Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 281 - 271: Opening the Fifth Floor

Moira Lynch’s eyes lit up. ’Right, I still have Snowy.’

The problem of the Artifice Beast was solved. Moira had been lying on the ground for who knows how long, and though she felt much better, she still didn’t want to get up. She couldn’t even be bothered to open her eyes.

After an indeterminate amount of time, the familiar voice of the system sounded in her ears.

[Time’s up! Congratulations, players, on clearing the game. The system will now increase the number of players, and the game’s difficulty will be upgraded again. Your competition will become even more fierce. We hope you will continue to give it your all.]

[Congratulations, player SoySauceDrunkard, on successfully attracting the attention of The Interstellar Military. For the next game, you will be entering a higher-difficulty dungeon. Please look forward to it.]

Moira Lynch’s eyes snapped open, but before she could react, her vision went black, and the world started to spin.

Moira had been standing when she entered the game, so naturally, she was still standing upon her return.

Her body tipped backward, and she fell onto the soft bed.

The game system’s final words echoed in her mind, leaving her feeling both angry and resigned.

Lying on the bed, she slowly closed her eyes as an overwhelming wave of exhaustion washed over her. ’Forget it,’ she thought, ’I’ll just rest for now.’

Sure enough, the bed was far more comfortable than the cold floor.

She hadn’t been lying down for long before she suddenly sat up, reaching up to touch her head.

Having a head full of gelatin did have its uses. At least it saved her the time she would have spent styling her hair every day. The only problem was that it was a pain to get rid of.

Even though she was exhausted, she insisted on entering her space to wash the gelatin out of her hair.

「An hour later.」

Moira changed into a set of silk pajamas and emerged from her space, feeling completely refreshed.

Before falling asleep, she thought about the game rewards she still hadn’t...

As she was thinking about it, Moira drifted off to sleep.

The shop’s systems had already been programmed, so Moira didn’t need to worry about a thing.

Moira had brought back quite a few goodies from the game this time, though most of it was just candy.

But in times like these, forget eating candy; just getting enough to eat was a luxury.

At six in the morning, Moira was still fast asleep, showing no signs of waking.

Meanwhile, in the "Don’t Miss It" shop, Patience had already listed the latest items for sale.

As the doors opened, people from all over the world flooded in, scrambling to buy food from the food section.

Soon, people noticed something different. When had an extra stall been added to the food section?

A closer look revealed it was piled high with all sorts of candy.

"Oh my God, a single piece of this candy can sustain you for a whole day? What kind of magical candy is this?"

"Candy that lasts a whole day? For real? I don’t believe it, unless they let me try one for free."

"Hey, you! Keep dreaming!"

"Why is there a purchase limit on the candy? Each person can only buy three pieces. What good is that?"

Besides the food area, some people went to check out the other sections and quickly discovered more new things.

The Elf Magic Wand, the Elf Bow and Arrow, the Elf Cloak, the Elf Wings.

Although these items were all used, their effects were in no way inferior to those of a high-grade item.

Beyond these items, among the various machines obtained from the game, Patience had even outrageously listed one Combat Mecha and one Combat Spaceship.

"Holy hell, what am I seeing? A Combat Mecha? A Combat Spaceship? Can someone please tell me how in the world SoySauceDrunkard managed this?"

"There’s even an Intelligent Brain? All those years of single-life training my reaction speed and... Damn it! Who snatched the Intelligent Brain from me?!"

The previous Elf Four-piece Set was somewhat understandable. After all, SoySauceDrunkard had already been selling items on a massive scale before.

Some people even speculated that SoySauceDrunkard possessed the ability to mass-produce items.

And this speculation was quickly confirmed.

It wasn’t much of a secret, as anyone could find out with a quick search on a Learning Machine.

Therefore, they deduced that SoySauceDrunkard must have awakened a Spiritual System talent, and a very powerful one at that.

SoySauceDrunkard’s little shop, "Don’t Miss It," opened its doors at six o’clock every morning, right on the dot.

Many people staked out the shop every day, especially representatives from various nations.

Their targets weren’t the food, but rather the Medicine that restocked daily in the medical area, the weapons in the armory section, and so on.

At this moment, all the world’s nations, including Cathaya, went into a frenzy.

They were frantically making calls, demanding that resources be sent over immediately.

The person on the other end of the line must have said something, because the staff member started yelling.

"What do you mean ’wait a little longer’? Don’t you know how many people have their eyes on those two items? If we wait any longer, they’ll be gone!"

Redlight, who was sitting nearby, watched this scene unfold without intervening. He was busy, constantly sending messages to SoySauceDrunkard, but hadn’t received a single reply.

Redlight wasn’t worried, though. After dealing with her for so long, he knew SoySauceDrunkard wasn’t one to check her messages often, but he also knew that once she saw them, she would definitely reply.

The higher-ups, however, were getting impatient this time.

He figured the entire world probably had its eyes on the Combat Mecha and the Combat Spaceship right now.

Redlight actually felt a little resentful. ’Wouldn’t a private deal have been better for something so important?’ he thought. ’How could she just put them out for public sale?’

However, as soon as the thought emerged, Redlight immediately shook his head, casting the dangerous idea aside.

’How could I think like that? The items are hers; she can do whatever she wants with them.’

’After all, SoySauceDrunkard has already helped us so much. If I were to question her about this, I’d be nothing but an ungrateful jerk.’

Realizing his attitude was out of line, Redlight immediately corrected his thinking.

Inside the shop, a few people soon noticed another anomaly.

Normally, the fifth floor of the "Don’t Miss It" shop was closed to the public. Only invited guests could enter, like for the previous auction.

But this time, the fifth floor was open, revealing a brand-new section.

Moira hadn’t reverted the fifth floor to its original state after renovating it for the auction; after all, she had paid good money for the changes.

The fifth floor was now divided into two distinct areas, each filled with rows of silver pods: the Hibernation Pod area and the Healing Pod area.

The first person to arrive on the floor stared at the scene in shock.

After quickly reading through the description, he walked up to one of the Hibernation Pods.

He was a player whose talent was muscle enhancement. He had overused his talent during the last game, and now his entire body ached with the slightest movement.

After seeing the description for the Hibernation Pod, he decided to give it a try.

The Hibernation Pod had two modes: one with Medicine and one without.

The former was more expensive than the latter because the user had to cover the cost of the Medicine, but its effects were also better.
