Another World Mall
Chapter 1157: One Phone Call
There weren’t many things to discuss after Clovis revealed his dream. All they knew was the reason why they had created this world.
It was clear what had happened in reality. They had discussed it before.
Melody created the simulation world, Luci prepared a liquid that allowed Clovis to stay in this world without harming his real body, Hana handled all the procurement of materials, and Mara gave him her power.
The rest was simply fulfilling their respective duties, similar to what they were doing in this world. Kanaria was good at logistics and carefully governed their territory, and Angelia would be supporting with the negotiation part.
Jay and the others maintained the defense in the city so that they wouldn’t fall.
If they were severely lacking in equipment, it meant that the void in this world might not have been caused by the prophet. It might also be a fault in the system or hardware that maintained this world.
Nevertheless, they knew a few things. First, the flow of time in this world was faster than in the real world. If not, Clovis would have grown extremely old.
They didn’t know how much faster unless they knew how much time had passed in the real world.
Still, it would surely require a lot of energy and resources to maintain this world. After all, if such a world could be used easily, they could send many people to train in this world for twenty years, when in the real world, only a few months or a few years had passed.
That was why they might concentrate everything on Clovis. In other words, Clovis couldn’t stay in this world as long as he wanted.
He needed to leave as quickly as possible. To do that, he needed to defeat the prophet and enter the last tower.
Despite the time constraint, Clovis didn’t intend to proceed recklessly. They had been preparing for this, so it was only right for them to go according to the original plan.
If they couldn’t win, it would be over.
Hence, Clovis made a few changes in their approach. First, he intended to utilize the new shop to create a few elite groups. He would bestow his enhanced equipment on those elite groups.
While Clovis was preparing for everything, including his wedding, the strongest man in the world, Edward Grant, received a burner phone.
As soon as the burner phone was taken out of the envelope, it suddenly rang as though someone had called it.
"..." Edward picked up the phone. "Hello?"
"Hi, Edward."
"..." Edward turned grim as soon as he heard the information. "This voice... You are Silvia Esferath... the wife of Steven Esferath."
"I’m glad that you still recognize my voice. When we met in the past, you were still quite young."
Edward closed his eyes for a moment, remembering the first time they met. It was before the apocalypse. Steven was a famous person with extraordinary wealth. So, they once visited his father when he was still a young adult.
He later heard that Steven died and Silvia had a new family, the Hacfield family.
While they weren’t exactly close, they weren’t supposed to be enemies. After all, his father was once helped by Steven Esferath.
"You should stop this. I still remember you and that debt. That’s why, please... I don’t want to fight you or anyone you’re close with."
"I know, but it’s inevitable. I guess the prophet is threatening you."
Edward sighed. "Yeah. I’m not sure what he has, but it looks like he’s planning to use the towers or something that will become disadvantageous for me. I am not sure what it is, but I also have some obligation to protect what I currently have, especially my family. Just like you’re protecting your family, I’m protecting mine.
"Even if we’re going to be enemies, just know that I won’t kill Michael. If he has the chance, he should escape and survive. The same applies to your great-grandson, Clovis Hacfield. That’s the only thing I can do for you.
"However, I can’t stop the others from trying to kill them, so please... just stop all this. The situation has become irreversible after the Moon Bow died."
Silvia smiled. "I see. You don’t have to worry about that. I believe that the boys will do just fine. I’m glad that you still remember me, but there’s no telling who will win in the end."
"..." Edward sighed. "Well, Xali is different from me. He won’t hesitate to go for the kill..."
"I know. That’s why I’m asking for something."
Edward’s expression turned solemn. "What do you want? If you want me not to join this war, it’s already impossible. I’ve told you that the situation has become irreversible."
"No. I’m not going to ask you that. Instead, I want you to just stall for time, including stopping Xali Kekna."
"!!!" Edward widened his eyes. "For how long?"
"My great-grandson is going to marry in two months."
"Congratulations."
"Thank you. Well, he definitely wants to have a honeymoon and a peaceful time for a bit. So, I’m wondering if you can stop them just for three months after his marriage?"
"Three months after his marriage... five months in total. I guess I can do that. Is that all you want?"
"That’s all I want."
"Fine. I will help you with that. Xali won’t make trouble for you for the next five months. I will have my hands full, though. You need to handle Carnan yourself."
"I have a lot of things prepared for the prophet. Don’t worry."
"Okay."
"Thank you, Edward."
"You’re welcome. It’s nice to hear your voice again, Madam. Losing Mr. Steven was truly hard. My father fell sick for a few months after knowing about his death. Maybe once this is all over, we can meet again. I’m sure my father would like to meet Mr. Steven one last time. He’s already 91 with dementia, so I don’t know if it’s going to be helpful or not..."
"Sure. I will arrange it after this is over."
"Goodbye to you, Madam."
"Goodbye, Edward. Take care of your family."
"I will." Edward hung up the call and let out a long sigh.
