Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 1218 - 172: Arrival

  • Next Chapter

About five hours later, Wen Yu, who had been advancing all the way, finally arrived at the destination of this operation.

Looking at the space portal ahead emitting a faint white light, Wen Yu let out a gentle sigh.

From basement level 911 to level 998, it took about eight hours in total. The time wasn’t long, and the pursuers he expected didn’t show up. Plus, Wen Yu proceeded cautiously, using the pitch-dark power to shield their figures and auras constantly. Overall, the process was quite uneventful.

After such a great effort, it was finally time to conclude.

The entrance to the Demon Palace Basement Level 999 was right in front of him. At this point, Bai no longer needed Wen Yu’s assistance. He gently freed himself from the dark straps Wen Yu had released to help him speed up and walked step by step to the front of the space portal.

Reverent, sincere, as if a pilgrim.

Along with a slight flash of white light, the figures of Bai and Ye Nan disappeared one after another in front of the portal. Wen Yu motioned for Faceless to go ahead first. After sensing there was no danger, he then stepped into it.

...

This time, the teleportation was somewhat lengthy and had significant side effects.

Even Wen Yu was dizzy under the spatial flow. When his feet touched the ground, he felt like he was carsick and couldn’t find his direction. Once the negative reaction subsided, Wen Yu turned his head to look to his side, where Bai and Ye Nan were lying on the ground, seeing stars and vomiting uncontrollably.

Taking advantage of this time, Wen Yu immediately surveyed the environment.

In sight was an extremely long passage, nearly tens of meters wide, with no end in sight, not knowing where it extended to. On both sides of the passage was the Endless Void, with scattered points of light, like stars in the night sky.

The environment here was similar to the garbage dump they had just entered, but the malicious spatial undercurrents were gone, replaced by a long corridor with only one direction. More importantly, when Wen Yu expanded his perception to broadly observe, he couldn’t sense any life forms here.

"No enemies here?"

The question came out of Wen Yu’s mouth as he turned to look at Bai, who was still vomiting endlessly. Hearing Wen Yu’s question, Bai gently shook his head.

There weren’t no enemies; it was just that Bai didn’t know if there were enemies here!

By this point, Bai no longer had any information left to hide.

...

"This is the lowest level of the Demon Palace where the Origin Pool is located. Of course, there’s not only the Origin Pool; the garbage dump of the Demon Palace is also on this level. As for what else there is, I don’t know. This is all the information the Immortal Emperor provided."

As Bai recovered slightly, he immediately began explaining the intelligence he knew to Wen Yu. However, this information was as good as not having been said—he didn’t even know the exact location of the Origin Pool.

In other words, everything had to be explored by the two of them on their own.

Once Bai had somewhat alleviated the dizziness from the teleportation, the two immediately embarked on the passage.

...

There was only one path in the passage, with no forks. Behind them was the spot they had been teleported to—a giant circular platform, which saved them the trouble of figuring out the way.

There was only one path, just walk it to the end!

This passage was straight, long, with unknown building materials. However, Wen Yu could sense the hardness of the material used in the passage. There was even some kind of unknown energy mixed within it. When Wen Yu briefly tested it, he found that with his regular attacks, he could hardly damage the passage.

Once again, Ye Nan took the lead, with Faceless covering the rear, and Wen Yu and Bai stood in the middle as support. When reaching an important location like the Origin Pool, Wen Yu couldn’t speed up carelessly, and they could only proceed at a regular pace. About thirty minutes later, the passage finally reached its end.

At the end of the passage, it suddenly forked into three slightly smaller passages, still endless in sight. Even if Wen Yu flew high, he couldn’t see where these three passages led to.

Noticing the difficulty, Bai’s face looked slightly troubled. He looked around at the three passages ahead, but couldn’t find any difference.

"What should we do?"

Reluctantly, Bai had to ask Wen Yu, who simply stared at the passage before him. After a moment, he stepped forward a couple of steps, squatted down, reached out his right hand, and slowly touched the passage.

The touch felt hard but wasn’t cold, instead emitting a slight warmth. Wen Yu closed his eyes, carefully sensing the seemingly ordinary ground beneath him.

In his perception, the unknown energy inside the passage constantly flowed. They were like fish swimming in the water, moving rhythmically and gradually surging towards the distance. After a moment, Wen Yu straightened up, walked to another passage. After completing such an observation for all three passages, Wen Yu pointed to the leftmost passage and said to Bai.

"Here, this should be the Origin Pool..."

Bai looked at him with a mix of amazement and skepticism. He deeply suspected Wen Yu just pointed randomly, and that Wen Yu also didn’t know which path was the correct one. Sensing Bai’s gaze, Wen Yu pointed back at the ground beneath him.

"This place is not a road, but a massive pipeline... From where we came, there were some very strange energy fluctuations inside this pipeline. Initially, I didn’t detect anything amiss, but upon reaching here, I found that this place has some significance."

"That one..."

Wen Yu pointed to the rightmost passage.

"Inside, the energy is Creation Energy."

"The middle one, the energy inside is Demonic Qi. The leftmost one contains Origin Energy."

"From where we came, these three energies converge, entering here through the pipeline we just walked along, then get diverted and purified into three energies of singular nature. But what’s strange is, where this energy comes from and why the Demon Palace is doing this..."

Wen Yu looked puzzled, but the contemplation didn’t last long. After just a moment, he smiled and shook his head.

These things he’s considering are of no use.

Even though Wen Yu’s instincts told him there were many secrets here, and indeed he had the desire to explore them, the path ahead was unknown, and pursuers were right behind. This wasn’t a good time to investigate mysteries.

Unbeknownst to Wen Yu, the pursuers were currently conducting a carpet search for his presence on basement level 919 of the Demon Palace.

As for Bai, he cared even less about the secrets here. All that filled his mind was the imminent accomplishment of their goal and the revival of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes.

Hearing Wen Yu’s explanation, Bai hesitated briefly, then still directed Ye Nan to move onto the left passage.
