Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 406 - 396: Took the Wrong Treasure Chest

Redcloud’s request wasn’t a difficult task for Moira Lynch.

After all, besides healing, she also possessed a talent for spiritual power.

While her spiritual power didn’t have much offensive capability, locking onto a person was no problem at all.

So, after they lit the Cat’s Repose incense to prevent the Queen Bee from commanding her subjects, the real battle finally began.

Redcloud took on the Queen Bee, while Moira Lynch hid nearby. The moment she saw Redcloud get hurt, she would fling a Healing Skill his way, topping off his health just as it began to drop.

What’s more, Moira Lynch’s Healing Skill seemed to have a built-in tracking device. No matter how tricky his angle or how slick his footwork, the spell always landed squarely on him.

At first, Redcloud had been worried that Moira Lynch might be unreliable. But after fighting the Queen Bee for some time, he realized he was still at full health.

Having seen how capable Moira Lynch was, he began to focus solely on his battle with the Queen Bee.

The Queen Bee was massive and attacked with incredible speed. Its two largest mandibles could easily snap a tree as thick as a man’s arm.

Its two front limbs glinted coldly, sharp as razors, and the stinger on its abdomen could spray a venom capable of dissolving stone.

Before the fight, Redcloud had explained to Moira Lynch just how potent the Queen Bee’s venom was. If poisoned, a player would continuously lose health unless they took royal jelly as an antidote.

The longer one was poisoned, the more severe it became, and the faster their health would drain.

Against such a formidable Queen Bee, while Redcloud’s skills were top-notch, his level wasn’t high—only slightly better than Moira Lynch’s.

This meant he stood no chance of winning in a one-on-one fight, which was why he had sought out other players to form a party.

As Redcloud fought, Moira Lynch threw in the occasional Attack Magic in addition to her Healing Skills.

Thanks to her Snow Maiden identity, all of her attack spells were Ice Element, effectively slowing the Queen Bee’s movements.

When the Queen Bee’s wings were frozen once again, Redcloud seized the opportunity to glance over at Moira Lynch. "Nice one," he said.

With that, Redcloud immediately drew his bow and fired an arrow at the Queen Bee’s weak spot, landing a rare critical hit for over a thousand damage.

The Queen Bee collapsed.

At the same time, a dialog box popped up in front of them.

[Congratulations players Redcloud and Moira Lynch on defeating the Queen Bee. You have obtained two Green Treasure Chests.]

Redcloud walked over, holding the two chests that were glowing green. "You’re really skilled," he said. "We should add each other as friends."

He thought Moira Lynch was incredibly skilled, especially when it came to the accuracy of her spells.

This was true for both her Healing Skill and her Attack Magic.

He had been moving at high speed the entire time to dodge the Queen Bee’s attacks. Under those conditions, forget a Mage—even a seasoned Priest couldn’t guarantee their skills would land on him one hundred percent of the time.

Yet this person had not only managed it, but she’d done it without him needing to deliberately cooperate or even slow down. Throughout the entire fight, his health hadn’t even dropped below eighty percent, let alone fifty.

The moment his health started to dip, it was instantly brought back up.

He could tell Moira Lynch wasn’t a frequent gamer. She had no concept of positioning and couldn’t predict movements.

But her ability to land her skills with one-hundred-percent accuracy more than made up for all her other shortcomings.

This feeling—of being able to fight with abandon, without a single worry—was just too good.

’If only she had chosen to be a Priest,’ he couldn’t help but sigh internally. ’She’d be an absolutely god-tier healer.’

"Oh, okay!" The two shook hands, successfully adding each other to their friends lists.

If anyone familiar with Redcloud had been there to witness this scene and hear those words, they would have been absolutely dumbfounded.

After all, he was famously aloof. Many of his own friends weren’t on his friends list, let alone a complete stranger.

The Queen Bee had dropped two treasure chests, one for each of them.

Redcloud was the first to open his chest. He received a piece of equipment and a skill book: [Starlight Ribbon] and [Petals Road].

[Starlight Ribbon]

Green-tier Equipment.

Ability: When used, it wraps around an enemy like a snake, immobilizing them.

[Petals Road]

Description: After learning, the user can attack enemies with petals. Petals will also automatically appear beneath the user’s feet while walking.

Requirement: Mage

For Redcloud, these two items were... well, it wouldn’t be right to say they were mostly useless. They were completely and utterly useless—the definition of vendor trash.

Both the Starlight Ribbon and Petals Road were clearly items for a Mage.

Then it was Moira Lynch’s turn to open her chest.

Inside Moira Lynch’s chest was a single piece of equipment: an arrow.

[Bee King’s Arrow]

An arrow as sharp as the Queen Bee’s stinger, its tip coated in a deadly poison.

Requirement: Archer.

Moira Lynch and Redcloud looked at the items they had gotten, then at each other’s.

"Trade?" Moira Lynch asked first.

"Trade," Redcloud replied without hesitation.

At the same time, the same thought popped into both their heads: ’Did we grab the wrong chests?’

Redcloud might have been losing out by trading two items for Moira Lynch’s one, but such things were all about supply and demand. As long as the parties involved were happy, that was all that mattered.

After getting the items they wanted, the two parted ways.

Moira Lynch learned the Petals Road skill. The very next second, a flurry of pink petals appeared at her feet.

The petals danced and fluttered around her as she walked.

Upon closer observation, Moira Lynch confirmed that under normal circumstances, the petals would vanish once they were about a meter away from her.

Seeing this, Moira Lynch breathed a sigh of relief. She had realized it seemed to be a passive effect that couldn’t be turned off.

’If the petals didn’t disappear, it would be a huge problem if I ever needed to run and hide.’

As for the Starlight Ribbon, Moira Lynch was currently wearing a Rabbit-themed outfit and didn’t have an available slot to equip it, so she stored it in her inventory for now.

Moira Lynch checked the time. ’I’ve been out for so long. The renovations should be finished by now.’

With that thought, she returned to her territory, only to find it surrounded by a massive crowd, three layers deep inside and three layers deep outside. She couldn’t get through at all.

"What’s everyone gathered here for?"

Moira Lynch stopped a player from The Elven Race and asked curiously.

The Elven player shook his head, looking clueless. "I don’t know either. I just saw on the forums that a huge crowd was here and thought there might be a hidden quest, so I came over to check it out."

But when I got here, I couldn’t even squeeze through. Forget about a quest, there wasn’t even a whiff of one.
