Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 350 - 340: Another Use for the Divine Potion
Curious, Moira Lynch clicked on the post. She wanted to see just what it took to awaken a desired Talent.
The post opened with a bold claim: the method had been verified to have a 100% success rate, but it only worked for Elemental Talents.
Having read that, Moira Lynch scrolled down for the rest of the post.
However, after that single sentence, the rest of the post was cut off.
[To continue reading, please pay one silver coin.]
’Well, I’ll be damned. So that was the catch.’
After a moment’s thought, Moira Lynch decided to spend the silver coin.
She clicked "Pay," and the rest of the post’s content was finally unlocked.
Moira Lynch skimmed through the contents and was shocked. She never expected the Divine Potion to have such an effect.
Indeed, the method described in the post was to drink a Divine Potion of a specific Attribute right before awakening.
Doing so guaranteed that the awakened Talent would have the same Attribute as the Divine Potion consumed.
Moira Lynch exited the post and opened the game forums. Sure enough, the price of Divine Potions on the forum was being driven sky-high.
Although the Medicine in her shop restocked daily, Moira Lynch rarely put Divine Potions up for sale. She would only release a few at a time; after all, she understood the principle that scarcity creates value.
Moira Lynch’s standard price for a Divine Potion of any Attribute was one thousand Gold Coins.
But now on the forums, even the cheapest Water Attribute Divine Potion was being sold for ten thousand Gold Coins—a tenfold increase.
Moira Lynch crafted these Divine Potions using crystals she had obtained from Shirley Blackwood. They came in a total of ten Attributes: Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, Ice, Thunder, Light, and Dark.
Currently, the Water Attribute was the cheapest. After all, Water Attribute Talents had little offensive power and weren’t very popular among other Talents. Furthermore, most who awakened it were women.
The most expensive were the Light and Dark Attribute Divine Potions.
The Light Attribute had healing effects, while the Dark Attribute was even more difficult to counter than the Thunder Attribute, which was reputed to be the strongest.
Moira Lynch checked the prices. Potions of these two Attributes had already been driven to astronomical prices, and what’s more, there was a high demand but no supply.
This was because, from the very beginning, Moira Lynch had only ever created potions of these two Attributes once.
Ranked just below the Light and Dark Attributes were the powerful offensive types like Thunder, Fire, and Ice. Their prices were only a notch lower, but they were also in a state of high demand with no supply.
The prices of the remaining Attributes also varied slightly.
By now, many people were leaving messages in Moira Lynch’s shop, begging her to release more Divine Potions.
Most of them were well-known scalpers.
They would buy from Moira Lynch and immediately resell the items for several times the original price.
Moira Lynch had always turned a blind eye to their activities, but the Divine Potions were another matter.
She would sell a potion for one thousand Gold Coins, and they would immediately flip it for ten times that price—at a minimum.
She was afraid the resentment and unfairness of it all would get to her, so she decided to nip the problem in the bud.
Moreover, according to an analysis by Patience, the Divine Potions contained immense energy. If an ordinary person drank one, it would likely be life-threatening.
’No, I have to add a disclaimer.’
That way, if something went wrong, the blame wouldn’t fall on her.
Moira Lynch was already back in her room, quickly editing a disclaimer to upload to her shop page.
The disclaimer explained the dangers of an ordinary person consuming a Divine Potion. It clearly stated that she had now given a warning; if anyone still chose to ignore it, her shop would not be held responsible for the consequences.
Even though it was the middle of the night, many people were following Moira Lynch’s shop. The notice was spotted immediately and the news began to spread.
As the news spread online, it was like a bucket of cold water being dumped on the excited ordinary people.
These people had not yet awakened a Talent, but they were all hoping to. They had learned from the internet that Talents could be good or bad, and they naturally hoped to awaken a good one.
「Meanwhile, back at the base」 Redlight saw the disclaimer and turned to Chase Shepard. "Captain, should I still ask?"
Chase Shepard held a lit cigarette between his fingers.
The Chase Shepard of the past hadn’t been a smoker. But with the arrival of the apocalypse came one disaster after another, on top of having to enter the game every month. His stress was immense, and smoking was a good way to relax.
Besides, the cigarette in his hand was a special type created by a Talent. It had the effect of soothing nerves and relieving stress, with no harm to the body, and it wasn’t even addictive.
In the apocalypse, even cigarettes had become a luxury.
The price of a single cigarette was now comparable to Gold.
"Ask," Chase Shepard said firmly. "By the way, has SoySauceDrunkard replied to you yet?"
Based on SoySauceDrunkard’s usual pattern, there would definitely be new products listed tomorrow morning. Chase Shepard wanted Redlight to sound them out and see if they could secure the items in advance.
Redlight shook his head. "Not yet. They probably haven’t seen my message."
As he spoke, Redlight’s expression was calm, without the slightest hint of annoyance or impatience. He had clearly grown accustomed to it.
After all, he was better off than most; at least SoySauceDrunkard actually responded to him sometimes.
"By the way, Captain, have you found out the identity of the person who made that post?"
Chase Shepard shook his head. "Their IP address is overseas. Even if we found them, we couldn’t arrest them. The hard approach won’t work, so we have to try a soft one. I’ve already arranged for a player to contact them via private message."
Chase Shepard and his team were convinced that the poster hadn’t revealed all the information in the post.
Now, considering SoySauceDrunkard’s new disclaimer, Chase Shepard was certain that the hidden part of the post was the key.
「The next day」 Moira Lynch’s shop opened on time.
The crowd that had been waiting for a long time swarmed in.
Some of them made a beeline for the food, while others immediately started scanning the store’s inventory upon entering.
As regulars, they knew the shop’s layout by heart, so they would be able to spot any new additions at a glance.
They found no new products in the food section, which meant the new items were likely somewhere else.
Not daring to waste a second, they immediately headed for the other sections of the shop.
If they could discover the new item and get the news out even one minute sooner, it would be a major coup.
After checking the food section, Everrise went straight to the weapons section.
Moira’s weapon-making skills had been getting better and better, and she would occasionally stock all sorts of strange but highly effective weapons. As a result, this section was also extremely popular.
