Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 280 - 270: Elf and Sugar 21 (End)
"These are all ancient. I can’t believe they’re still here..."
Eleanor Vaughn chattered on, telling stories she’d heard since she was a child, but Moira Lynch didn’t hear a word she said.
The only thing in her eyes were the rows of Mechas.
In Moira Lynch’s opinion, all the things she’d collected before, combined, were not as important as the Mechas in front of her.
Without a second’s delay, Moira Lynch immediately got to work.
Because the Mechas and Combat Spaceships were so large, Moira Lynch could only transfer them into her storage space one by one, which greatly reduced her efficiency.
But Moira Lynch didn’t care about that.
She continued to store them in her space, one by one.
To avoid any unnecessary damage from the Mechas knocking against each other, Moira Lynch was extremely careful with every move.
Seeing how careful she was, Eleanor Vaughn said, "You don’t have to be so meticulous. These Mechas have been sitting here for years, anyway. Many of their parts have probably degraded by now."
Moira Lynch seized the opportunity to ask, "So, are these Mechas still functional?"
"They’re usable, yes," Eleanor Vaughn said after a moment of thought.
"Although these are all obsolete models, the fighting back then was incredibly fierce. Wars were breaking out all over the galaxy, so the requirements for Mechas at the time boiled down to two words: durable and sturdy. Everything else was secondary."
By contrast, modern Mechas might be more advanced, better-looking, and have more features, but they’re also far more delicate.
Moira Lynch nodded, satisfied. ’As long as they work, that’s what matters.’
’And those two words, "durable" and "sturdy"... isn’t that just another way of saying "great value"?’
If Moira Lynch brought these Mechas back, they would serve as templates. With these templates, Cathaya’s scientists would definitely be able to develop even better ones.
’After all, I only brought back some broken farm equipment before, and after some research and modification, my people turned trash into treasure.’
It almost made Moira Lynch regret selling them so cheaply.
With that thought, Moira Lynch picked up her pace again.
Whenever she felt her spiritual power about to run out, she would drink a vial of Medicine to restore it.
Luckily, the Pharmacy Box in the game still refreshed, and she had managed to save up quite a few over the past few days. It should be enough to last her.
As the seconds ticked by, Moira Lynch refused to rest for even a moment, afraid she wouldn’t be able to collect everything in time.
After all, this was already the third day. Who knew when the game would end.
Clearly, she couldn’t rely on her past experiences to judge this game.
"By the way, do you know when we can leave?" Moira Lynch suddenly asked.
"Why? Are you in a hurry?" Eleanor Vaughn asked.
Moira Lynch shook her head. "Not really. It’s just that we were only hired for three days, and today is already the third."
"You can leave after we get off at eight. But if you wanted to stay, you could... On second thought, better not. If my father saw you, you probably wouldn’t be able to leave at all."
Eleanor Vaughn shook her head again and again at the thought of her father.
The military would never let a Recycler this powerful get away.
Moira Lynch understood Eleanor Vaughn’s implication. Any thought of staying longer was instantly dismissed. ’I’d better speed things up.’
’Get off at eight, huh.’
She glanced at the time. Four hours left. That should be enough.
Moira Lynch went into overdrive, relentlessly loading the Mechas and Combat Spaceships into her storage space.
Unfortunately, while the Mechas and Combat Spaceships were in good condition, they weren’t loaded with any weapons or ammunition.
’Oh well. I’ll let someone else worry about that. My job is just to bring them back; the rest isn’t my problem.’
The next few warehouses were also filled with Mechas and combat craft, and Moira Lynch couldn’t keep the smile off her face.
She was in the middle of storing another one when, at some point, her vision suddenly went black. The world started to spin, and a second later, a searing pain struck her.
It felt like her head was about to split open.
It was as if someone were taking a hammer to her head, beating it like a drum.
The pain forced Moira Lynch to double over as cold sweat instantly beaded on her skin.
"Calming Bell!"
Moira Lynch clutched her head, using her Healing Flame on herself while simultaneously summoning the Calming Bell.
As the white flame manifested, the pleasant chime of a bell echoed through the warehouse.
Moira Lynch felt better almost instantly as the pain began to fade.
What had just happened was the result of overusing her spiritual power. It had become chaotic and turned on her.
It was a symptom of overdrawing her spiritual power.
Thankfully, this was the last warehouse, and there wasn’t much left to do.
She checked the time. Half an hour left. Plenty of time.
After resting for a few more minutes, Moira Lynch started loading items into her storage space again.
She knew that if she missed even one of these many Mechas and Combat Spaceships, the regret would keep her up at night.
As for overdrawing her spiritual power?
’I’ll just have to consider it a challenge to my limits.’
’Besides, I have the Healing Device to help me recover my spiritual power. And if worst comes to worst, I can just sleep for a few days after I get back to recover...’
An unknown amount of time passed. Finally, fighting through the discomfort, Moira Lynch managed to store the last Combat Spaceship.
Gazing at the now-empty warehouse, Moira Lynch felt a sense of utter completion.
Her body gave out, and she collapsed to the ground.
Fortunately, Eleanor Vaughn was no longer with her. If she had seen this, she would have been scared to death.
Moira Lynch lay motionless on the ground with her eyes closed. She looked like she had passed out, but she was actually wide awake—she just didn’t want to get up.
Her spiritual power was incredibly active now. She could feel that it had improved once again.
It was like a spring: the more it was compressed, the higher it rebounded.
But this method was also extremely dangerous.
Moira Lynch checked the physical analysis from her Healing Device. The entry for her spiritual power was bolded and highlighted in red.
[FOR SPIRITUAL POWER RECOVERY, IT IS RECOMMENDED TO REFRAIN FROM USING SPIRITUAL POWER FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS!!!!!!]
As if afraid Moira Lynch wouldn’t take it seriously, the Healing Device had added a long string of exclamation points to the end of its recommendation.
’Seriously, do I look like someone who doesn’t know her own limits?’
’This was just a one-time thing. After all, who could stay calm when faced with so many Mechas and Combat Spaceships?’
"Wait, will Moon Wheel and the Calming Bell have their food supply cut off?" Moira Lynch asked.
Those two fed on her spiritual power.
[THE NEXT TWO WEEKS ARE THE MASTER’S SPIRITUAL POWER RECOVERY PERIOD.]
’So I can’t feed Moon Wheel and the Calming Bell during my recovery period.’
’But these two Artifice Beasts were just born. Will they really be okay if they starve for two weeks?’
’Besides, I remember Artifice Beasts aren’t supposed to go hungry, are they?’
[ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION AVAILABLE: THE MASTER’S SPIRITUAL BODY CAN PROVIDE TEMPORARY NOURISHMENT.]
