Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 348 - 338: Lottery Draw
[Place an item you deem important, obtained within the game, onto the tray. Only then will the prizes on the wheel be revealed.]
[P.S. The more valuable the item placed, the more valuable the prizes on the wheel will be.]
Moira Lynch read the description and couldn’t help but touch the winged bow on her head.
’Why does this description feel like it’s aimed at me?’
’Hopefully, I’m just overthinking it.’
’However, place an important item on the tray... no, an item *I* deem important.’
Moira Lynch’s eyes darted around. ’There’s a huge loophole to exploit in that sentence.’
’As long as it’s an item *I* think is important, it should work.’
With this in mind, Moira sifted through her space and finally found the most severely damaged Mecha wreckage.
But an entire piece of Mecha wreckage was a bit too large for the tray in front of her.
So, Moira forcibly tore a part off the Mecha wreckage and placed it on the tray.
After sensing the weight, the tray wobbled up and down slightly a couple of times, and the prize wheel began to emit a multicolored light.
About ten seconds later, the Mecha part on the tray suddenly disappeared. Immediately after, the prize wheel, which had been covered in question marks, finally revealed its contents.
However, upon seeing what was on it, Moira Lynch couldn’t help but frown in dissatisfaction.
There were ten options on the wheel, and items like Full Vine, Soldier Food Rattan, Green Leaf Grass, nutrient liquid, Qio Rice, and Water Storage Mushroom took up six of the slots.
Of the remaining four, one was "Thank You for Playing," and another was "Spin Again," leaving only two that were even remotely interesting.
One looked like some kind of whip, and the other was a firecracker.
"These prizes are pretty lame. The System is getting stingier and stingier."
Seeing these items, Moira lost all desire to even spin the wheel.
As if it had heard Moira’s complaint, the System’s voice suddenly rang out within the System Space.
[The rules have been stated clearly. The more valuable the item placed on the tray, the more valuable the prizes on the wheel will be.]
Hearing this, Moira looked indignant. "What’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying the item I put out isn’t valuable enough? This is a part from a Mecha! A Mecha, you understand?"
[After system analysis, this part has been identified as coming from a scrapped Mecha and is classified as trash. You should feel honored to even receive these rewards.]
The implication was ’Don’t push your luck.’
Moira’s expression was still resentful, but she knew the principle of having to bow your head when you’re under someone else’s roof.
She muttered under her breath, "There’s definitely something wrong with this System’s evaluation."
’Even if the part is from a scrapped Mecha, the part itself is intact. How can it be so discriminatory?’
As she spoke, Moira placed her hand on the start button.
Now, she could only pray for her luck to be a little better.
Out of ten options, there was a one-in-five chance of getting something good.
Although she didn’t know what those two items were, they were definitely better than the Full Vine and the others, and certainly better than "Thank You for Playing" or "Spin Again."
As Moira pressed the start button, the wheel began to spin rapidly.
After spinning for several tens of seconds, the wheel’s speed gradually decreased.
Watching the pointer skim past the Full Vine and other options one by one, Moira’s heart pounded with extreme tension.
Just as the pointer passed all the prizes and was about to land on the "Thank You for Playing" space, the wheel suddenly started spinning backward.
In the final second before it stopped, the pointer landed on the item that resembled a firecracker.
"Yes!"
’A luck-boosting blessing really makes a difference,’ Moira thought, thrilled.
’If this weren’t the apocalypse, I’d definitely buy a few lottery tickets when I get back. I’d probably make a fortune, achieve financial freedom, and reach the pinnacle of life in no time.’
The next second, a white light flashed, and Moira felt something appear in her hand.
Before she could get a good look at it, her vision went black. When she opened her eyes again, she was back in her room.
Looking up, she could see the scene outside through the window.
Outside, snow was falling like goose feathers, and it looked to be at least half a meter deep.
Moira watched the snow being blocked by the Elf Tree House’s protective shield and thought, ’Tomorrow is probably going to be another busy day.’
She turned and walked outside. As soon as she stepped out of her room, she saw Hugh Finch coming out of Shane Rhodes’s room.
Upon seeing Moira, Hugh Finch put a finger to his lips in a shushing gesture and whispered, "The Boss and Kai York overexerted their talents too much in the game. Let’s talk downstairs."
Hearing this, Moira nodded.
After the two went down to the first floor, Moira asked curiously, "Didn’t they take a lot of recovery potions with them? How could they still run out?"
Hugh Finch explained, "The game the Boss and Kai York were in required them to use their talents nonstop. The recovery potions they brought weren’t nearly enough."
After listening to Hugh, Moira felt deep sympathy for what Shane Rhodes and Kai York had gone through.
After all, she had experienced the feeling of talent exhaustion more than once. It was not pleasant.
"By the way, where were you?" Hugh Finch asked. "We didn’t see you say anything in the group chat, and you didn’t respond when we looked for you."
"I only opened the group chat once and didn’t check it again after that," Moira explained.
"Were you too busy?" Hugh asked.
Moira nodded. "Yeah, pretty busy. I was teleported to a battlefield to treat the wounded."
Hearing about Moira’s game, Hugh Finch’s eyes widened. He hadn’t expected her to be sent to such a dangerous place.
"Are you okay, then? Were you hurt?"
Moira shook her head again. "I wasn’t hurt. The battle was already over where I went. My mission was to gather and treat the wounded on the battlefield."
As they were talking, Moira noticed a badge on Hugh Finch.
The badge looked very familiar.
A pair of unfurled purple wings, with a chain-sealed Magic Wand in the center.
Noticing Moira’s gaze, Hugh Finch explained, "This is a badge I brought out from the game. It didn’t look like this at first, but as I performed divination for more and more people, its appearance started to change."
Realizing this item was special, Hugh immediately performed a divination for himself. The reading showed that it was an incredibly powerful item.
That’s why he decisively refused when the System said he could end the game by simply handing over the badge.
"I have that badge too."
With that, Moira took the bow off her head.
This time, it didn’t resist, obediently letting Moira handle it.
The moment it was removed, it reverted to its original form.
