Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 622 - 612: Zombie 7
What the flower shop owner had called a pot of succulents in the photo was actually an extra-long, extra-wide planter.
She wasn’t sure of the exact size, as it was impossible to tell from the photo. But the planter’s material... well, she was absolutely certain she wasn’t mistaken about that. It was marble.
Seeing the shock in Moira Lynch’s eyes, the flower shop owner scratched his head, a little embarrassed. "I’ve loved flowers and plants ever since I was a kid, especially succulents," he explained. "I’ve always found them incredibly cute.
Ever since I opened this shop, whenever I came across a particularly fine succulent, I’d keep it for myself and plant them all in the same pot.
Eventually, I had so many succulents that the pot became too small, so I ordered this deluxe marble planter."
’...’ ’Fair enough. Everyone has their little hobbies,’ Moira Lynch thought.
Looking at the succulents in the photo, even though they were a bit distant, the angle was perfect, fully capturing their beauty.
According to Patience’s description, these succulents must have undergone a positive mutation as well.
"I’ll add half a carton of cigarettes. I’ll take the succulents."
’I’ve bought so much already. What’s a little more?’
This time, however, the flower shop owner didn’t agree right away.
"I don’t want cigarettes this time. Could I get some alcohol instead?" the flower shop owner asked cautiously.
"Of course. What would you like? Red wine, spirits, or cocktails? I don’t have any beer, though."
In the end, the flower shop owner took a bottle of red wine and a bottle of spirits and left to go get the flowers.
While he was gone, Moira Lynch surveyed the flowers in the living room.
The living room was practically overflowing with all sorts of flowers. A medley of floral fragrances mingled in the air, lingering around her.
Among them, roses, Chinese roses, peonies, and multiflora roses were the most numerous, likely because they were the best sellers.
There were also hydrangeas, sunflowers, daisies, tulips, and lilies.
Looking at the flowers, Moira Lynch produced a pair of scissors from somewhere and walked over to a pot of the most vibrantly blooming roses.
In just a few moments, the lushly blooming rose bush was stripped bare.
’Well, this makes them much easier to store. It saves space, too.’
Moira Lynch tossed a ball of Healing Flame into the pot to ensure the plant wouldn’t mysteriously die inside her Space Button.
Moira Lynch then repeated the process. She stored the clipped flowers separately; it seemed a waste to throw them away, and this way, she could study their properties later.
By the time the flower shop owner returned, Moira Lynch had already processed most of the larger flowering plants like the roses and peonies. The living room, now containing only a few small potted plants, felt significantly more spacious.
The flower shop owner was surprised for a moment when he came in, but he didn’t dwell on it, simply assuming Moira Lynch had moved all the flowers upstairs.
This time, the owner didn’t come alone. Two other people were with him, and together they carried the enormous marble planter inside.
After setting the planter down in the living room, they left.
Once they were gone, Moira Lynch took a closer look at the succulents. There was indeed a vast variety, and each plant was so translucent it looked as if it were carved from crystal. They were stunningly beautiful.
She tossed a ball of Healing Flame onto them as usual before storing the planter in her Space Button. She followed the same procedure for the remaining flowers until only a single pot of catnip was left.
’It’s a good thing I got an extra Space Button,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, I really wouldn’t have been able to fit so many potted plants.’
However, seeing that her storage space was already more than halfway full, Moira Lynch decided she needed to find some shelves to maximize its capacity when she had the time.
’If I’d known, I would have grabbed a few more cabinets.’
「On the fourth day of the game」
Moira Lynch woke up early and headed outside. She had just received a message: Shane Rhodes had arrived at Dawnlight Base.
By the time Moira Lynch reached the base entrance, Shane Rhodes was already inside.
Upon seeing Shane Rhodes, Moira Lynch said eagerly, "Perfect timing. Come with me to the Mission Hall to get you registered. I need to post a mission anyway."
Shane Rhodes didn’t object, simply falling in step beside Moira Lynch.
They had already filled each other in on their respective situations the day before.
Once they reached the Mission Hall, Shane Rhodes went to register his information while Moira Lynch headed to the mission posting area.
It was less like posting a mission and more like placing an advertisement.
slots open for the seriously injured. Cost: 100 Crystal Cores per treatment. All Attributes welcome. Full recovery guaranteed. Serious injuries only, no minor cases.
The staff member at the counter stared for a moment, likely having never seen anyone post a mission quite like this before.
But upon seeing that Moira Lynch was a Healing Superpower User, they went ahead and posted her advertisement—er, message.
Meanwhile, several Superpower User teams were in the Mission Hall, browsing for available missions.
Moira Lynch’s notice had just appeared on the board, and it immediately drew everyone’s attention.
"A hundred Crystal Cores? That’s so expensive, you might as well be robbing people! Just because you’re a Healing Superpower User, you think you can do whatever you want? Miss White is a Healing Superpower User too, and her treatments are free. Now *that’s* class!"
"If you don’t like it, don’t go. No one’s forcing you. That Miss White you’re gushing about is a total amateur. She’s fine for minor scrapes, but if you get seriously hurt, you still have to find someone else."
...
Moira Lynch ignored their bickering and left with Shane Rhodes, who had finished his registration.
Back at her villa, the Ragdoll Cat was startled by the strange human’s sudden appearance. Its fur instantly puffed up, and it hissed threateningly at Shane Rhodes.
"What’s with this cat?"
Shane knew that Moira had always liked keeping small animals, but that was on Caelus. This was a game.
Knowing Moira Lynch as he did, Shane Rhodes’ first reaction to seeing the Ragdoll Cat was to wonder what was so special about it.
As it turned out, he was right.
He was stunned for a long moment when Moira Lynch told him that the exceptionally beautiful little cat had awakened two talents: Charm and Air Manipulation.
"She’s a female," Moira Lynch said with a grin. "I plan on taking her back to be Pip’s little wife."
"Pip will be thrilled," Shane said. "He won’t have to be Calico’s simp anymore. If I remember correctly, Calico was already on her second litter before we even entered the game."
Of course, that litter wasn’t Pip’s either. The father was a tabby cat that had also awakened a superpower.
Moira Lynch laughed at the memory. Once she’d settled, she asked, "By the way, how many Space Buttons did you bring with you this time?"
"Three," Shane Rhodes answered readily. "A ten-cubic-meter ring, a twenty-cubic-meter backpack, and a one-hundred-cubic-meter stud earring."
