The moment The General finished speaking, the gazes of most of the support-type players present all swiveled in unison to Shane Rhodes.

After all, among every single player present, Shane Rhodes’s talent was the strongest in combat.

Naturally, MoonlitTears was no exception.

She gave Shane Rhodes a look full of unspoken words, her meaning self-evident.

But upon seeing this, The General’s face darkened completely.

Shane Rhodes naturally noticed the other players’ gazes as well, and an arrogant expression couldn’t help but appear on his face.

But his expression didn’t last long. When his eyes met the emotionless gaze of Joy Rhodes, Shane Rhodes’s body instantly froze. With an agile move, as if teleporting, he appeared behind Joy Rhodes.

"Sis, let’s team up."

"Mm."

Joy Rhodes slowly nodded, then glanced at everyone, including MoonlitTears. Her expression seemed to say, ’You people think you can compete with me?’

Seeing they had no chance there, some people turned their gazes to Kai York.

A Wind Talent was also very powerful at sea.

To this, Moira Lynch’s expression was one of deep regret. ’Sorry, you’re too late.’

Seeing this, the others felt unwilling, but there was nothing they could do. Besides, these few people clearly knew each other; even if they tried to forcibly split the group up, they likely wouldn’t agree.

In the end, everyone found their own teammates.

MoonlitTears chose The General as her teammate.

It was clear that The General was very pleased with her choice.

After all, MoonlitTears was the only doctor on the team now. Being paired with her meant any injuries could be treated promptly.

After the groups were formed, MoonlitTears suddenly said, "Acting in pairs is still a bit risky. Why don’t a few of our groups move together? It would be safer."

"Sounds good to me. Hey, Boss, let’s have our groups move together," Kai York said, looking at Shane Rhodes.

Shane Rhodes nodded. "Alright."

Seeing herself completely ignored, MoonlitTears’s expression instantly turned ugly.

"What, you’re that eager to team up with them?"

The General looked at MoonlitTears, his face grim.

His talent was a physical mutation; his arms could transform into a pair of incomparably sharp, mantis-like scythes.

With this talent, he had been invincible in previous games. Now, MoonlitTears’s repeated attempts to team up with others were simply an insult to him.

Seeing his grim expression, MoonlitTears hurriedly explained, "No, that’s not it. I just think it’s safer this way. Besides, your talent is for close combat, and I can only heal. Finding a teammate with a ranged attack would give us better protection."

After hearing her explanation, The General gave her a suspicious look but seemed to accept it.

"Even if we were to pick someone, there are plenty of others with ranged attack talents. It doesn’t have to be him."

The "him" he was referring to was, of course, Shane Rhodes.

Ever since learning about Shane Rhodes’s talent, The General had grown hostile towards him, feeling that this person would threaten his position.

Shane Rhodes dismissed The General’s passive-aggressive tone as nothing more than a fart.

After a simple assignment, the groups of Shane Rhodes, Moira Lynch, and Hugh Finch were assigned to patrol duty tonight.

"You have no objections to my arrangement, do you?" The General looked at Moira Lynch and the others, his eyes filled with provocation.

"If you have any objections, feel free to speak up. After all, you haven’t been very social. As the leader of this team, I’m supposed to consider every member’s feelings."

"No need. This is fine," Shane Rhodes said unhurriedly.

Seeing that Shane Rhodes didn’t argue, The General retracted his gaze with satisfaction. He straightened up, puffed out his chest, and imposingly addressed the surrounding players, "Since no one has any objections, we’ll proceed with the plan I just laid out. Dismissed for now."

When night fell, Moira Lynch and the others began their patrol.

In truth, this was all a waste of effort. Moira Lynch had already scanned the entire ship several times with her spiritual power early on.

It was no exaggeration to say she knew exactly how many planks and nails were on the ship. She even knew the location of the several boxes of canned food the captain had secretly stashed in his cabin.

So while they called it a patrol, they were really just going through the motions.

After they finished, the six of them went out onto the deck.

"The ship is safe. What we need to watch out for now is the sea."

The moment Hugh Finch finished speaking, Moira Lynch and the others all looked over at him.

"What did you divine?" Shane Rhodes asked.

"Nothing much. Just that our danger might come from the sea."

Hearing this, they all turned to look at the sea.

The ship’s faint lights shone on the water’s surface. Aside from the sound of the ship cutting through the water, they couldn’t see anything else.

"By the way, Hugh Finch, what was with you today? If you’re going to make something up, at least make it believable. If that General guy asks you to do a reading later, I’d like to see how you’ll handle it," Kai York said irritably.

At that, Hugh Finch snapped open the imaginary fan in his hand with a SWISH. He fanned himself pretentiously before saying with a profoundly mysterious expression, "Fear not. This mountain hermit has a brilliant plan."

Hearing this, Kai York couldn’t help but roll his eyes. "Yeah, right. I totally believe you."

But he didn’t press the matter any further.

Just then, Moira Lynch suddenly looked behind them.

’Something seems to be catching up from behind, but it’s still far away. It looks like it’s deliberately keeping its distance.’

"Something’s catching up."

Moira Lynch used her spiritual power to convey this to Hugh Finch.

"You can talk to me with spiritual power? Can you hear my thoughts?"

Moira Lynch silently rolled her eyes. ’Can you please focus on what’s important?’

Still, she answered his question. "I just used my spiritual power to create a simple Communication Corridor between us. I don’t have the Mind Reading Technique, so I can’t hear your thoughts."

"Aww~"

Hugh Finch was a little disappointed. But still, a Communication Corridor... The Spiritual System talents were really something else.

’Getting off topic, getting off topic.’

"You said something is catching up from behind. Can you determine what it is?" Hugh Finch asked.

"It’s still a bit far, a few thousand meters away. But I’m sure they’re fish. There are about a dozen of them," Moira Lynch reported truthfully.

"Your detection range actually reaches several thousand meters!!??"

Moira Lynch gave him a look as if to say he was overreacting.

A few thousand meters wasn’t even her limit. It was just that if she spread her spiritual power too wide, the accuracy of her detection would decrease.

For example, right now, if she were to fully extend her spiritual power, she might not have noticed something approaching and would have just dismissed them as ordinary fish.

"But from so far away, how can you be sure we’re their target?"
