Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 645 - 635: Hijacked
According to the information Patience provided, all these planets had items similar to Ice Chestnuts that could help increase a person’s resistance. Moreover, obtaining them wasn’t very dangerous, just rather time-consuming.
Moira Lynch’s original plan was for the four of them to split up and use this time to visit every location.
Now, with the help of these people, they had saved a lot of time.
While Moira Lynch was out locating the coordinates for each planet, the others weren’t idle either.
First, they started selecting personnel for the missions to the various planets. Then, there was the matter of Caelus.
The situation on Caelus had previously shown no signs of improvement and was in fact continuously deteriorating. Aside from deep-sea fish, nearly all other species—except for those that had been brought to Veridian Prime—had gone extinct.
In fact, faced with this situation, some had already proposed abandoning Caelus.
But now, they saw hope.
However, if Caelus were to be restored to its original state, then some of the measures they had previously taken would become unnecessary.
For instance, the massive underground heating system they had installed.
Its installation had consumed considerable manpower and resources, but of course, the results had been very gratifying.
Meanwhile, Moira Lynch carefully selected a route that passed by all the planets and then bought a ticket for it.
She then spent two days meticulously recording each of the locations it passed.
After she finished recording the coordinates of the final planet, Moira Lynch had Patience notify Shane Rhodes on Veridian Prime, telling them they could set out.
After finishing all this, Moira Lynch breathed a sigh of relief. She planned to get off the ship at the next stop and buy a return ticket.
However, just then, the unexpected happened.
The hull of the normally steady ship suddenly lurched, causing many people to fall to the ground.
After scrambling up from the floor, cursing and grumbling, they started shouting for the ship’s crew to ask what was going on.
The crew members were just as bewildered; they had no idea what had happened either. But faced with agitated passengers, they could only do their best to calm them.
When the ship lurched, Moira Lynch was fine because she was wearing her seatbelt. But she was also curious about what had happened, so she extended her spiritual power.
When her spiritual power reached the cockpit, a scene inside made her eyes widen in shock.
The captain responsible for piloting the ship had been taken hostage!
Moira Lynch’s breath hitched, and her expression turned grim.
Just then, a crew member approached with a smile and asked, "Miss, you don’t look so well. Is there a problem?"
Moira Lynch looked at the person before her but chose not to reveal what she had just seen.
First, to avoid causing unnecessary panic. Second, even if she did say something, no one would necessarily believe her. And the final reason was that she wasn’t sure if the hijackers had accomplices on the ship.
After all, from what she had just detected, there were only three hijackers in the cockpit.
Two were holding the hostages, while the other was piloting the ship.
They had secretly altered the ship’s course, which had caused the earlier lurch.
’Three people is too few. They must have accomplices on this ship.’
At this thought, Moira Lynch immediately put on a look of discomfort and said, "That jolt just now made me a bit sick. I’ll be fine after a little rest."
"Oh, I see. Let me get you a glass of water," the crew member said softly.
Soon, a glass of warm water was brought to her.
Moira Lynch said thank you, then picked up the glass and began to sip from it.
However, while she appeared to be drinking, the moment the water entered her throat, she instantly transferred it into her personal space.
Moira Lynch used the water to feed a Fragrant Rabbit.
Not long after drinking the water, the Fragrant Rabbit fell asleep.
Seeing this, Moira Lynch’s breath hitched again, but her expression remained unchanged. ’Just as I thought. There are definitely accomplices on this ship, and probably more than one.’
"I’m a little drowsy. I think I’ll sleep."
With that, Moira Lynch closed her eyes and pretended to fall into a deep sleep.
Seeing that she was asleep, the crew member took the glass and went on to serve other passengers.
’Patience, call for help!’
Moira Lynch said to Patience in her mind.
"I can’t, Master. They’re using a signal jamming device. The Intelligent Brain can still function, but I can’t send any messages to the outside. Plus, they’re monitoring us. The moment we try to contact anyone, they’ll know."
Hearing this, Moira Lynch was stunned and filled with regret. ’I really picked a bad day to travel.’
’Not even you can break through?’ Moira Lynch asked, unwilling to give up.
"I’m sorry, Master. This device was specifically designed to counter Intelligent Brains. There’s nothing I can do right now."
’It’s not your fault. Don’t blame yourself.’
In the end, Moira Lynch decided to wait and see what the hijackers were planning.
The fact that they had used a sleeping drug on her instead of poison suggested they didn’t want the passengers dead.
Perhaps they didn’t want to blow things out of proportion, or perhaps they had other uses for the passengers.
After a flight of about seven or eight hours, the ship finally began a slow descent.
At this point, the accomplices hidden on the ship finally revealed themselves. All in all, there were more than a dozen of them.
Moira Lynch was glad she hadn’t acted impulsively. If all dozen-plus of them had attacked at once, she really wasn’t sure she could have beaten them.
Besides, the space inside the ship was tight, and these people were armed. If a fight broke out, it would be very easy for innocent people to get hurt.
The other passengers didn’t dare to resist the armed hijackers. Just a moment ago, someone in the crowd had muttered the word "pirates," and in the next second, they were shot in the head.
This made Moira Lynch realize that these people weren’t merciful; they just had other plans for the passengers.
As for what those plans were, she didn’t know, but it was definitely nothing good.
She hid herself in the crowd, trying to minimize her presence to make it easier for her to escape later.
They were herded off the ship.
Ever since she learned that these people were using a device that specifically targeted Intelligent Brains, Moira Lynch had avoided communicating with Patience as much as possible.
But now, seeing the scene before her, even without an explanation from Patience, she knew exactly where they had been taken.
And at the same time, she also guessed the fate that awaited them.
