Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 189: Deserted Island Survival 13
The Black Wolf approached the six people step by step, its sharp eyes fixed on them.
Just then, one of them launched the first attack, conjuring a red fireball in his hand and hurling it violently in the Black Wolf’s direction.
However, an attack of that level was easily dodged.
From Moira Lynch’s vantage point, she could even see a flash of disdain and mockery in the Black Wolf’s eyes.
"What are you standing around for? Attack!"
Spurred by the first person’s shout, the others snapped out of their shock and began to use their own talents to attack.
Among the six, however, only four had combat-type talents. The man and woman who didn’t attack were clearly support types.
While the others were attacking, they hurriedly gathered the prey from the ground.
Moira Lynch saw one of them take out a Space Button and stuff all the prey inside.
Meanwhile, the four people’s attacks had no effect at all; instead, they only managed to enrage the Black Wolf.
The Black Wolf drew closer and closer, its body tensing into an attack stance as a low growl rumbled in its throat.
"Retreat!"
Seeing they were no match for the Black Wolf, one of them decisively gave the order.
He then pulled an item from his clothes, and a second later, they were teleported away.
But they weren’t teleported very far. Three seconds later, they reappeared a few hundred meters away.
The distance was more than enough for them to escape.
Besides, the Black Wolf showed no intention of giving chase.
After the six people had left, the Black Wolf staggered, and then its entire body crashed heavily to the ground.
It was only then that Moira Lynch noticed the Black Wolf’s hind leg was twisted at an unnatural angle, and there were two bloody holes in its abdomen.
The others probably hadn’t noticed because of its black fur and their own intense nervousness.
Seeing the Black Wolf twitch on the ground before falling still, she noticed blood was slowly seeping from its wounds, aggravated by its recent movements.
Moira Lynch hesitated. To be honest, the Black Wolf’s combat prowess had greatly impressed her.
However, she didn’t act rashly. First, she used her spiritual power to try and communicate with it.
Perhaps because it was so heavily injured and had just been through a fight, the Black Wolf’s consciousness was already fading.
Moira Lynch could only send it a wave of goodwill through her spiritual power for the time being, to make it understand she was here to help and prevent it from lashing out and hurting her.
After sending the signal, she received no response from the Black Wolf, but that no longer mattered.
Moira Lynch leaped down from the tree and took out the Medicine that had refreshed that morning, using it to keep the Black Wolf from death’s door.
Up close, the Black Wolf’s size was unexpectedly immense. She hadn’t realized it from a distance. No wonder those people had treated it like a formidable enemy.
Moira Lynch estimated that she was barely as tall as one of the wolf’s legs.
With that done, she moved swiftly to treat the Black Wolf’s wounds, in case the group noticed something amiss and came back.
Then, she stored the Black Wolf in her space.
This seemed to be an area the group frequented, so Moira Lynch decided to retrace her steps.
Since she hadn’t wasted any time on the way, Moira Lynch quickly returned to her camp.
She cleared away the surrounding Arden and then released the Black Wolf into the empty space.
Perhaps because the Physical Potion had provided it with some energy, its breathing was now weak but steady.
Moira Lynch’s medical skills were limited to what she had seen in video tutorials, but that didn’t matter.
Before starting the treatment, Moira Lynch needed to clean the matted fur around the wounds.
"That’s easy enough."
Moira Lynch conjured a pair of electric clippers and, within minutes, shaved the fur around the wounds clean. She then ground an anesthetized Arden into a powder and sprinkled it evenly over the injuries.
Only then could Moira Lynch see the true state of the wounds.
Besides the two obvious circular wounds, there was also a semicircle of smaller injuries. The two largest circular wounds were bigger than both her fists put together.
From the looks of it, something had clearly bitten it across the torso. If that was the case...
Moira Lynch summoned a white flame and, together with the Healing Device, began to treat the wounds on this side first.
A few minutes later, Moira Lynch’s face was pale. "Saving a life really isn’t easy."
Fortunately, the Healing Device was powerful enough. Ten minutes later, the wounds on this side of the Black Wolf were completely healed.
Then...
Moira Lynch stored the Black Wolf in her space, flipped it over, and then released it again.
Just as she thought.
Just as Moira Lynch had suspected, there were two more distinct wounds on the Black Wolf’s other side.
After she shaved the fur, she saw that the wounds on this side were almost perfectly symmetrical to those on the other.
The Black Wolf was already massive, but for an animal to be able to bite it like this, just how huge must it be?
At that moment, the first name that came to Moira Lynch’s mind was Shirley Blackwood.
If it was Shirley Blackwood, it wouldn’t be impossible for her to leave such wounds.
Watching the Healing Device busily work on the Black Wolf, Moira Lynch suddenly had a thought. ’What if the Black Wolf just runs off after it’s healed?’
So she quietly told the Healing Device not to heal it completely.
But when she checked, she found that Patience had already thought of this. The Healing Device had held back from the very beginning of the treatment.
The Black Wolf’s wounds only looked healed on the surface; internally, they were not.
Hearing Patience say this, Moira Lynch felt relieved and turned her attention to the wound on the Black Wolf’s paw.
The injury on its paw wasn’t a bite mark, but one made by an animal trap.
She recalled the conversation she’d overheard from that group, where they mentioned a trap had been triggered but had caught no prey.
Since the bone was injured, Moira Lynch found a few straight pieces of wood and then used a bandage to secure them as a splint.
This type of bandage, developed by the base using the outer skin of Repair Aloe Vera, was not only waterproof and well-sealed but also had a slight healing effect.
By the time she had finished treating all the wounds, the sky had grown completely dark.
Moira Lynch stood up, brought out her RV, and began to prepare dinner.
She made a dough drop soup using the flour from inside a Full Vine. Moira Lynch took a taste and nodded in satisfaction.
"Not bad, not bad at all. A hundred times better than Soldier Food Rattan."
Moira Lynch hadn’t added any seasoning, yet the soup’s flavor was incredibly rich. This could only be the natural taste of the Full Vine itself.
After a wonderful meal, she checked on the growth of the Full Vines in her space.
The Full Vines she had planted just a short while ago had already begun to sprout. At this rate, it wouldn’t be long before she could sell them in large quantities.
Moira Lynch had specifically cleared out a large area just for cultivating the Full Vines, giving them plenty of room to flourish.
