When Carole Underwood was around, all these monsters had vanished. Now that she was gone, they were all popping up like mushrooms after a rain.

However, these monsters were facing Moira Lynch and Kai York.

Kai York was responsible for whipping up the wind to gather the swarming monsters together, while Moira Lynch would unleash the Annihilation Flame to wipe them all out in one go.

Unfortunately, despite continuously slaying monsters, they never again found any of those deep purple beads inside them like the one from before.

Moira Lynch couldn’t help but sigh, feeling it was a real shame. She had already made plans with Super delicious orange, but in the end, they hadn’t found a single one.

She blamed the monsters for being so useless. They hadn’t dropped a single bead.

Just as Kai York had once again trapped three or four monsters with his wind and Moira Lynch had burned them to a crisp, the two of them suddenly spotted a black human-like figure in the distance.

Compared to the monsters they had killed before, this figure looked significantly more solid. It was just...

It didn’t quite look human anymore.

"Hel...lo... there...!"

The shadowy figure raised its tentacle-like hand, waving in Moira Lynch and Kai York’s direction, followed by a halting and gratingly hoarse voice.

Just as the two braced themselves for a tough fight, the shadowy figure that had been greeting them began to swell violently.

In the blink of an eye, its already large body inflated rapidly, like a balloon being pumped full of air.

The two of them realized something was wrong and turned to run, but it was too late.

Seeing that the shadow-balloon was about to explode at any second, and knowing the Annihilation Flame was not an option, Moira Lynch, in a moment of urgency, threw out Super delicious orange.

Super delicious orange expanded rapidly in mid-air, swelling until it was even larger than the shadow-balloon.

The next second, it opened its great mouth and swallowed the shadow-balloon whole.

A deafening BOOM erupted.

The swallowed shadow-balloon had exploded right inside Super delicious orange.

The shockwave from the explosion dealt immense damage to Super delicious orange, but thankfully, it wasn’t destroyed.

Feeling Super delicious orange’s current state, Moira Lynch’s heart filled with fury toward the remaining shadowy figures.

PFFT~

With a sound much like a fart, Super delicious orange expelled the toxic gas from its body, then returned to Moira Lynch’s hand.

"You’ve worked hard."

Moira Lynch stroked the head of Super delicious orange, comforting it in a soft voice.

Upon hearing her words, Super delicious orange seemed to respond with a mind of its own, nuzzling her palm.

Moira Lynch put Super delicious orange away. The explosion had caused considerable internal damage, and it also needed to store the energy it had just swallowed for them. Therefore, it probably wouldn’t be able to make an appearance for a long time.

"Hey, how come I don’t feel anything this time?" Kai York said, pleasantly surprised.

God only knew how much despair he’d felt when he saw Moira Lynch throw Super delicious orange out again.

He knew it was the best solution under the circumstances, but the mere thought of once again experiencing that feeling—being stuffed to the point of vomiting without eating a single thing—made his legs go weak.

For a fleeting moment, he’d even thought that getting hit by the explosion wouldn’t be so bad. It wasn’t a guarantee that something terrible would happen, so why not take the risk?

Unfortunately, Moira Lynch had just been too fast.

In response to Kai York’s question, Moira Lynch said, "I already discussed this with it. I had it temporarily store the energy inside its body to be transferred to us little by little later."

"It can do that?"

Moira Lynch raised an eyebrow, her voice laced with pride and a hint of showing off. "It wouldn’t work for anyone else, of course. But who am I? I’m the savior, after all. A little thing like this is a piece of cake."

"However, from now on we don’t have Super delicious orange as a safety net. If we run into a similar situation, our only option will be to run."

Who would’ve thought these monsters would just self-destruct at the drop of a hat?

Having learned from this experience, the two became much more vigilant when they next faced the shadow monsters. No more wasting words. The moment one was spotted, Moira Lynch would immediately toss an Annihilation Flame at it, sending it to meet its maker.

During this time, Moira Lynch noticed that Kai York’s attacks had no effect on the shadowy figures. Even if he sliced them to pieces, they could still reform. The only difference was that their regeneration speed was directly proportional to how finely they were shredded.

Seeing this, Moira Lynch tried coating Kai York’s Wind Blades with the Annihilation Flame.

The cyan Wind Blades, wreathed in black flames, had an eerie look, but their power was not to be underestimated.

Moreover, this method had its advantages.

Kai York’s Wind Blades were fast and struck from unpredictable angles that the shadowy figures couldn’t dodge. But since they couldn’t inflict fatal damage, he’d have to unleash hundreds of blades on a single target in an instant to shred it, after which Moira Lynch would have to conveniently burn away the pieces.

This process was not only time-consuming but also a huge waste of energy.

But once Moira Lynch coated the Wind Blades with the Annihilation Flame, it only took a single strike. As the Wind Blade sliced through a shadow monster, the Annihilation Flame would simultaneously incinerate it into ash.

After killing an untold number of shadow monsters, Moira Lynch once again saw one of those purple beads.

With Super delicious orange out of commission, the purple bead hesitated for a moment before shooting straight toward Moira Lynch.

Seeing this, Moira Lynch quickly released her Annihilation Flame to block it.

The instant it made contact with the Annihilation Flame, a cloud of black mist seeped from the purple bead’s surface.

The black mist enveloped the purple bead, and though the mist itself was burned away, the bead within remained completely unscathed.

Moira Lynch remained calm. Just as the purple bead reached her, about to make contact with her skin...

The space before her suddenly warped, and in the next second, the purple bead vanished without a trace.

Everything had happened so fast that by the time Kai York could react, it was already over.

"Moira, are you okay?" Kai York asked, his voice laced with anxiety.

Moira Lynch shook her head. "I’m fine. The instant the purple bead was about to touch me, I created a Subspace. The bead is in there now."

"A Subspace? Will that be okay? I remember it takes time for you to construct them. A hastily made one isn’t very stable. Why not just use Super delicious orange?"

Moira Lynch shook her head. "I have other methods."
