Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 678 Vacation Planet
Moira Lynch and the others didn’t return to Caelus. Instead, they traveled to the planet they had visited before, the one with a clear divide between red and blue.
“Moira, is this the planet you said you wanted to develop into a resort?” Kai York asked, looking at the planet below.
It had to be said, the planet was truly beautiful, looking just like a dual-colored gemstone.
Moira nodded. “Before I went into secluded training, I had Patience start on the infrastructure here.”
This infrastructure involved planting Qio Vines in the ocean to create landmasses. On the volcanic side, it meant marking the location of every hot spring and then redeveloping them.
Shane Rhodes and Hugh Finch were in their 5S-class Mechas, while Moira and Kai York had wings sprouting from their backs.
The four of them flew through the air, looking down at a group of robots bustling about below.
After half a year, the Qio Vines had grown to a considerable size. While they hadn’t yet formed a large, continuous landmass, they just needed a little more time to connect and create a vast island.
When that happened, it would be time for the Elf Tree Houses to make their debut.
‘I’ve accumulated quite a few mutated Elf Tree Houses in my storage space recently.’
The four of them flew unhurriedly through the sky, looking for all the world like executives inspecting their assets.
From time to time, Shane, Kai, and Hugh would offer their own suggestions.
Moira had Patience note down every suggestion, planning to implement the reasonable ones and disregard any that were too outlandish.
As they flew on, the group suddenly came upon a region where the seawater was paler than before, with even a faint hint of green. The species of fish in the water were also different from those they had just seen.
A distinct boundary line formed on the surface of the sea, just like the one dividing the planet itself.
“Moira, why is the color different here? Is it from a different source?” Shane asked curiously.
Moira nodded. “It is from a different source, but the main reason is…”
With a slight movement of Moira’s finger, several cups appeared out of thin air, then descended into the sea below, filled themselves with water, and flew back up in front of them.
She picked up one of the cups, took a sip, and said, “The main reason is that this is freshwater, not saltwater. That’s why it looks different.”
“Freshwater?”
Skeptical, Shane and the other two took a sip. It really was freshwater, and it tasted surprisingly good—sweet and very refreshing.
“I’d previously scanned this planet and discovered that its interior holds vast reserves of minerals and water. On the surface, the planet is split evenly between volcanoes and ocean, but the volume of water stored within its crust is more than twenty times that on the surface—and it’s all freshwater. This groundwater flows through crevices in various mineral veins, absorbing large quantities of minerals. Drinking it over the long term can improve one’s skin and maintain good health.”
Shane and the other two men clicked their tongues in amazement at Moira’s explanation.
Just then, their attention was caught by something strange. As they drew closer, they saw it was a massive water park formed from an Elf Tree House.
“Moira, don’t tell me you made this too?” Kai asked.
“Oh, that? It’s a mutated Elf Tree House. It needs a massive amount of water to survive, so I put it here.”
When I first found it, this Elf Tree House was on the verge of death. Unfortunately, it was located in a spot that was farthest from any water source.
Moira looked down at the Elf Tree House water park, stroking her chin as she said, “Looks like it’s grown again.”
After touring the ocean side, the group headed over to the volcanic region.
Compared to the ocean, progress in the volcanic region was much slower.
Just as they arrived in the airspace above this area, a violent tremor suddenly ran through the ground.
Immediately after, a jet of steaming water erupted from the ground.
Luckily, Moira and the others reacted quickly enough, or else they probably would have been boiled alive.
“This must be a geyser field.”
Moira said, glancing at a nearby robot recording data.
“Over one hundred thousand hot spring sites have been marked so far, but not many of them are usable. Most of them are too hot.”
Moira couldn’t help but sigh.
‘So many hot springs, and I can’t use any of them. It’s heartbreaking.’
After the group finished inspecting the key areas, they were very satisfied. However, transforming an entire planet into a resort was clearly not something that could be accomplished overnight.
Just as they finished their inspection and were preparing to leave, Moira suddenly stopped in her tracks, as if she had sensed something.
“What is it, Moira?”
Kai asked, seeing Moira hovering motionless in mid-air.
“My spiritual power seemed to detect a lifeform flash by just now, but it’s gone.”
Moira frowned. She was sure she hadn’t been mistaken, but it was too fast for her to track.
Now, even when she tried to search for a trace of it, she found nothing.
“A lifeform? Could it be a fish?”
Upon hearing this, Moira rolled her eyes at Kai. “This is a volcanic area. What kind of fish could possibly live here?”
Kai looked indignant. “How can you be so sure? This isn’t Caelus, it’s the wider galaxy. You can’t just deny something’s existence because you’ve never seen it.”
The more Kai spoke, the more self-assured he became, planting his hands on his hips with an expression that screamed, ‘Listen to me, I’m never wrong.’
Seeing his confident demeanor, Moira’s conviction began to waver.
‘Could it really be a fish?’
Just then, Patience suddenly appeared and said:
“Master, do not listen to his nonsense. The environment here is completely unsuitable for fish to survive.”
“If it’s not a fish, then what could it be?” Moira asked.
“I’m not sure either. When I conducted a secondary scan with the Planet Detector, I didn’t find any anomalies. Apart from some fish species, there were no other intelligent lifeforms. It’s possible it arrived here more recently. After all, this planet is highly suitable for life.”
Moira nodded, thinking Patience had a point.
“Well, if we want to find out, we should just go take a look,” Shane said.
Hearing this, Moira didn’t agree right away. Instead, she looked at Hugh Finch and asked if he could perform a divination first.
“Being so cautious… that’s not like you,” Hugh Finch said jokingly, though his hands were already moving through the gestures for a reading.
