After discussing the zombie tide and the necessary precautions, Mark Rhodes left with the two hundred thousand Awakening Potions from Moira Lynch.

He needed to use the time before the zombie tide arrived to distribute all these Awakening Potions and help more people awaken their superpowers.

After Mark Rhodes left, Shane Rhodes asked, "How far is the zombie tide from the base now?"

"About a few kilometers away. There are quite a few high-level zombies, the strongest being three level-five zombies. It’s unlikely they’re the leader," Moira Lynch answered honestly.

Her spiritual power enveloped most of the zombie tide, but she couldn’t find any trace of a zombie leader. She didn’t know if it hadn’t appeared yet or if it was already in disguise.

However, she was more inclined to believe the latter.

Kai York couldn’t help but scratch his head. "Hasn’t the apocalypse only been going on for about a month? How are there already such high-level zombies? What’s the deal with this Cosmic Consciousness? It’s like it has no intention of letting anyone on this planet survive."

Moira Lynch sighed. ’Rather than the Cosmic Consciousness, it’s more like the system that took over this planet is full of malice toward humanity.’

’After all, the system was the one that spread the zombie virus in the first place.’

’And this virus was clearly more beneficial to plants and animals, promoting their evolution. Humans, on the other hand, lost nearly eighty percent of their population almost overnight.’

After a brief discussion, they decided to go on the offensive.

Since both Moira Lynch and Kai York could fly, only the two of them went.

Hugh Finch’s own talent had no offensive capabilities, so Shane Rhodes was left behind to protect him.

When the zombies besieged the city, it would be crowded and chaotic. ’Who knows what might happen then?’ Moira Lynch didn’t want any accidents, not even friendly fire.

With the decision made, Moira Lynch put away the Crystal Cores Mark Rhodes had left behind before he departed, then left the base with Kai York.

Arriving a few kilometers from the base, they were met by a dark, oppressive mass of zombies—a sight that would give anyone a phobia of dense crowds.

They hadn’t come here this time to kill every single zombie. After all, with such a massive number of them, wiping them all out in one go was simply impossible.

So their target this time was just the high-level zombies.

High-level zombies meant higher intelligence. After realizing they were outmatched, they would turn and flee.

However, it seemed some kind of pressure was keeping them from truly leaving. So they just relocated, attempting to hide among the ordinary zombies to get by.

However, neither Moira Lynch nor Kai York ever needed a specific location; a general area was all they required.

A wisp of pure black flame appeared in Moira Lynch’s hand. Soon, the flame extended endlessly, looking like a lit whip. With a light flick, large numbers of zombies were annihilated.

As the zombies vanished, Crystal Cores of various colors fell to the ground.

Seeing this, the surrounding zombies were immediately drawn in, wanting to snatch these Crystal Cores.

How could Moira Lynch possibly let her spoils of war be snatched away by others?

Soon, using this method, Moira Lynch collected a pile of Crystal Cores.

While she was wreaking havoc on the zombies, Kai York on the other side was no less impressive. A fierce wind raged around him, and wherever his sharp Wind Blades passed, zombies were left strewn across the ground.

The two of them rampaged through the zombie horde, slaughtering high-level and ordinary zombies alike. When their energy ran out, they replenished it with nutrient liquid.

However, no matter how many they killed, the zombie tide seemed endless. In fact, as soon as they finished killing all the high-level zombies, new ones would immediately emerge.

"This isn’t working. These zombies are clearly disciplined. We have to find the leader," Moira Lynch said.

When Mark Rhodes had mentioned it before, she hadn’t paid it much mind, thinking ’it’s just one leader, we just have to kill it.’ But now, she understood just how terrifying this leader was.

She and Kai York had killed countless high-level and ordinary zombies, yet the leader hiding in the back didn’t seem worried in the slightest.

"Easier said than done. How are we supposed to find it? We don’t have a single clue, we don’t even know where it is." Kai York tilted his head back and drained a bottle of nutrient liquid, then looked up and unleashed a tornado.

In the blink of an eye, a patch of ground was cleared.

However, before long, the clearing was once again filled with zombies.

The two of them had been killing nonstop for several hours, but the number of zombies still showed no signs of decreasing.

Moira Lynch thought for a moment and decided to call for backup.

Meanwhile, the zombies had already reached the vicinity of the base.

Fortunately, thanks to Mark Rhodes’s information, the base was already prepared.

Mark Rhodes stood on the base’s city wall, flanked by Shane Rhodes and Hugh Finch.

Mark Rhodes’s expression was grim as he looked at the zombie army that stretched as far as the eye could see. Fortunately, he noticed that they were all low-level zombies; there wasn’t a single high-level one among them.

Low-level zombies moved slowly and could be handled even by an ordinary person. What they really had to be careful of were the special zombies—the ones that had awakened superpowers.

A steady stream of soldiers rushed over.

These were all people who had just awakened their superpowers. They were keenly aware of how precious the Awakening Potions were, yet Mark Rhodes, their Young Master, had produced so many in one go, just to help them awaken their superpowers.

Moved, these people also swore an oath in their hearts: they would protect the base, even if it cost them their lives.

Just then, several bolts of purple lightning descended from the sky, landing right in the middle of the zombie horde.

The earth-shattering BOOM was like a signal, and countless Superpower Users simultaneously launched their attacks on the zombies below.

At that moment, Hugh Finch received Moira Lynch’s call for help.

"Can’t find the leader?"

Hugh Finch began making calculations, pinching his fingers together where he stood.

However, the more he calculated, the tighter his brow furrowed. He couldn’t calculate the zombie leader’s exact position. ’No, that’s not right. It’s not that I can’t calculate it, but that the zombie leader’s position is shifting left and right, east and west, making it impossible to pin down.’

After he relayed the results of his calculation to Moira Lynch through the Communication Corridor, Moira immediately realized what was happening. The zombie leader they were looking for had likely awakened a Space Ability.

And it was the same type as Moira Lynch’s: Space Movement, geared toward mobility.

That would explain why they couldn’t find the zombie leader. It had been constantly moving around the battlefield from the very beginning.

’If that’s the case...’

"Snowy, come out."

Seeing Moira Lynch release her Spiritual Body, Kai York suddenly slapped his forehead. ’How could I have forgotten about that?’
