Apocalypse: I Built a City of Sin
Apocalypse — Chapter 78: The Women’s Tearful Gratitude
The mature women did not care much. They were experienced adults, and survival mattered more than which man they followed.
The main concerns were Lin Lanlan and two other young heiresses.
Lin Lanlan was Lin Chengxun’s pampered only daughter. The other two also came from wealthy families and had received strict upbringings. They considered chastity more important than life.
Lin Lanlan had once felt the same and normally would never have agreed.
“Lanlan...” Lin Chengxun’s two lovers began.
To their surprise, Lin Lanlan spoke first.
“I’m willing to follow your rules, Big Brother. As long as you don’t despise me for being raped, I’m willing to be only your woman for the rest of my life.”
Her voice was resolute, almost as though she had abandoned every remaining concern.
Xiao Yi laughed inwardly but spoke with righteous sincerity.
“Don’t worry. I don’t care what happened to you before. As long as you remain loyal to me, I’ll treat you well and never allow another man to hurt you.”
“A man who truly loves you values your heart, not your body.”
“Being raped changes nothing. If your heart remains clean, then you remain pure.”
As emotion filled his voice, Xiao Yi even shed a tear.
Everyone present was moved, their eyes filling with admiration and respect.
Lin Lanlan looked into his clear eyes and remembered the disgust she had seen in Song Junshuang’s gaze. The contrast made tears pour down her face.
“Thank you, Big Brother! Thank you for taking us in and helping us!”
She rushed forward, embraced Xiao Yi, and cried with genuine gratitude.
Xiao Yi wore a comforting expression while thinking wickedly, “I wonder what she would do if she knew the man she’s thanking and offering herself to is the one who raped her and killed both her lover and her father.”
“Sir, you’re such a good man! We have no way to repay you except... except with ourselves!” several women said, blushing as they bowed.
Once everyone else had declared their position, the final two heiresses lowered their proud heads and called Xiao Yi “Master.”
The living room filled with a touching atmosphere of affection and gratitude.
After a moment, Xiao Yi asked, “I heard there are doctors here, as well as experts who modify vehicles. Do you know where they are and whether they’re still alive?”
The lawyer in her thirties hurriedly answered.
“I know. The three doctors are also professors at the medical university. They never participated in the conflict between the districts and devoted themselves to researching a cure for the zombie virus.”
“All three districts regularly sent them food and captured zombies for their experiments.”
“They should be in Villa 125 at the southern edge of our district.”
As soon as she finished, an adult heiress dressed in alternative fashion interjected.
“I know the modification experts! I’ve hung out with them before. They’re excellent with vehicles, and they can repair solar-power systems and water-purification equipment.”
“When the solar system here failed, they fixed it. They’re neutral too. Anyone can bring them food and materials in exchange for vehicle work.”
“I heard they’re professors and top students in mechanical engineering. They love cars and inventing strange things. There are three men and two women, led by a mechanical-engineering professor.”
“They should be in Villa 026 in the eastern district.”
Xiao Yi’s eyes lit up.
These people were all valuable specialists.
With those five mechanical experts, he could move the villa district’s advanced water-purification system into the City of Sin.
Then no one in the city would need to worry about clean water again.
More importantly, Xiao Yi and his women could enjoy hot showers every day.
Remembering the shower in the celebrity couple’s home filled him with pleasure.
The medical professors would naturally be taken back too.
They could stop researching a cure.
If the zombies disappeared, what corpses would Xiao Yi bury?
How would he deceive and exploit people while ruling the apocalypse?
In his opinion, doctors should do a doctor’s proper work: keeping everyone in the City of Sin healthy.
He also had to take the mutant with him.
This new species had to be studied thoroughly and, preferably, controlled by him.
He would train mutants into loyal subordinates.
After loading more than a dozen women into the Slaughterer Armored Vehicle, Xiao Yi returned to Su Meilin’s villa.
The actress remained tied spread-eagle across the bed with a black blindfold over her eyes.
She still believed her handsome celebrity husband had become unusually adventurous the previous night. She had no idea that Xiao Yi had done everything in front of him—or that her husband had died of rage and been turned into a zombie.
When Xiao Yi released her, Su Meilin asked blankly, “Where is my husband? Where did he go?”
Xiao Yi lied with a perfectly serious expression.
“Your husband died heroically in today’s battle against Dong Haobiao’s faction. Lily New City’s wall has been destroyed, and zombies have overrun the compound. This place is no longer safe. Your villa will soon fall too.”
Su Meilin did not believe him at first. But after Xiao Yi led her to the balcony and showed her the streets, her face turned deathly pale, and she began sobbing.
Smiling wickedly, Xiao Yi embraced her from behind and spoke as though driven by virtue.
“Miss Su, I was a fan of yours before the apocalypse. If you remain here alone, you’ll certainly die.”
“If you’re willing to become my woman, I can take you to my shelter.” His hands began wandering across her body. “The other survivors from the southern district are already in my vehicle.”
Su Meilin turned and leaned into his chest, crying softly.
“Thank you. Thank you so much! You’re truly a wonderful man. Thank you for saving me. I... I’m willing to follow you...”
She was completely lost. Zombies filled the streets, and her man was dead. Only the powerful stranger before her could offer safety.
If Xiao Yi had ordered her to kneel and worship him, she would have done so without hesitation.
“Don’t worry. Once we return, serve me obediently, and I’ll protect you.” Xiao Yi held her as the corner of his mouth curved upward.
The sensation of possession and conquest was even more satisfying than claiming a virgin.
After all, she had been one of the nation’s most famous and beautiful stars before the apocalypse.
Su Meilin clung to him with tears of gratitude.
If Chen Yuze’s spirit could see this, it might become so furious that he returned from the dead.
