Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 223: Crafting Weapons
Seeing this, Kai York pouted. He sullenly picked up the bread, tore open its packaging, and began to eat.
After wolfing down the loaf of bread, he said, "Not enough. Another one."
This time, Shane Rhodes tossed him a Soldier Food Vine.
"I’m not eating this!"
Kai York protested.
"Then you can just starve."
Shane Rhodes didn’t indulge him.
Thanks to the Healing Device, Moira Lynch recovered the fastest of the group.
However, while her physical exhaustion had vanished, the mental fatigue remained.
Seeing that Kai York was about to throw a fit, Moira Lynch suddenly remembered that she had collected a lot of leftovers from Snowfox Village.
Well, they weren’t exactly leftovers, since none of the dishes had been touched. They just hadn’t met the required standard and weren’t allowed to be served.
Because they couldn’t bring any food into the previous game round, all of it was still sitting untouched in her space.
Pulling the dining table out again, Moira Lynch began to take dishes from her space, one by one.
Kai York’s nose twitched. He opened his eyes, and upon seeing the table full of delicious food, he immediately lunged for it like a starving tiger.
He ate while nodding in praise. "This stuff is delicious, Moira! Did you make all of this ahead of time?"
"I can’t claim that kind of skill," Moira Lynch said. "During the game round before last, I went to a restaurant for a mission. The apprentices’ cooking wasn’t up to par, so it was all being thrown away. I thought it was a shame, so I took all of it."
Hearing this, Kai York gave Moira Lynch a thumbs-up while he continued to eat. "Leave it to you."
After eating and drinking their fill, the four of them sprawled on the sofa, rubbing their stomachs and letting their food settle.
Suddenly, Shane Rhodes yelled, "Holy crap!"
"What is it?"
"Quick, check the news! A little while ago, SoySauceDrunkard released all the data on the planets going up for auction next month."
The moment he said that, Kai York and Hugh Finch’s interest was piqued.
Moira Lynch took out her phone as well. The moment she turned it on, she saw that it was, indeed, flooded with news about the planets.
"Three planets, split into so many parcels... This looks like it’s going to be a hassle."
"They probably figure no single country has the means or the ability to mine an entire planet, so they’re breaking them up to sell," Hugh Finch reasoned.
"I’m still curious how in the world SoySauceDrunkard managed to get these planets. He’s an inspiration to us all."
"Good luck," Moira Lynch said.
"True. If their luck wasn’t good, there’s no way they could’ve obtained a resource like a planet, let alone three of them."
Listening to Kai York, Moira Lynch silently corrected him in her head. ’Actually, there were five.’
Meanwhile, at the base, even though Moira Lynch had already granted Cathaya the development rights to one planet—and even permitted Cathayans to immigrate there in the future—they had no intention of backing out of the auctions for the other planets.
While there were several hundred countries on Caelus, only a handful possessed the capability to mine ore on other worlds.
Moira Lynch wasn’t interested in their plans. Right now, she was noticing that while her shop was always packed with people, her selection of weapons was far too limited.
The number of items sold was very low. Moreover, everyone was there for the Exoskeleton Mecha and items in the Flight Zone, with the Anti-gravity Shoes and the Flying Cloak as secondary interests.
’This won’t do,’ she thought. ’I have to increase my weapon inventory.’
Those who had awakened a Spiritual Talent could use their spiritual power and various ores to craft weapons once their ability reached level three.
This was why Moira Lynch had been collecting all kinds of rare metals, jade, and other gemstones from the very beginning.
’I’ll start with something simple.’
Moira Lynch looked through her space, originally intending to practice with some gold.
But then she remembered that gold was an extremely rare resource among the stars, so she dismissed the idea and opted for silver instead.
Soon, a silver bar, about two fingers thick, appeared in Moira Lynch’s hand.
’It’s my first time, so I’ll just make something simple.’
With that in mind, Moira Lynch used the shape of the Tetanus Blade as a reference and began to infuse her spiritual power into the silver bar.
As she infused it with her spiritual power, the bar’s internal structure started to shift, and its external shape began to change along with it.
Ten minutes later, the rough shape of a dagger had formed in Moira Lynch’s hand.
’That wasn’t too difficult,’ she mused.
Moira Lynch sat on her bed, admiring her creation in the moonlight streaming through the window.
Although it was only a rough blank, Moira Lynch was confident she could turn it into a true weapon.
Creating the blank took less than half an hour, but the refining process that followed kept Moira Lynch busy until morning.
Just like that, an exquisitely crafted dagger was complete. You might think the process was over, but it wasn’t. For now, it was still just an ordinary dagger.
Weapons created via a Spiritual Talent were precious not only because they were difficult to make, but also because they could automatically repair themselves when damaged and could be imbued with different Attributes.
The auto-repair required Moira Lynch to infuse it with spiritual power. As for the Attributes...
Spatial, Healing, and Destruction were the three Attributes she had currently mastered.
However, Moira Lynch chose none of these three Attributes.
Her medicine box had just refreshed for the day. Moira Lynch took out a bottle of Thunder God Potion and poured it over the newly finished dagger.
Like a sponge, the silver dagger completely absorbed the purple Thunder God Potion.
Soon, purple patterns appeared on the silver dagger, and it became wreathed in arcs of purple lightning.
Moira Lynch examined her handiwork, then tested it on a nearby table. With a single strike, she sheared off a corner of the table—made of some unknown material—and left it crackling with a paralyzing electrical effect.
’With an effect like this, it should at least count as an intermediate-grade item.’
’I’ll put it in the shop for now and see what the market thinks.’
It was a pity that the internal mechanisms of firearms were too complex for her to replicate accurately just yet.
Moira Lynch estimated that she’d probably be able to do it once her ability reached level four.
On this unremarkable morning, as soon as people opened their eyes, they followed the old adage that the morning sets the tone for the day. The very first thing they did was visit SoySauceDrunkard’s shop, "Don’t Miss It."
Among them were resellers hoping to stock up on goods to sell to ordinary people for a profit, customers who came specifically for the Medicine, and others who were simply browsing the general goods section, just like people used to do before the apocalypse.
Of course, the most popular section of all was the food area.
Just then, a seemingly unremarkable dagger appeared in the weapons section, though at first, it didn’t draw much attention.
Moira Lynch monitored the shop for a while. Seeing that no one had bought the dagger, she couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.
But she didn’t delist the dagger. After all, gold will always shine. She believed someone with a discerning eye would eventually discover it.
