Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 272 - 262: Elf and Sugar 13
"But you just traded with that other person," the man said, not giving up.
"We had a prior arrangement," Moira Lynch said.
The implication was that he was just a step too late.
Moreover, with a reminder from Patience, Moira Lynch now knew why the man had looked so familiar.
The man strongly resembled Kai York; even some of his minor habits were the same.
According to Patience’s analysis, the two were likely brothers.
Previously, because of the Soul Resurrection Grass incident, Shane Rhodes, Kai York, and Hugh Finch had each told her about their family situations.
Kai York was the youngest child in his family, with two older brothers and two older sisters. Among them, one brother, Caden York, and one sister, Summer Yardley, were players.
’If I’m not mistaken, this must be Caden York.’
"But..."
The man wanted to say more, but he didn’t know what to say.
After all, the items belonged to her, and the decision to trade was hers alone to make.
Moira Lynch didn’t give the man another chance to speak. She quickly finished her dinner and left the cafeteria.
However, she didn’t go back to her quarters to rest.
’Nighttime is the perfect time to get some work done.’
She sent a message to Eleanor Vaughn.
A short while later, Eleanor Vaughn found Moira Lynch.
As soon as they met, Eleanor Vaughn was incredibly enthusiastic.
"I heard all about what happened today. I had no idea you were so amazing!"
Moira Lynch gave a reserved smile and said, "I just did what I could. It’s my honor to be able to help you all."
"What you did was more than just helping; it was a huge help! The elders asked me to thank you properly."
Thinking about how she was leaving tomorrow and that time was short, Moira Lynch said, "If you really want to thank me, then please give me more work."
Eleanor Vaughn hadn’t expected Moira Lynch to reply like that.
She was used to hearing people ask for more pay; this was the first time she’d ever heard someone ask for a heavier workload.
"That’s no problem, of course, but we can’t count that as a thank-you gift. Oh, right, my father holds a position in the military. If you’re willing, I can have him write you a letter of introduction."
"With such a powerful ability, staying here is a terrible waste. You should be putting it to good use in the military."
Hearing this, Moira Lynch thought, ’The military probably has all sorts of weapons. This seems like a good offer.’
’But if I really catch the military’s attention, will I still be able to return to Caelus?’
’And what if the location of Caelus is exposed?’
’After all, the gap between the people on Caelus and the rest of the interstellar community is immense.’
Moira Lynch gently declined, "Thank you, but no. I don’t have any plans like that at the moment."
Eleanor Vaughn looked Moira Lynch up and down, then mused aloud, "You look so young; it makes sense that you’d refuse. I’ve heard the discipline in the army is incredibly strict. They work women like men and men like animals. A newcomer might even get bullied."
"Forget it. I’ll just help you exchange your reward for something else. For now, I’ll take you to the warehouse."
After walking for about half an hour, the two finally reached their destination.
Just as they arrived, they saw two Sea Sprites, each driving an enormous vehicle, slowly exiting the warehouse.
It seemed they had just delivered something inside.
"What’s in there?" Moira Lynch asked curiously.
"You’ll know once you go inside."
Upon entering the warehouse, they were hit by the rich aroma of chocolate.
What greeted their eyes were blocks of chocolate that looked like walls.
[Roroco: A type of candy made from the resin of the Roroco Tree. Its flavor is bittersweet, and it contains a large amount of energy. Just a small bite can provide a full day’s energy and keep the body from feeling cold.
PS: Adding it to nutrient liquid might have an unexpected effect.]
"You’re getting rid of all of this?" Moira Lynch asked.
Eleanor Vaughn nodded. "This is all leftover from overproduction. It’s just sitting here anyway, so you might as well take it all."
"Alright."
Moira Lynch extended her spiritual power and pulled all the wall-like blocks of Roroco into her space.
This was the first time Eleanor Vaughn had seen Moira Lynch store items.
Although she had heard about it from the other Sea Sprites, seeing it with her own eyes was still incredibly shocking.
’If her father saw this, he’d probably drag this person back to the base, even if he had to kidnap her.’
"Is this entire warehouse filled with just this Roroco?" Moira Lynch asked after continuously storing more than ten blocks of Roroco.
Eleanor Vaughn nodded. "Yes, but these are just the raw materials. There are some finished products further back."
Hearing this, Moira Lynch began to calculate her spiritual power. ’I can’t use it all up at once; this warehouse is huge.’
So, to conserve her spiritual power, Moira Lynch walked deeper into the warehouse, collecting all the Roroco on both sides into her space as she went.
The warehouse was enormous. Besides the initial wall-like blocks of Roroco, the finished products further in were countless.
By the time Moira Lynch had collected the entire warehouse’s worth of Roroco into her space, an hour had passed.
After leaving that warehouse, Eleanor Vaughn immediately led her to another one.
Before they even went inside, Eleanor Vaughn began her introduction.
"This warehouse stores all kinds of seasonings."
"Seasonings? I thought you all liked sweet food. Why would you have seasonings?" Moira Lynch asked curiously.
Based on the last few days—breakfast, lunch, and dinner consisting of either cake or candy—it was clear just how deep the Sprites’ love for sweets ran.
"It’s hard to please everyone. Not all Sprites like sweets, though they’re a small minority. Besides, after eating sweets for so long, you occasionally want a change of pace," Eleanor Vaughn said frankly.
"Then why are you getting rid of these seasonings?"
"Because we consume so little of them, naturally. And we buy a lot of fresh ones every year, so they just keep piling up."
"I see."
Moira Lynch walked into the warehouse, originally intending to just store everything in her space directly.
But, driven by curiosity, she walked over to the nearest sack and opened it. Inside was a glowing red powder.
The moment she opened it, a pungent and spicy aroma assailed her nostrils.
[Bling-Bling Spicy Chili Powder: Made from sun-dried and ground mature Bling-Bling Spicy Chilies. The flavor is spicy. When sprinkled on food, it creates a "bling-bling" effect, making it an excellent garnish.
PS: If you can’t handle spicy food, please do not try Bling-Bling Spicy Chili Powder.]
Tying the sack shut again, Moira Lynch let out a series of sneezes before she finally felt better.
