This world was indeed complicated, and people could be cruel. The vast online world made it all too easy for netizens to band together and launch a collective attack against a single person.

Lin Feng had already prepared himself to hear all kinds of vicious remarks. Who would have thought that, in the end, there had been nothing more than a few sour comments?

The things people said about him online were far worse, far more unhinged. Even those comments had been reported and taken down.

In actual reality, there simply weren’t that many people who went about spewing vulgarities and making a scene without the slightest regard for their dignity, especially in high society, where people strove to maintain an air of grace and poise.

Even Mrs. Jiang’s words had already been considered rather harsh by the standards of their social circle.

Thinking of this, Lin Feng smiled faintly, feeling a little happier.

He felt that he was improving, that he was growing stronger emotionally. And this realization alone was enough to make him happy.

A pair of small white wings fluttered before him, catching his attention.

Lin Feng unconsciously raised his hand, and a white butterfly landed delicately on the tip of his finger.

The weather was still cool, but the warmth of spring was gradually returning. The plants were regaining their vibrant colors, insects had already stirred.

Butterflies were once again fluttering among the flowers.

’Once I’ve apologized to the Tang family, I want to return to Beigou Village. The spring scenery there must be beautiful.’

At that moment, Lin Feng did not notice that several other white butterflies had begun fluttering around him, as though drawn to the happiness in his heart.

The boy gently lifted his finger. The butterfly flapped its wings and took flight toward the moon.

With a tranquil heart, Lin Feng turned around and walked out of the garden.

Then, he immediately slammed into a hard wall.

"Ow."

Lin Feng clutched his reddening nose, tears welling up in his eyes from the pain.

He raised his head, still holding his aching nose, only to realize that he had accidentally bumped into a tall man. His face had struck the man’s chest squarely.

Embarrassed, Lin Feng hurriedly took two steps back and apologized. "My apologies. I didn’t realize someone was standing here. It’s rather dark."

He had been gazing at the moon for so long that his eyes had been momentarily blinded after looking away from its bright moonlight.

Wei Tianyu looked down at the slender boy standing before him.

’So this is the person everyone was looking at earlier?’

’He’s certainly pretty.’

Especially when those butterflies had surrounded him just moments ago.

For some inexplicable reason, Wei Tianyu had found himself standing motionless in the shadows, quietly appreciating the scene.

Hearing the boy’s soft, gentle voice which was soothing to the ears, Wei Tianyu couldn’t help thinking again.

’What a gentle-natured person.’

He smiled, putting on what he considered a harmless expression to avoid startling the boy.

"It is indeed rather dark. It’s also my fault for not moving out of the way in time. I just saw Tang Rui and Rong Junpei here. Do you know them?"

Lin Feng paused, lowering his hand before taking a closer look at the person standing before him.

The shadows obscured the man’s face, making it difficult to discern his features.

The boy did not answer immediately. Instead, he politely asked, "I’m sorry, but who might you be?"

Just as Wei Tianyu was about to open his mouth, a voice called out from behind them.

"Tianyu? Xiao Feng?"

Lin Feng and Wei Tianyu simultaneously turned toward the person calling.

Wei Ranmiao had returned, with Bai Jianning in tow.

’Aunt Ranmiao knows this person?’

Lin Feng had no idea that his aunt had been eavesdropping earlier. He merely assumed that she and his cousin had grown worried about his prolonged absence and had come looking for him.

The tall man turned around, his face finally illuminated by the lights along the corridor.

"Good evening, Auntie. It’s been a while."

Lin Feng: Auntie? So he’s a relative?

Wei Ranmiao maintained a calm expression on the surface, but inwardly, she felt awkward and somewhat guilty.

"What are you doing here? How long have you been standing there?"

Initially, she had followed Lin Feng out of concern for his heart condition, worried that another argument might trigger his ailment again.

She truly did not intend to eavesdrop.

But when they saw Tang Rui approaching, Bai Jianning suddenly ran off, and Wei Ranmiao had instinctively followed her daughter, it was already too late when she realized.

How embarrassing, as an elder, she had actually stooped to doing such a thing!

It was all her silly daughter’s fault!

"Ahem! What a coincidence!" Wei Ranmiao coughed awkwardly. "Tianyu, this is my nephew, Lin Feng. Xiao Feng, this is Wei Tianyu, Wei Yue’s son and the birthday boy of next week’s banquet."

Wei Ranmiao belonged to an outer branch of the Wei family. Her father was a cousin of the current family patriarch. Although she was a daughter of the Wei family, she rarely interacted with the main branch outside of obligatory family gatherings.

Lin Feng?

Wei Tianyu’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as he wondered why the name sounded so familiar.

"What a coincidence indeed." Lin Feng’s eyes widened.

They had only been talking about this person earlier that very day, and now he had appeared right before them!

There was only one person who could be considered a member of the Hou family, Hou Yizhen.

Then this man must be Hou Yizhen’s friend.

Thinking of this, Lin Feng’s gaze softened as he looked at Wei Tianyu and nodded in greeting, his eyes curving up into a smile. "I am Lin Feng. It’s a pleasure to meet you."

Wei Tianyu paused before smiling back, his eyes curving into crescents as well. He extended his hand in greeting. "I’m Wei Tianyu. Just call me Brother Yu."

Brother Yu?

Lin Feng found this rather amusing.

The seniority among their different generations was truly a tangled mess. Wei Tianyu was Aunt Ranmiao’s nephew, while Uncle Hou was Wei Tianyu’s friend. Now, Wei Tianyu was asking Lin Feng to call him brother.
