Chapter 1324 - 1014: Reckless Ignorance
Chapter 1324: Chapter 1014: Reckless Ignorance
"What the hell are you doing!"
As He Di approached, Raymond was totally dumbfounded. And at the deepest part of the carriage, not only did Foster, who feigned sleep with his eyes lowered, grip his double-barreled shotgun tightly, but Gregory also let out a scream.
Blood pressure maxed out!
Mother, you damn mutt, why the hell are you bothering him!
The hatred pointer distance was already too close, the mystic ritual couldn’t be maintained, and if He Di targeted him specifically, he had no confidence he’d be able to stop it!
If it weren’t for Huai Shi burying plenty of clones and seeds underground along the way, which resulted in quite a bit of confusion, they would have been exposed the moment they entered the city.
Meanwhile, in front of the stall, the Abyss Handler with a gloomy face took a good look at the dog-headed man grinning foolishly, having the feeling he’d seen him somewhere before.
But all dog-headed men in the world seemed to look the same.
Impossible to tell who is who.
He asked coldly, "What do you sell here?"
"Feel free to look, feel free to look."
Huai Shi wagged his tail, drool leaking from the corner of his mouth, and he gestured with both hands towards the stall in front of him, saying, "These are all rare and valuable treasures, most suitable for a connoisseur like you, who stands out uniquely!"
While his mouth was practically touting the stall’s items to the skies, in reality, anyone with a bit of experience could tell: the stuff on that ragged cloth was a pile of junk!
The only somewhat noteworthy mess of rings and jewelry, covered in copper rust and carrying curses inside them, seemingly dug up from some grave by this dog-headed man.
Under He Di’s gaze, the malicious aura was already enveloping the dog-headed man, yet he continued to grin foolishly, completely unaware that his time was running out.
Seeing He Di staying silent, the dog-headed man eagerly started pitching, pulling out several bright red flowers from a bunch of chaotic plant roots and stems, and raising them with both hands.
"Look, look at this! This is a rare, top-grade end blossom supplied exclusively to the front lines!"
Though they appeared fresh and vibrant, they emitted a stench similar to rotting matter, causing anyone to cover their nose.
In reality, in some places, these things were everywhere across the hills, unwanted even if offered for free money—it was garbage.
However, for those cannon fodder-like rat-men spreading everywhere, this thing was a potent hallucinogen and stimulant, almost impossible to quit once tangled with it.
The only downside was that using too much would burn the brain out, making one dare to charge at even a natural enemy, but to the rulers, it was actually a plus.
"Eat, eat it and it’s easy for tails to rot!"
The dog-headed man nibbled on it, chewing for a while, then spat it on the ground, "Tail rots, head, head also rots! In short, just rots!
Feels so, so refreshing!"
Afraid He Di would find it uninteresting, after introducing one item, he picked up another piece of rotten wood stump: "Take a look at this, this 800-year-old Broken-root Tree, such thick dimensions are hard to find anywhere else!"
He Di was indifferent.
Similarly, cheap trashy stuff, it only served as material for low-quality poisons, without any other use.
"Then, then what about this!"
The dog-headed man grabbed a handful of pale dry grass, eagerly introducing, "Rare Single-stalk Grass, cheap and practical! I also have Round-stalk Grass, Year-stalk Grass...
Take a small bite, relax the body, delight the soul!"
As he moved, a swarm of Hell White Bugs emerged from beneath the ragged cloth padding, crawling everywhere.
Some crawled onto the dog-headed man himself, only to be casually picked up, popped into his mouth, and crunch-crunched into pieces.
"All good stuff!" He flattered, rubbing his hands, "Feel free to choose, first day opening, 10% discount giveaway!"
He Di said nothing.
He already regretted wasting time on this trash-talking dog-headed man, but just as he was about to turn and leave, something in the corner of the stall caught his eye.
A worn-out wooden plate used to hold garbage-like items, equally worthless—but the patterns on it made him feel somewhat dazed and wistful.
Parts of the designs were reminiscent of Helios’s decor style, completely different types but inevitably reminding him of past memories.
In that instant, Raymond saw: among the Hell White Bugs creeping everywhere, a gray metal insect, like a speck of dust, quietly adhered to He Di’s robe.
Climbing up slowly, bit by bit, ending up on He Di’s wrist...
The dog-headed man kept smiling foolishly, as if nothing occurred.
He Di stiffened for a bit, instinctively sensing something was amiss, glancing around suspiciously.
Raymond felt his heart climbing into his throat, holding his breath.
Just as He Di furrowed his brows, concentrating on his senses, he suddenly heard a sharp sound nearby.
—Beep!
"What’s that sound?!"
He suddenly raised his head, his sharp gaze locking onto the back of the stall, making the dog-headed man shiver, almost dropping what was in his hands.
It was a metallic box resembling some strange detector, with a thick antenna, already dismantled into pieces, and reassembled, sparking and smoking.
"What’s that in your hand?" He Di asked coldly.
"Uh, this..."
The dog-headed man replied with an innocent face: "This is something I collected at the front, said to be called, called the Virgin Identifier!"
As if holding some incredible treasure, he raised it with both hands!
All that was missing was a beam of holy light shining from above.
What the heck?
