Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts
Chapter 1186 - 142: Infiltration
The Devourer didn’t advance directly towards the Demon Palace; as the Cleaner of the Sea of Lava, its work time is exceedingly long. The Devourer roamed back and forth in the Lava Sea, persistently clearing away the Soul Puppet variants blocking its path, allowing those inside its belly to enjoy a Lava Sea sightseeing tour. After a week, the lake within the Devourer’s belly had expanded at least threefold. Only then did the Devourer complete its task. It swayed its tail, moving directly towards the core of the Demon Realm’s profile.
...
The closer to the Demon Palace, the denser the Soul Puppet variants in the Lava Sea became, even showing forms of variants unseen before. However, in the face of the Devourer’s massive size and absolute power, these Soul Puppet variants gained no advantage. A few daring variants that tried to challenge the Devourer disappeared instantly in the Devourer’s breath.
Thus, another three days passed.
Until the Demon Palace appeared within Wen Yu’s perception range, allowing him to sigh in relief.
"Friends, we have arrived..."
...
From the outside, the Demon Palace appeared like a giant tumor, constantly pulsing, with its pitted surface continuously emitting white smoke. Wen Yu quickly perceived that this white smoke was surprisingly the Origin Energy.
Comparing it with what Bai mentioned earlier and what was seen and heard along the way, Wen Yu gained a deeper understanding of the Demon Palace—the Demon Realm’s Core had shattered, yet the Demon Palace assumed its roles, maintaining the existence of the Demon Realm. However, based on its performance, the task was not well-accomplished, as it couldn’t entirely contain its vast internal Origin Energy!
This was the fundamental reason for the near-extinction of the Demon Realm and why the Demon Tribe needed to invade one world after another.
At a certain moment, Wen Yu even maliciously contemplated creating chaos inside, possibly smashing the Demon Palace, but a second thought made him chuckle bitterly.
As a member of the "Demon Tribe," if this place were destroyed, he wouldn’t have a chance even if he was at Level 11...
Suppressing the unreliable thoughts, Wen Yu watched as the Devourer swayed its tail, directly diving to the bottom of the Lava Sea, swiftly approaching the Demon Palace. In no time, the Devourer reached an exit at the bottom of the Demon Palace.
...
The crack was extremely small, only about three meters long from the outside, with multicolored lights flashing above it. These lights formed an indestructible barrier, preventing the Demon Palace’s internal Origin Energy from leaking out, also repelling external enemies—in a short time, Wen Yu saw about three Soul Puppet variants recklessly charge at it. As soon as they touched the defense barrier, they were utterly pulverized by its energy.
The Devourer’s massive body gradually approached the crevice, and as its head touched the energy barrier, it emitted a black light as if undergoing some form of identity authentication. The black light was extremely brief, and in the next second, the Devourer’s body instantly shrank from a world-swallowing snake to a less-than-a-meter-long little loach, passing through the opening directly.
Inside the Devourer’s belly, Wen Yu and others felt their bodies reduced proportionally the instant the Devourer transformed. Upon entering the Demon Palace, as the Devourer’s body returned to normal, everyone else’s size did as well.
Identity authentication passed... in fact, there was no reason it wouldn’t pass. Bai hadn’t even mentioned this identity authentication beforehand, proving it was not a concern.
As the Devourer entered the Demon Palace and reverted to its original size, Wen Yu expanded his perception, examining the surrounding environment.
This was a vast Void...
The space seemed boundless, with dim lights constantly flickering above, resembling celestial stars, and below the Devourer was an endless "galaxy." The white river water relentlessly surged and flowed, its destination unknown. Nothing else existed here.
"Is this the garbage dump you mentioned?"
Responding to Wen Yu’s inquiry, Bai nodded lightly. Wen Yu laughed awkwardly—perhaps everyone’s understanding of a garbage dump differed... At the very least, Wen Yu wouldn’t liken this beautiful scene to a garbage dump.
Yet soon, Wen Yu understood the meaning of a garbage dump...
In his perception, the Devourer opened its giant mouth, and the next second, the lake behind Wen Yu began to boil, bubbles rising with intense acrid scents invading Wen Yu’s nose and mouth.
Dumping garbage...
As the thought crossed his mind, the Devourer mimicked a vomiting motion at once, causing Wen Yu to stiffen, while Bai and others had already mounted Leoja, swiftly flying away!
Amidst a spectacular scene akin to a flood discharge, the Devourer spewed countless acidic fluids, cascading like a waterfall, merging rapidly into the "galaxy" below, lasting nearly a minute until completion. Afterward, the Devourer again swayed its tail, departing outside.
Only after the downpour ceased did several figures fly over from a distance.
"It’s truly disgusting!"
Wen Yu’s assessment of this entry was rather fair, and Bai, not far away, also nodded in agreement. He looked at the Avengers around him, then spoke with a slightly excited tone.
"Let’s begin, and I hope everyone remains vigilant. Whatever follows, you must adapt spontaneously."
"How exactly are we supposed to adapt...? This garbage dump doesn’t seem as dangerous as you claimed."
Wen Yu felt rather puzzled; neither ordinary perception nor Soul Perception detected any risks around—or any space portals or turbulent energy flows Bai had mentioned. This place was merely vast and empty, nothing more.
Bai didn’t directly answer Wen Yu’s question. Instead, he walked forward slowly, taking three steps, and in the next instant, his figure disappeared from sight.
...
All was silent; Bai’s disappearance provoked no ripples. Wen Yu paused briefly, then flew towards where Bai vanished. However, after only a couple of steps, Wen Yu surprisingly felt a massive pulling force surrounding him, isolating him from everything, severing all connections. Then came a sense of disorientation; when Wen Yu regained clarity, the scene before him had changed.
He found himself standing in a steel corridor.
