Chapter 365 - 355: Playing a Game NPC 3

Hearing that this was the only quest available, all the players went into a frenzy. They bolted outside without a second glance, terrified someone else would complete the quest before they got there.

Moira Lynch could see everything the players saw, so her eyes went wide when she saw the "healing item handcrafted by the village chief’s daughter."

’Wait, shouldn’t quest rewards be provided by the game’s official system? What’s this about making me craft it myself?’

A quest interface had even appeared right in front of her.

[As his daughter, please prepare a generous reward for the hero who brings the village chief back safely.]

’Fine, fine, fine. So that’s how we’re playing it, huh?’

When Moira Lynch came back to her senses, she realized one person hadn’t left like the other players.

"Do you have any other questions, brave hero?"

Moira Lynch asked, a gentle smile gracing her lips.

The player named Lord Fair-reign wore a polite smile and said, "I just wanted to ask for more specific details about the village chief’s disappearance. What herbs was he planning to gather on the mountain? That would help me narrow down the search area and rescue him faster."

’No one else is asking, but you have to. You think you’re the smart one, don’t you?’

Moira Lynch replied softly, "Father headed south when he left, but I don’t know his exact destination. I’ve been frail since birth and have been taking medicine my whole life. Before he left, Father said that once he brought back this herb, my weakness could finally be cured."

It wasn’t that Moira Lynch didn’t want to provide more information; it was simply all she had in her character profile.

After listening to Moira Lynch, Lord Fair-reign looked thoughtful. A moment later, he asked, "May I go inside and ask the village chief’s wife a few questions?"

Moira Lynch nodded. "You may. But Mother is in a very bad mood because of Father’s disappearance. Please be careful what you say when you go in."

Lord Fair-reign nodded and headed into the room.

Seizing the opportunity, Moira Lynch also made her way to the backyard.

’Before any new players show up, I need to hurry to the backyard, find something usable, and get this task done.’

’Can’t believe being an NPC involves arts and crafts.’

Following the directions in her profile, Moira Lynch went to the storehouse.

She opened the door to find it filled with all sorts of miscellaneous junk.

Moira Lynch rummaged through the mess and, after much searching, managed to find a few pieces of wood that looked halfway decent.

’This wood looks a bit like the golden-thread nanmu from Caelus. It’s actually quite pretty.’

’Such beautiful wood... what should I make?’

’Nothing too big, that would take too much time. I’ll make something small.’

After some thought, she decided a bracelet or a ring would be simplest. All she had to do was carve out a circle and then polish it.

In the end, Moira Lynch used her tools to carve a ring and two bracelets from a piece of wood.

After a bit of polishing, both the ring and the bracelets became quite beautiful.

They were like jade bracelets—even unpolished, in their raw form, their inherent quality made them beautiful.

Just as Moira Lynch was thinking about picking one of the three items to turn in for the quest, another prompt appeared before her.

[Enchant the three crafted items?]

[Yes / No]

Seeing this, Moira Lynch hesitated for a moment before selecting "Yes."

Immediately, four options appeared below:

Enchantment Effect 1: Spirit Enchantment. After enchanting, the item can enhance the holder’s spiritual power and nullify all spiritual attacks (the attacker’s level cannot be more than three levels higher than the holder’s).

If the opponent’s level is lower than the holder’s, they can be directly controlled with no side effects.

Enchantment Effect 2: Space Enchantment. After enchanting, the item will become a huge backpack with an auto-loot function. It can also open a Teleportation Gate to transport people to a designated location.

(This function has a three-hour cooldown and requires a teleportation point to be set in advance.)

Enchantment Effect 3: Healing Enchantment. After enchanting, the item will possess a Healing Ability, automatically healing the holder when they take damage. It can also cast a wide-range Healing Spell. If the holder already possesses a Healing Spell, the item can enhance its effect.

(This function has a ten-minute cooldown.)

Enchantment Effect 4: Destruction Enchantment: A very dangerous Enchantment. The medium is currently unable to withstand this Enchantment. Please use with caution.

Moira Lynch looked at the different enchantment options. ’Aren’t these just my innate talents?’

After some thought, she applied the Healing Enchantment to the ring and the Spirit and Space Enchantments to the two bracelets, respectively.

After she finished, another large group of players flooded into the village chief’s house. Moira Lynch gave out the quest as usual, then had to deal with several more players who peppered her with questions.

These players were very experienced, and their questions were quite tricky.

Unfortunately for them, Moira Lynch truly didn’t know anything.

When the players saw they couldn’t get anything out of Moira Lynch, they turned to look for the village chief’s wife instead.

Just then, a player who looked to be only eleven or twelve years old, with a pair of fluffy red ears on her head and a bushy red tail trailing behind her, stepped in front of Moira Lynch.

She had a harmless smile on her face as she suddenly pulled a bouquet of flowers from behind her back.

"I just picked these flowers. I chose every single one myself. They’re for you. I hope they brighten your day."

It was no secret that some of the NPCs in Divine Soul were played by real people.

Unlike NPCs made of data, these "real-person NPCs" had their own thoughts.

There had been cases before where a player earned the favor of a real-person NPC and received a crucial clue to complete a quest from them.

However, finding these real-person NPCs was no easy task.

After that incident, the officials of *Divine Soul* had made changes regarding real-person NPCs, implementing a stricter penalty system.

If they were caught in a similar situation again, they would face severe punishment.

Even so, some players were still determined to find these real-person NPCs and get clues from them.

Moira Lynch accepted the flowers, said a quiet "thank you," and that was it.

Because Moira Lynch simply took the flowers and left, leaving the girl standing there, dumbfounded.

At that moment, the girl had only one thought: ’Are all NPCs this rude nowadays?’

’Whatever, I’ll just go do the quest.’

Over the next while, several more waves of people arrived. After Moira Lynch had given the quest to all of them, she received a notification that the quest was now full.

Anyone who wanted to accept the quest from now on would have to wait for someone else to abandon it first.

Seeing this, Moira Lynch breathed a sigh of relief. These players were so difficult to deal with—clinging to her like leeches, and so thick-skinned too.

Shutting the main door of the village chief’s house, Moira Lynch prepared to play another role.
