For the next few days, aside from training, Moira Lynch dedicated all of her energy to weapon research and development.

And she had something to celebrate: in addition to melee weapons, she had created her first infinite-energy pistol.

At Moira Lynch’s current level, creating firearms was extremely difficult. So, she took a different approach. If she couldn’t forge it in one piece, she would simply make it part by part.

While a weapon made this way wasn’t nearly as sturdy as one forged in a single piece, this one had infinite energy.

In the time it would take to reload a normal gun, she could fire off an untold number of shots.

Moreover, her pistol’s shots came with a variety of different effects.

The only downside was the low production efficiency; it had taken her five or six straight days to make just this one pistol.

After a few days, someone finally discovered these two fine items, and they immediately caused a massive uproar among the player base.

[Chopin’s Piano: Bros, I tested it for you all. It’s confirmed—infinite energy.]

[Loves Tremella: Aaaah! So you’re the one who was quick enough to grab it! Say no more. Let’s duel.]

[ItsYeye: To the user above, don’t get so worked up. The daggers are great too! Each one has a different effect, and they can even be repaired if damaged. They’re better than your average intermediate-grade item.]

[Loves Tremella: I didn’t manage to grab a dagger either.]

[ItsYeye: What a sad story. Luckily, I managed to get one. In fact, I got two.]

For a time, the game forums were thrown into chaos once again, all because of Moira Lynch’s daggers.

Just then, a text message suddenly appeared on Moira Lynch’s phone. The base was urgently summoning everyone with an awakened talent. Attendance was mandatory.

Upon seeing the message, Moira Lynch changed her clothes and headed downstairs.

On the first floor, Shane Rhodes and the others had clearly received the message as well.

"No need to rush. We still have some time, so let’s eat first," Shane Rhodes said, bringing out the breakfast he had just prepared: soy milk and fried dough sticks.

Moira Lynch didn’t like the taste of soy milk, so her portion had been swapped out for regular milk.

"I wonder why the base suddenly called us all in," Kai York said between bites.

"We’ll find out when we get there."

Moira Lynch, however, already had a faint suspicion.

Her spiritual power could now cover the entire base, so she quickly discovered the large crowd of people gathered outside.

By the time Moira Lynch and her friends arrived at the assembly point, a huge crowd had already gathered. It was a noisy, dense mass of people, like a marketplace, with everyone talking at once.

On the stage, Redlight was shouting into a loudspeaker, trying to get everyone to be quiet, but his efforts only ever worked for a few seconds at a time.

Watching Redlight shout himself hoarse, Moira Lynch decided to help him out. It was also the perfect opportunity to publicly reveal the Black Wolf.

Just then, Redlight spotted Moira Lynch and her friends in the crowd and gave them a nod.

Moira waved back and even gave Redlight a small smile.

This left Redlight feeling incredibly flattered, almost stunned.

’He had to understand, this young lady had never even bothered to spare him a glance before. What was going on today? Had the sun risen in the west?’

The next second, he found out exactly what was going on.

A black shadow suddenly descended from the sky. A black wolf the size of a truck appeared out of nowhere, its eyes glaring menacingly at the crowd.

"Quiet!"

Redlight’s shouting had been useless, but now, with just a single word from the Black Wolf, everyone present fell deathly silent—including Redlight himself.

Just then, Everrise poked Redlight. "Captain, that’s the black wolf I saw with Moira Lynch before."

’I can’t believe she actually brought it out of the game.’

After thoroughly intimidating the crowd, the Black Wolf padded elegantly over to Moira Lynch’s side.

Moira Lynch smiled and stroked its fur. "Well done. I didn’t realize you could talk, though."

AWOO.

’Just a little. I learned from you.’

Seeing that the crowd had finally fallen silent, Redlight could at last speak properly.

"Listen up, everyone! There’s only one reason we’ve gathered you all here today. A large group of refugees has arrived outside the base. We’re short on personnel, so we need your help to maintain order. Of course, you won’t be doing this for free. Everyone who helps will receive two Soldier Food Vines."

The moment he said this, many people were already tempted.

After all, those who only had to feed themselves were in the minority; most people had families to support.

Some were even worse off, with three generations of a single family crammed into a small room of less than ten square meters.

For them, those two Soldier Food Vines represented several days’ worth of rations.

Meanwhile, Kai York was clearly far more interested in the Black Wolf than the Soldier Food Rattan.

"Moira, don’t tell me you brought this wolf out of the game, too? It’s so cool! I want one, but I don’t have your talent, unfortunately."

Kai York’s voice was filled with envy.

Previously, some people had thought Moira Lynch’s talent was useless—she could only communicate with animals, not command them to do her bidding.

This was a resounding slap in the face to all of them.

"You can sign a contract with an animal from the game regardless of whether you have my talent," Moira Lynch explained. "The only condition is that both parties must be willing."

At her words, her companions’ eyes lit up instantly. "Really?"

Moira Lynch nodded again. After all, there was no reason to hide something like this.

"But, as I said, both parties must be willing."

’That was the hardest part. After all, they couldn’t communicate with animals.’

Tempted by the reward of Soldier Food Rattan, the crowd began heading toward the base entrance.

Moira Lynch and her friends went as well.

After being cooped up in the house for so many days, it was a good chance to get some fresh air.

The Black Wolf remained outside; Moira Lynch hadn’t recalled it.

Everyone on the street who saw the massive wolf instinctively kept a wide berth, their gazes a mixture of awe and envy.

’They could barely afford to eat, yet someone could afford to keep such a huge wolf.’

When they reached the base entrance, they saw a crowd of at least ten thousand people gathered there.

Their faces were sallow and their clothes were filthy. They were disheveled and grimy, caked with the corpses and fluids of insects. Their faces and hands were covered in bite marks.

The insect plague was growing more severe by the day. Things were only slightly better inside the base because fighter jets sprayed insecticide water daily.

"We struggled so hard to get here! Why won’t you let us in?"

"Yeah! Why can’t we come in? We demand to be let in!"

"You can’t just abandon us!"

"Everyone, please calm down! We have no intention of abandoning you. It’s just that the housing in the base is limited, and we need more time."
