Chapter 1323: He Has Arrived
Chapter 1323 -1013: He Has Arrived
“Luo Su?”
The Frost Corpse’s Red Moo seemed to pause slightly, as if furrowing its brow: “A strange name.”
“Right, right?”
The Dog-headed Man wagged its tongue, stuttering: “Many, many people have told me this name sounds, sounds like an Old Turtle…”
The Frost Corpse casually registered the name and asked coldly: “Where did you come from?”
“Just, just returned from the Endless Sea! Went home to restock a bit! Sir, do you want some? Our goods have the purest taste, most, most intense!”
As he spoke, the Dog-headed Man turned around and pulled out a wriggling vine from the cart bed, took a bite, and the vine, seemingly alive, struggled and emitted a shrill scream, with juice splattering!
The sweet scent lingered in the air.
On the city wall, the noses of several Minotaurs twitched, their eyes becoming greedy.
“Come, come, everyone gets a share, this is a tribute to all the Big Sirs. There’s not a bit of purity on my cart, it’s all evil and fallen! Hey, here you go, is one basket enough? How about another basket, just a bit isn’t enough to create a blast, cough, cough, eat…”
The Dog-headed Man obsequiously opened the cart bed, allowing the excited Minotaurs to eagerly carry off the ten baskets of the freshest goods, everyone getting a share.
Watching their satisfied expressions, he seemed to be even happier than they were.
The Frost Corpse glanced coldly at its appearance, pondering: Probably a fool!
But after taking care of the Minotaur Sirs, the Dog-headed Man unexpectedly came over, nudging the Frost Corpse’s shoulder as if accidentally bumping into it.
The chill in the Frost Corpse intensified, ready to teach this overly complacent guy a lesson, when it felt a smooth, hard object being slipped inside its body.
Source Crystals.
“Sir, can you make things convenient, lift, lift your noble hand.”
The Dog-headed Man acted as if nothing had happened, still smiling obsequiously.
The Frost Corpse glanced at him, then at the cart bed that was almost half empty, along with the few boxes faintly exposed below, seemingly understanding something, remaining indifferent.
“You want to bribe me?”
“Not at all, Sir, we hit it off so well, making friends, how can you call it a bribe?” The Dog-headed Man wagged its tongue and shook its head, slipping in another Source Crystal, lowering his voice: “When leaving the city, I’ll need extra care from you.”
The Frost Corpse weighed the Source Crystals in its hand twice, a look of satisfaction flashing in its red eyes.
“You really understand the rules, don’t you…”
Its tone turned severe, “How come I’ve never seen you before?”
Raymond’s heart tensed, but Huai Shi’s smile remained unchanged. He took out a pack of seeds from his clothes and handed it over: “I’m a newbie, driving for the first time, relying on you Sirs’ guidance. If there’s anything I didn’t do well, I’d appreciate your pointers.”
“…After entering the city market, don’t forget the manager’s share, mention my name.”
The Frost Corpse whispered something almost inaudibly, gesturing to the city wall, signaling his subordinates to move aside the checkpoint and allow passage.
“Did we really just get through?”
As Huai Shi returned to the car, Raymond was incredulous.
“How did we suddenly become one big family?”
“What else? You thought it was the Astronomical Society?” Huai Shi chuckled softly.
Thinking the military discipline within Hell is strict would be a joke, especially since this place is a massive transit hub, appearing serious yet actually porous. Huai Shi has a hundred thousand ways to boldly enter.
It turned out that beneath their merchants’ facade, there was still a layer of smuggler’s skin. Even Huai Shi did not expect that he would so smoothly connect with the black market here…
As for whether they’ll get nabbed for this operation as achievement when exiting the city, it depends on the method then. If worst comes to worst, they’ll change skins again.
For now, let’s scout the situation inside.
As Huai Shi pondered, suddenly he heard a voice behind him.
“Wait!”
The checkpoint stopped in place, as someone approached with a few Minotaurs.
Raymond’s body stiffened slightly, instinctively reaching for something beside him, but his wrist was caught by Huai Shi, the Dog-headed Man smilingly glanced back.
“Hey, wh-what’s the matter, everyone?”
The Frost Corpse coldly scanned them both.
The black money was received too cheerfully, almost forgetting the main task.
“Have you seen this person?”
It projected a handsome face, appearing in front of them both, “Recently, a rampant thief, the City Lord has specially issued a bounty.”
Raymond’s neck stiffened, restraining the urge to look at Huai Shi.
“N-no!”
Even at this moment, Huai Shi did not forget his stuttering persona, shaking his head disdainfully: “N-no one as good-looking as me, I never remember!”
“Besides, such strange appearances, they don’t seem like good, good stuff at all!”
The Frost Corpse’s red pupils twitched, as if spasming.
——With your looks, dare to be picky about others’ ugliness?
“Fine, go ahead.”
It waved its hand coldly, ultimately glancing at Huai Shi: “You better not be lying, or the consequences will be severe.”
“Got it, you can rest a hundred times assured.”
