Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 273 - 263: Elf and Sugar 14
Still, adding chili powder to cake... Moira had to admit, the elves were creative.
Eleanor Vaughn saw her expression and came forward. "This sparkly, spicy chili powder is my second favorite. You dip cake in it—it’s sweet, spicy, and delicious. You should try it sometime."
"You just can’t eat too much of it, though. It’s easy to upset your stomach if you overdo it. Such a shame."
Moira forced a laugh. ’No, it’s not a shame at all,’ she thought.
She spent a few minutes collecting the hundreds of bags of sparkly, spicy chili powder into her storage space.
Next up was the second type of seasoning.
[Sour Ginger: A sour and spicy type of ginger, related to White Ginger, but with more potent medicinal effects.]
...
Over the next while, Moira encountered all sorts of seasonings.
According to Eleanor Vaughn herself, in their quest to find the best seasonings to pair with cake, they had collected nearly every strange and exotic condiment in the galaxy.
"So what was the final verdict?" Moira asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Salt and sugar were the best. They were favorites among the vast majority of elves. There’s also Fruit Fruit Jam. Pairing dessert with Fruit Fruit Jam is my absolute favorite."
Following Eleanor Vaughn’s introduction, Moira finally saw the Fruit Fruit Jam.
Inside transparent bottles was a translucent, green jam.
The jam was completely smooth, with no pulp at all. From a distance, you might mistake it for a bottle of green juice.
[Fruit Fruit Jam: Produced from a tree called the "Guoguo" tree. Its fruit is green, translucent, and jelly-like. When ripe, a gentle squeeze is all it takes for the jam inside to burst out, making it extremely convenient.]
After she had collected all the Fruit Fruit Jam into her storage space, they were finally nearing the end of this warehouse.
Only one last type of item remained.
Moira looked at the rectangular objects before her, which were wrapped in paper and stacked against the wall.
If she sniffed carefully, she could detect a faint aroma of tea mixed with the scents of flowers, fruits, and vegetables.
It was a complex aroma, but not an unpleasant one.
"These are some drinks we made ourselves. We couldn’t finish them all, so we just stored them here. I had no idea we’d accumulated so many."
By the time she had collected all of them, another hour had passed without her noticing.
When they stepped out of the warehouse again, the sky outside had grown completely dark.
"Come on, I’ll take you to the last warehouse. You’ve had a long day. We can deal with the rest tomorrow."
Hearing Eleanor’s words, Moira was about to say she wasn’t tired and could easily pull an all-nighter, but just then, her Healing Device suddenly issued a warning.
She had overdrawn her spiritual power too many times today. If she didn’t rest, she wouldn’t be able to supply spiritual power to the Moon Wheel and the Calming Bell tomorrow.
At this, Moira paused. ’I’d almost forgotten about those two.’
They arrived at the final warehouse.
Looking at the obviously aged Elf Tree House that served as the warehouse, Moira couldn’t help but pray. ’Please let there be something good this time.’
’I have more than enough food. I hope it’s something different.’
The heavens heard her call and granted her wish.
Pushing open the warehouse door, she saw that there was indeed no food or sugar inside.
Inside the warehouse were neat racks of bows and arrows, as well as an assortment of different magic wands.
[Elf Bow and Arrow: A bow and arrow crafted from an Elf Tree. Can produce different effects depending on the user.
PS: Partially worn; attack power is reduced.]
[Elf Cloak: Dyed with Elf Tree sap. When worn, it grants invisibility in jungle environments and reduces the wearer’s weight, making them as light as a swallow.
PS: Partially worn; use is not as fluid as a new one.]
[Elf Magic Wand: Crafted from the core of an Elf Tree. Different colored wands represent different elements and can enhance combat power.
PS: Partially worn; effect is reduced.]
Seeing all this, Moira was so excited she was nearly speechless.
These must be the weapons the elves used in their daily lives, which had since been retired.
They weren’t firearms, but if she brought them back to Caelus, they would surely raise the players’ combat effectiveness by several orders of magnitude.
It also went to show just how important the Elf Tree was to the elves.
After calming her excitement, she stepped into the warehouse. It took her a considerable amount of time to clear out everything inside.
By the time she had collected it all, her spiritual power was on the brink of overdraft, but Moira was still incredibly excited.
"You are absolutely amazing."
The moment Moira stepped out, Eleanor Vaughn pulled her into a hug.
She was now incredibly thankful that she had sent Moira that request for help.
’No,’ she corrected herself, ’I should be thankful we exchanged contact information when we met on the Isle Turtle.’
"Oh, by the way, the reward I requested for you has been approved. Do you want to know what it is?" Eleanor Vaughn asked mysteriously.
Seeing her expression, Moira played along and nodded. "What is the reward?"
"In addition to the Elf Tree Leaves I promised you at the beginning, I also managed to get you a hundred Elf Tree House seeds."
As expected, Moira’s eyes lit up when she heard this. "I love this reward. Thank you."
"Right? I knew you’d like it."
Looking at Eleanor’s beaming smile, Moira suddenly said, "Um, could you do me a favor?"
"What is it? If it’s something I can help with, I absolutely will," Eleanor said, puffing out her chest in a gesture of promise.
Hearing this, Moira didn’t hesitate and said directly, "Well, I was hoping to purchase a batch of decommissioned Intelligent Brains."
Intelligent Brains were a type of technology that was very strictly controlled throughout the galaxy. Each person could only apply for one using their identification.
If one broke or you wanted to upgrade to the latest model, you had to go to a designated location with your ID to register the change.
However, for decommissioned Intelligent Brains, the rules weren’t nearly as strict.
Most of the functions on these Intelligent Brains had been uninstalled, leaving only the most basic features like calling, messaging, and searching.
Even so, not just anyone could purchase them in large quantities. But then again, Moira was a Recycler.
She was qualified to do so.
Sure enough, Eleanor Vaughn agreed readily to Moira’s request.
"How many do you want?" Eleanor asked.
Moira thought for a moment. ’Intelligent Brains are like cell phones; demand always outstrips supply.’ "The more, the better."
Eleanor said, "We have a few tens of thousands of units that were just recently decommissioned. If you want more, you’ll have to wait a bit. I’ll need to requisition them from other locations. They can probably arrive by noon tomorrow."
"Great, it’s a deal then. As for the price, I’ll pay the standard market rate," Moira said.
Eleanor waved her hand dismissively. "What money? These things are useless to us. Even if you hadn’t come, they would’ve just been given to someone else. And that’s not even mentioning the huge favor you’ve done for us."
"If you really feel bad about it, then you can just help me clear out the last few warehouses tomorrow."
"Deal!"
