Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 204: Deserted Island Survival 28

Moira Lynch looked at the RV’s water tank, which was already half-empty, and decided to go on a water run.

This time, she took out every container she could find.

She found a stalk of bamboo, broke through all the internal partitions, and fashioned it into a massive water vessel.

The bamboo here was as thick as Moira Lynch’s thigh, so a single vessel like this could hold a lot of water.

Besides the large one, Moira Lynch also made a few smaller ones to carry with her.

Once she was ready, Moira Lynch set out with Black Wolf in tow, a grand procession of two.

Along the way, Moira Lynch encountered a few other players who were heading to fetch water or were already on their way back.

When these people saw Moira Lynch was alone, their eyes seemed to light up. But when they saw the Black Wolf trailing behind her, they quickly lowered their heads and scurried away as if nothing had happened.

Of course, some didn’t leave.

A blond-haired, blue-eyed foreigner’s eyes lit up the moment he saw Black Wolf. He quickly walked up to Moira Lynch and asked in halting Cathayan, "Your wolf is beautiful. Can you sell it to me? I’m willing to offer two intermediate-grade items."

As he spoke, the blond, blue-eyed foreigner actually produced two items: a dagger and a wallet.

The dagger was an item with an enhanced slashing effect. As for the wallet...

[All-Purpose Wallet: Money isn’t everything, but you can’t do anything without it. The All-Purpose Wallet can produce the currency of any race.]

Moira Lynch shook her head. "Sorry, Black Wolf is an important partner to me. I won’t sell him."

"Oh, I see. That’s a real shame."

A flicker of disappointment crossed the foreigner’s eyes, making him look like a big dog that had just lost its favorite bone.

But despite his disappointment, he didn’t press the issue.

After the man left, Black Wolf let out a whine. "Awoo."

’The way those people looked at me was so annoying.’

Moira Lynch ruffled his fur to soothe him.

"Right, this snow should be fresh water, too."

Moira Lynch was just about to say they could probably just collect the snow instead of running so far for water.

But on closer inspection, she saw that while the snow on the surface was white, digging into it revealed it was mixed with countless black particles.

Leaning in for a sniff, she identified the smell—it seemed to be wood ash from burnt vegetation.

When they reached the riverbank, they found several holes already in the ice. The holes were spaced apart from each other, likely chiseled by different people.

People were collecting water from two of the holes, while others were taking the opportunity to fish.

Seeing this, Moira Lynch found an unoccupied hole, broke through the thin layer of ice that had just formed on the surface, and started filling her bamboo tube.

Once the bamboo tube was full, Moira Lynch pretended to be interested in fishing while secretly funneling water into her spatial storage.

Seeing her actions, Black Wolf raised a paw and swiped it swiftly through the water, pulling out a Razor-fin Fish that weighed a good twenty or thirty pounds.

It struggled on the ice for a few moments before freezing solid.

Then, Black Wolf swiped his paw several more times, and each strike was a guaranteed catch.

After the tenth fish, Moira Lynch hastily stopped him.

"Enough, enough! That’s more than enough."

By this point, Moira Lynch had already filled all the containers in her spatial storage.

She looked at the ten fish, now frozen solid beside them, then took out a rope, strung them together, and slung them over Black Wolf’s back.

Then, under the envious gazes of the other people, she left the area.

This time, Moira Lynch and Black Wolf came to a stretch of coastline they had never visited before.

"There’s something purple over there. Let’s go check it out," Moira Lynch said from Black Wolf’s back, pointing toward the base of a reef not far away.

Ever since realizing this area was the Aelmar Emporium they had visited before, Moira Lynch had been searching for any sign of sea ears.

With the Sea Pearls from inside the sea ears, she would be able to swim freely underwater.

Unfortunately, she had been searching for days without any luck.

This time, as they passed by the beach, Moira Lynch spotted a reef in the distance. The area around it was reflecting a purple light in the sun.

As she got closer, she saw that they were none other than the sea ears she had been longing to find.

Her spiritual power swept over the sea ears on the reef, and she knew instantly which ones contained Sea Pearls and which did not.

After collecting all the Sea Pearls from the reef, she saw Black Wolf jumping around on the patch of purple as if he were on solid ground.

It was only then that Moira Lynch realized the sea around the reef was completely filled with plant vines. The purple she had seen earlier was the fruit of these plants.

[Qio Vine: Hailed as the bridge of the sea. It grows so densely that one can even build houses on it. Its seeds are nutritious and a favorite food of fish. It has tenacious Life Energy, grows quickly, and has a long life cycle.

A Qio Vine can live for up to one hundred years.]

Moira Lynch bent down and plucked a purple fruit from the water.

With a slight squeeze—CRACK!—the purple fruit burst open in her palm, revealing small white grains.

Moira Lynch’s eyes widened as she stared at the contents of her hand. "Is this... rice?"

She popped one of the grains into her mouth and chewed. A rich, rice-like aroma filled her mouth. ’Yep, it’s definitely rice.’

’This Qio Vine is a real treasure.’

’Not only can it create solid ground to walk on, but it also produces rice. It has tenacious Life Energy, grows fast, has a long lifespan... plant it once, and you can eat for a hundred years.’

’This Qio Vine must have been sent from the heavens to help me.’

Looking at the Qio Vine surrounding the reef, Moira Lynch spent a full hour gathering it all into her spatial storage.

By now, the Knotweed Kelp in her miniature ocean had already multiplied considerably.

Because Moira Lynch had been constantly collecting all sorts of marine life, the miniature ocean was starting to look a bit crowded.

Looking at the thriving Knotweed Kelp and the newly added Qio Vine, Moira Lynch felt a deep sense of accomplishment.

"Just be patient a little longer," she murmured. "It won’t be long before I move you all to a new home. I promise it will be spacious."

Before leaving, Moira Lynch checked on the growth of the Full Vine.

The environment inside her storage space seemed to be exceptionally suitable for its growth.

Urged on by a hungry Black Wolf, Moira Lynch started a fire to cook. She scaled the ten Razor-fin Fish, cleaned their innards, marinated them for a while, and then placed them over the fire to roast.

Black Wolf lay down by the fire, waiting for the meal, his tail wagging behind him.

Moira Lynch, meanwhile, prepared to investigate the situation underground.

Just then, she noticed some movement in the seawater not far away.

Walking over to take a look, she discovered a school of brightly colored, thumb-sized fish fighting over food.

[Seafloor Scavenger: Also known as the Little Rainbow, it is an ornamental fish that feeds on various dead creatures in the sea. It has tenacious Life Energy, is hardy, easy to raise, and is the savior of aspiring aquarists who tend to kill their fish.]
