Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 374 - 364: Roleplaying a Game NPC 12
However, Moira Lynch didn’t get to be smug for long, because Lily’s companions had arrived.
Moira Lynch looked at the players who suddenly appeared before her. Although none of them were as high-level as her, the way they stood there gave off an "I’m the boss" vibe.
However, Moira Lynch’s attention was caught by the equipment this group was wearing.
Seeing their gear, and then looking back at the equipment she’d stripped off the previous players, she suddenly felt it wasn’t so great anymore.
Knowing these people wouldn’t be as easy to handle as the last group, Moira Lynch got serious.
She formed water orbs at the top of her conch shell and attacked the players one by one.
Players who were fast and kept their distance could easily dodge the attacks, but those who were closer weren’t so lucky and got doused.
Moira Lynch’s water orbs were no ordinary projectiles; they were mixed with Green Snail Poison.
As a result, all the players who had been hit were now poisoned, their Life Value dropping at a visible rate.
"Crap, the boss uses poison! Let’s end this quick!"
One of the players shouted to his companions.
The moment he spoke, everyone attacked at once.
This clearly wasn’t their first time working together; their teamwork was seamless.
Everyone played their part. Their movements were simple and unadorned, yet brutally effective—a masterclass in returning to the basics.
Watching her own health bar steadily decrease, Moira Lynch prayed, ’Hurry up and finish me off, I want to clock out for the day.’
Even though she wanted to get off work early, Moira Lynch had no intention of going easy on them. She continuously unleashed skills on the players.
Toward the end of the fight, she even triggered her passive, entering a Berserk state.
Moira Lynch glanced at her Life Value, now down to one-fifth, then at the opposing team, whose ranks were still full.
The players had two healers, and with both working in tandem, they had managed to keep the entire team’s health up.
At this point, Moira Lynch knew she was close to clocking out. ’But before I go, I have to take at least one of them with me. Anything less would be a complete failure.’
With this thought, Moira Lynch fixed her gaze on a single person.
’It’s you,’ she thought, ’the one dressed in green, hopping around like a grasshopper.’
Besides, other than the healers, this player had been casting skills the most frequently. Most importantly, his Life Value was the lowest of all the players.
’Of course I’m going to pick the softest target.’
With a roar, Moira Lynch unleashed an AoE skill: Thunderstorm Rain.
While everyone was immobilized, a bolt of lightning as thick as a wrist shot toward her chosen target.
The instant the skill hit, the player’s Life Value dropped to a mere sliver.
Moira Lynch looked disappointed. She had thought that blow would be a guaranteed kill.
[Skill: Unyielding Spirit
Ability: Upon receiving a fatal blow, retain a sliver of Life Value.]
Seeing this, Lily immediately healed him, while the others seized the opportunity to launch their final assault on Moira Lynch.
Finally, under the combined assault, Moira Lynch resentfully closed her eyes, her body dissolving into a ball of light.
The ball of light slowly descended, and a woman with fair skin, long, curly green hair, and even green eyes appeared.
That’s right, this was the character Moira Lynch was playing, the Conch Maiden, Veridia.
"Thank you for setting me free." Moira Lynch recited her line.
Lily looked at the person who had appeared. She wasn’t red-named, not an enemy. "That Azure Conch boss just now... was that you?" she asked.
Moira Lynch nodded. "Many years ago I was captured by a Daoist. He sealed me here to guard the gate. Only those who defeat me can set me free, so thank you. This is your reward."
With a wave of her hand, Moira Lynch summoned three balls of light before Lily.
These three balls of light were three different items: a map, a key, and a bracelet.
That’s right, it was the bracelet that Moira Lynch had made.
Moira Lynch hadn’t originally planned to give it away, but on second thought, ’It’s no use to me, anyway. It’s all just in-game stuff.’
She still had two more characters to roleplay, so she might as well give one bracelet away for each.
[Space Bracelet: A bracelet casually carved by the village chief’s daughter and given a simple polish. It is a crude-looking accessory, but this simple item holds an extraordinary power.
Ability 1: Personal Backpack. Features an auto-loot function. Never worry about loot ninjas again while you’re focused on the fight!
Ability 2: Space Teleportation. Pre-select a coordinate; the Space Bracelet allows you to travel back and forth to that location.
PS: This is one of the Special Items. It can be brought into reality with 3,000 Real Exchange Coupons.
Friendly Reminder: An item brought into reality will be permanently removed from the game. Please choose carefully.]
Lily read the item’s description. At first, she didn’t think much of it, merely wondering why an Azure Conch boss would have an item made by the village chief’s daughter.
But the further she read, the more shocked she became. This item was simply god-tier.
Her eyes widened, especially when she saw the final two words: "Special Items."
Although she often fought bosses and got all sorts of good drops, these Special Items were still incredibly rare.
Seeing her stunned, other players asked, "Lily, what’s wrong? Is there a problem with the item?"
"No problem, I’ve sent the info for the three items to the chat channel. See for yourself."
Compared to the Space Bracelet, the other two items paled in comparison.
After all, a key and a map—you knew what they were for at a glance.
After seeing the description of the Space Bracelet, the other players also gasped.
At that moment, a player said, "Do you guys remember the Healing Ring from the game forums? The creator in its description was also the village chief’s daughter."
"There are countless villages in Divine Soul. How can you be sure the two village chief’s daughters are the same person? What if they’re different people?" one person said.
Despite his words, everyone knew that was unlikely.
"It’s confirmed now, that village chief’s daughter must be a hidden NPC. Why don’t we go look for her too?"
Ever since the news about the Healing Ring came out, countless people had been staking out the village chief’s house every day, just to find his daughter. It was said that even the military, The Royals, and the pirates had been stirred to action.
But ever since Moira Lynch’s role-playing gig ended, the Divine Soul officials hadn’t immediately found someone to replace her in the role.
