

It felt like a yellow eel had entered his body…

Or as if a venomous snake were gnawing at his flesh within him.

The sensation was nauseating, as if Wen Yu could feel his flesh, bones, and organs disappearing piece by piece.

But as for the pain, Wen Yu’s Passive Skill had already almost made him immune to it, along with the terrifying psychological pressure, which his big heart also ignored. He was merely calculating all the trump cards he had, ready to deliver “Unbearable Pain of Life” to Oga at the right moment!

“Release the people.”

“Release the people!”

Oga’s voice boomed in Wen Yu’s mind, and following it was something slippery, crawling up to his head through his throat. Wen Yu lay expressionless on the ground, without any Recovery Ability, seemingly a helpless prey, unable to fight back.

This torment lasted for about ten minutes.

Until most of Wen Yu’s flesh had been devoured by Oga, at which point Oga emerged from Wen Yu’s mouth, looking at the weakened Wen Yu teetering on the brink of death, squinting as if considering how to deal with the prey at hand.

Until he saw Wen Yu’s eyes…

Those eyes full of ridicule, mockery, even a hint of delight.

“I hate your gaze.”

Oga said, then moved his little claw, plucking out Wen Yu’s right eye, leaving just a blurry bloody hole.
