Another World Mall
Chapter 1146: Everything
"The beast essence." Clovis turned grim.
"Yeah. In a way, you can think of it this way. You are the player of this world, and the others are the NPCs or non-playable characters for you who don’t play any games.
"Your job as a player is to kill the beasts. When the beasts die, you will get EXP and some drops. The drops can vary from beast souls, which is essentially like a skill or their bodies as materials.
"If you venture deep into the wilderness, you will unlock that part of the map. Once the humans conquer that part of the map, it will stop the spawn from that particular part. On the other hand, it will become a target for the beasts to be destroyed.
"Once the beasts take an area, they will create a spawn point. Anything won’t appear if there are humans in that particular area. That’s probably why you will be able to clear the area.
"I don’t know the meaning of these towers. It might be the objective of the game or something. We will only know after we visit all seven towers."
They simply couldn’t believe what they had just heard. This explained a lot about this world. If their world was indeed a game, the concept was horrifying. This basically told them that they were not humans. They were merely characters created by programs.
"It doesn’t seem to be something we can reveal to the world just yet." Michael crossed his arms.
"I can’t help but agree with that. If we reveal that, the chaos it will create will be unimaginable. Of course, we probably can reveal that in the future and blame everything on the prophet, but we will have to see their reactions." Ezekiel agreed with Michael, understanding the dangers it posed to society.
"So, this tower is the one controlling the spawn of those beasts..." Clovis crossed his arms.
"Not entirely. This tower actually controls the birth of everything."
"What do you mean?" Clovis frowned.
"Everything, I mean everything. For example, if a mother gave birth to a child, this tower would register their baby from age to the name that will be registered. Then, that data will be stored and updated in the Tower of Storage.
"If the humans create a weapon, they will register the weapons, materials, how it’s forged, and so on. In a way, it will make everything look similar, as if they’re real humans." Melody explained.
Clovis looked down, falling into deep thought.
"So, that means everything will be registered by this tower? Names, strength, techniques, and so on." Michael nodded in understanding. He didn’t expect the tower to actually contain such a secret.
"This is... I don’t even know what to say about this." Ezekiel scratched the back of his head.
"Yeah. It’s really everything. It registers everything for the world to remember and recognize." Melody confirmed. "For now, I will try to record the code, but it will take too long. I think you should just go home. If the area is clear, I can stay here for a long time and escape."
"No can do." Clovis was the first to reject.
"If you stay here with me, it will take too much time. You can spend that time getting stronger. On the other hand, I don’t plan to get stronger for the time being since we are focusing all our resources on you, so you should go back, babe."
"Still—" Clovis didn’t like the idea he had to leave Melody behind.
However, Michael had an idea.
"How about this?" Michael grinned. "You guys should go back. I will take care of her here."
"Grandpa?" Clovis frowned.
"You can still grow stronger outside, so you should do that. We are relying on you to become a Tier 9 human. If you are worried about her, I will stay here with her. This way, her safety will be guaranteed.
"The Prophet won’t dare to come here because they will think this is another trap. Rather than risking everything, he’d rather build up his army for one final battle to make sure he comes on top.
"Hence, we can leave just fine. And I don’t have much to do other than protecting the Hacfield family.
"With your current strength, you are strong enough to protect it in my stead. So, go home and hunt some beasts to get stronger. With you there, the Prophet won’t dare to harm the Hacfield family either.
"Don’t worry about the management. Your parents will do it for you. If you need anything, just ask your great-grandma.
"Your team should accompany you. Besides, Melody is your operator. She can still help you from afar. The connection here should be quite good, since we are not that far from the surface.
"And even if she is absent for a while, you should be able to handle it on your own for some time, right?"
Michael was glaring at him. Clovis had to understand his position. Melody was thinking for his own good.
"Right? That should be the case. I support her decision. For that, I’m going to drag him out if he refuses." Mara agreed and stood behind Clovis as though she was ready to grab the back of his collar and dragged him away.
"We are here to help." Christina winked playfully as she came with Kanaria.
With the three of them working together, there was no way Clovis could fight back.
Clovis let out a long sigh. "Fine..."
Melody smiled. "Look at you, such a worrywart. Don’t worry about me. Besides, Grandpa Michael is strong. I will be fine. Besides, I will tell you when we’re about to leave if you are that worried. You can sweep everything first to ensure that we’re safe to leave. However, I won’t let you just do that without thinking about the hunt. There won’t be any wasting time on my watch."
"See? Hahaha. My granddaughter-in-law is very good." Michael laughed out loud. He liked them more because each of them was capable of doing things beyond normal people.
Clovis wouldn’t be so lonely with them around.