Not just He Di, but even Raymond and the three hidden in the carriage were dumbfounded.
The dog-headed man fiddled with it joyfully, boasting, "It’s not for sale! It’s a valuable treasure!
Any virgin, test it, guaranteed! Just recently it’s been having problems, always beeping."
Saying this, he pointed the box at the stunned Minotaur.
Beep!
With a high-pitched cry, the instrument seemed to mock.
Then, it pointed towards He Di.
Beep!
Again, a high-pitched cry.
Then, silence, the arrival of deadly silence.
Raymond: "..."
He Di: "..."
"It’s, it’s really broken!"
The Dog-headed Man was furious, picked up the thing and started smacking it until with a loud pop, it went beep-beep-beep and suddenly exploded, thick smoke rising, completely turning into scrap.
Almost set the stall on fire!
He Di, his blood pressure already maxed out.
Actually feeling a rare anger because of a lowly Dog-headed Man!
Cursing him to die within three days on a whim, he snorted coldly, turned and left without looking back.
There, only Raymond was left, sweating profusely.
Only after a long while did he finally catch his breath.
Speechless and choked up.
"Can you not pull this kind of stunt next time?" He sincerely begged, "I’m begging you, my heart really can’t handle this."
"It’s fine, more exercise will improve it, I believe in you."
Huai Shi grinned, chewing on the curse gifted by He Di, gazing at He Di’s departing back, smiling: "Exciting days still lie ahead."
That metallic crawler, mere dust speck in size, held power insignificant, not even comparable to the tiny crystals settled in Hell’s soil, buried and unnoticed.
Now long gone from He Di’s boots, it returned to Huai Shi’s hand, completely destroyed.
What truly mattered was what remained on He Di—a tiny strain, modified from Huai Shi’s blood diluted hundreds of times, now dyed his skin, subtly sinking into his soul.
It has no other use but simple tracking.
But even for tracking, it was enough.
The cunning in Huai Shi’s heart brewed, now bubbling up.
They secretly kept an eye on each other; prosperous days were clearly ahead.
Soon, with noisy footsteps, a row of bold figures appeared in the market. The market managers began their patrol.
At some large stalls, they dared not act recklessly, but small stalls with no one to back them up had no such luck.
Suddenly, chaos ensued.
As one arrogant Rat-man stopped abruptly in front of Huai Shi’s stall, turning back, his eyes lighting up at the sight of those mediocre goods.
"Oh, oh, all good stuff here."
The Rat-man Boss beamed, beckoning his underlings who immediately rushed to grab a pile from the stall, not saying a word, stuffing it directly into bags and turned to leave.
But just a few steps out, a voice eerily like Raymond’s rang from behind them.
"This bunch of bastards didn’t pay!"
"..."
Instantly, silence fell, everyone around froze.
Including Raymond.
At this moment, the Minotaur was eating, mouth full, completely oblivious to what was happening.
As the Rat-men’s sinister gazes turned towards him, he instinctively shook his head to protest: "It wasn’t..."
Slap!
"Watch how you speak!"
Huai Shi slapped the back of his head, reprimanding angrily: "No manners at all, not a shred of decency!"
Clearly, it was you who said it!
Raymond shook in anger, almost on the verge of tears, what must we do as mere tools to satisfy you!
Huai Shi still acted like an innocent stall owner, smiling sycophantly at the managers: "No money needed, let’s be friends, having more friends means more paths, right?"
"Hey, kid, you’re quite smart."
The Rat-man sneered, glancing over the remaining goods on the stall: "Nice stuff."
Immediately, his men knowingly gathered up all the goods, taking them away.
But the Rat-man’s gaze shifted behind Huai Shi, clicking his tongue in admiration: "Nice car too."
The Dog-headed Man panicked, "Boss, this is my treasure."
"Hmm?"
The Rat-man glared coldly, his men’s hands gripping swords and knives, causing the terrified Dog-headed Man to shiver, tears nearly falling.
"No problem, it’s a gift for you."
He wiped away tears, choking up: "We’re like brothers at first sight, just a car, I’ll even throw in the Minotaur!"
The Rat-man chuckled, without hesitation, his dozen underlings flipped the stall and climbed onto the Red Dragon, actually taking the car too.
Amidst the chaos, only the Dog-headed Man pleaded ’go easy,’ but at the end, suddenly another disdainful laugh from the Minotaur rang out:
"Hmph, its legs don’t even close, looks like a filthy thing selling its body!"
Once again, dead silence descended.
Everyone disbelieving their ears, but after seeing Raymond, they couldn’t help but instinctively glance at the Rat-man leader and his behind.
"You... You..."
The fur-shedding Rotten face of the Rat-man turned bright red, then ashen, and finally pitch black, furious and trembling, squeezing a hoarse voice through clenched teeth.
"Reckless fools, all of you!"
He roared: "Take them away! Take them all!!"
"Wait, wait, let’s talk reasonably!"
The Dog-headed Man screamed and wailed, attempting to flee but was instantly pinned to the ground, along with the silly Minotaur and his car, being taken away by the managers.
Leaving only a mess behind.
In the long silence, the stall owners around exchanged glances, a hint of pity in their eyes. ℯℯ𝘭.
They were doomed.