The Dog-headed Man laughed knowingly, “If I catch them, I’ll definitely bring them to you! But with Iron Flame City’s defenses so tight, such a person isn’t likely to come here.”
The Frost Corpse nodded with satisfaction, ready to leave, when suddenly a piercing scream erupted.
“He’s already here!!!”
Below the city wall, hanging in a cage, a hunchback Snake Man with white hair and bloodshot eyes gripped the bars, screaming hoarsely below: “I saw it! I saw it! It’s coming, destruction and death…fools, you’re courting death yourselves! The earth cracks, flames rise, all stars extinguish, terrifying darkness that devours everything is about to descend!”
The crazed Snake Man was drooling, struggling desperately in the cage and screaming, drawing many eyes for a spectacle.
“Oh this…”
The Dog-headed Man was stunned.
“Ignore it, this is the sixth time this month it’s gone mad.”
Frost Corpse glanced at Snake Man dismissively, “It used to be a reliable diviner, but now every time a Ruler passes by, it screams like a Goblin who’s had its toe stepped on.”
“Must be too many drugs.”
Huai Shi nodded in agreement: “I’ve seen plenty like this.”
It snapped its fingers and withdrew its gaze.
Soon, the bizarre vehicle merged with the city’s monsters and vanished.
Only a small spore floated in the wind, quickly landing on the edge of a cage, burrowing into a festering sore. Half an hour later, in the intense heat, Snake Man’s brain turned to mush, drooling with a silly grin, never screaming again.
“I saw it… I saw it…”
It muttered to itself: “The end has come.”
.
.
To call it a city is to dream; really, it’s just a village with a massive fortress.
As for expecting any residents, that’s pure fantasy. In Hell, there’s never been a structure of governance like that, nor any existence of civilians.
At the lowest level, everything is a tool.
Forging tools, producing tools, planting tools, trading tools…
Slaves.
Aside from the multitude loyal to the City Lord, there are only outsiders, managers, and various strange beings.
Although Raymond had been involved in many wars between Hell realms, it was the first time he’d seen such a massive factory in Hell—right in the center of the city, occupying one-third of its vast space.
Scorching molten iron surged, mixed with lava emerging slowly from the volcano, flowing through channels into the huge production plant, accompanied by the endless sound of forging; the hellish density was terrifyingly high.
Even Hell Creatures probably couldn’t handle it.
Any creature working in there probably wouldn’t last half a month before mutating into a lump of rotten meat, thrown directly into the molten steel, serving as both raw material and a source of resentment, becoming part of countless weapons.
Controllers, regulators, producers form a perfect and healthy Hell Cycle.
Astonishing.
“This is truly a big one…”
Suddenly, Raymond heard a soft voice exclaim beside him.
Turning his head, he found the Dog-headed Man grinning, tongue flicking, seemingly smiling, staring at the colossal workshop with eyes flashing an unsettling and dangerous gleam.
Greed surged.
Raymond shivered, sensing unease.
“Where should we go next?”
“To the market first.”
Huai Shi patted Red Dragon’s head, turned to look at the load behind them: “Since we’re here and brought so much stuff… let’s find some suckers and sell the goods!”
Which darling will receive their gift?”
Huai Shi was excited.
.
.
“Have all places been notified?”
“We are dispatching people to go.”
“What about the True Vision Eye? Watch out for their disguises.”
“We are striving to make them.” The Bull-headed Warrior said solemnly: “We’re working on it, working on it.”
The assurance was spoken with great vigor.
Yet He Di’s face remained icy—counting on this group to take things seriously was a naive hope. Except for encountering Huai Shi’s threat firsthand, even if Huai Shi might actually come here, they probably wouldn’t react.
Even now with some movement, it’s likely driven by the thought of making a quick buck through rare goods.
Not reliable at all.
But hindered by Zim’s vigilance, no more forces could be mobilized into Thunderclap White Plains, causing He Di considerable frustration.
Especially with the hatred gauge showing increasingly evident signs today.
The reckless Huai Shi might indeed have arrived in this part of Hell, or even entered Iron Flame City already!
He walked expressionlessly through the market, suddenly pausing, sensing a faint malice from afar.
Beneath his robe, his fingers snapped, those tattooed runes converging instantly, causing a strange creature on the market to explode into blood-red frenzy.
Not only it, but the entire stall vanished in the blood burst.
When the manager noticed the perpetrator was He Di, they dared not to approach demanding accountability.
He Di glanced coldly, realizing the dead thing was merely a reckless fool, his inner irritation not dissipated but growing more intense.
Soon though, he began reflecting, calming down; he was becoming overly paranoid thanks to Huai Shi, shouldn’t be so jumpy.
Yet for some reason, his gaze suddenly paused.
Settled on the stall beside him. ℴℴ𝘮
Amidst a pile of straw and various bizarre items, the Dog-headed Man with a drooling, hideous face was raising its head, staring at him.
In a brief exchange of glances, it suddenly gave a peculiar smile.
“——Hey there, customer, want to buy something nice?”
