The deadlock did not last long before Housekeeper Yang arrived and asked Lin Feng if he wanted to eat breakfast.

"Are you hungry?" Grandpa Bai asked, standing up.

Lin Feng unconsciously touched his stomach, which felt empty, and nodded quietly.

"Then eat first. We’ll talk later."

Lin Feng felt his heart rise to his throat with tension, but he obediently nodded.

The boy ate breakfast alone, and immediately afterward, the old man whisked him away to the master’s bedroom for a proper talk.

"Do you really like Hou Yizhen?" The old man went straight to the point.

"Grandpa..." Lin Feng’s face turned red, then pale. "Y-You know..."

"I’ve been young, too. I’ve had my fair share of experiences. As men, we all have needs. If I still didn’t understand that after all these years, then I would have lived in vain."

Perhaps if Lin Feng had truly been a man through and through, he might not have been so embarrassed.

But the truth was different. The realization that an elder had discovered him and Hou Yizhen in their lewd affair last night filled Lin Feng with extreme embarrassment, and a sense of humiliation rose within him.

And yet... Lin Feng still did not regret it.

Because he had confirmed that Hou Yizhen liked him.

"I’m sorry, Grandpa. I... I seduced Uncle." He closed his eyes and confessed. "Initially, he did not like me at all. But because I have dirty intentions, I... Despite knowing he’s an elder, I still... I still seduced him."

Although he had somewhat expected this to be the truth, hearing it confirmed still filled Grandpa Bai with disappointment.

"Ah Feng," he said in a low tone, his voice still gentle. "He is your mother’s little brother. Your uncle."

Bai Yufei was Grandpa Bai’s treasure. He himself, just like Hou Yizhen, did not have a high moral compass.

He had seen many secret relationships like the pair’s. Some were even more scandalous.

The reason why he was upset was that he felt his precious daughter had only just passed away, yet this useless sworn brother was already preying on her child.

It was a complete betrayal. Yet, because the sworn-sibling relationship had never been formalized and was only verbally agreed upon between the two, like a tacit understanding, he could not truly hold it against Hou Yizhen.

The boy’s hands clenched into fists, his eyelashes fluttering. "...I know."

"Despite knowing this, you still did it." Disappointment filled his heart. Yet this was Feifei’s son; he could not just give up on him.

The boy nodded, his eyes lowered, his lashes moist. "I really love him, Grandpa."

Grandpa Bai: So young. Do you even know what love is?

The air fell silent. Only the wind blowing through the open windows and the rustling of leaves outside could be heard. The curtains swayed, bringing in the cool spring air, but neither of the two people inside the room appreciated it.

"Ah Feng. People nowadays can tolerate homosexuality in our country because the world has changed. But if people discover that you have an indecent relationship with your uncle, you will be condemned."

The boy did not speak, his eyes still lowered. However, his face grew even paler, all color draining from it.

Grandpa Bai saw his grandson’s forlorn appearance, and it struck at his heart. "Lin Feng, you already experienced an immoral scandal a few months ago. If another similarly immoral scandal breaks out, even the strongest person will not be able to bear it."

A small bird flew in from the balcony, peering inside.

The golden rays of the morning sun reflected on the boy’s soft, light brown hair and fair skin, suffusing him in a soft golden glow and making him look especially delicate.

Just like his daughter, Bai Yufei.

Grandpa Bai sighed, feeling tired. "Ah Feng, let’s not stay here any longer. Grandpa is not young anymore. I can’t handle any more shocks. Think about it more clearly. In the meantime, let’s go back to the capital. I think you need some distance to clear your mind."

Lin Feng raised his head suddenly, the tips of his gold-hued hair trembling in the light as he moved. His amber eyes widened, and his lashes glistened faintly with moisture.

He wanted to say more, but seeing the elder’s exhausted face and the lines that seemed to have appeared overnight, he could not bear to speak out of filial piety.

His vision blurred, and he whispered, "I understand. I will go back with you."

....

Leaning against the hallway wall, a tall man with a strong, sturdy physique crossed his arms. His bronze skin contrasted with the light wall paint, while his black hair and the dragon tattoo on his neck were glaringly eye-catching.

Hearing the footsteps, he raised his head, looked past the old man, and stared straight at the boy.

Hou Yizhen observed the boy’s face.

The corners of his eyes were only a little rosy. Had he cried? They weren’t swollen or red, so he probably hadn’t cried much.

He looked quite pale. Had he been afraid and been scolded a lot?

He walked pretty well, without any limp. The medicine Hou Yizhen had applied to his inner thighs last night must have worked well.

Hou Yizhen’s eyes could only see the boy, and he ignored the dark expression of the old man walking in front of him. He straightened up, and his height of over 1.9 meters became very apparent as he towered over the two of them.

The man walked a few steps and immediately reached the boy’s side. He pinched the boy’s chin, lifted his face, and looked at him more closely.

Only after confirming that there were no other marks indicating the boy had been wronged did Hou Yizhen sigh in relief and let go.

Lin Feng worriedly glanced at his grandfather, but fortunately, the old man did not show much anger.

What Lin Feng did not know was that the old man had already vented much of his anger earlier, while he was still asleep in the room.

But the next moment, Grandpa Bai spoke in a calm voice. "Master Hou, we will not be staying in Beigou Village for the next few days. We plan to return home later this afternoon."

Hou Yizhen paused, his dark eyes slowly lifting to look at the old man.

He did not speak, but his displeasure was palpable.

Lin Feng did not want the two to argue. Knowing how proud Hou Yizhen was, the boy worried that the man might accidentally say something that would provoke his grandfather’s simmering anger.

He reached out and grabbed a corner of Hou Yizhen’s clothes.

The man paused again and looked down at him.

Amber eyes and inky-black pools met. Both were silent, but countless undercurrents flowed beneath the quiet.

Grandpa Bai wanted to break the pair’s intimate contact, but restrained himself.

The more he tried to push them apart, the more his grandson would be unable to extricate himself.

But he also could not accept seeing the two together.

In the end, he said, "Ah Feng, your uncle has taken care of you for a period of time, so you should thank him. You two talk. I will rest in my room. We will be leaving in the afternoon."

He turned to leave, but after only a few steps, he could not resist adding another warning.

"You’re uncle and nephew, and Lin Feng is still a minor. Don’t do anything rash. If you do, I really will send you overseas."

Only then did the old man finally leave and retreat into his room to call his son and make arrangements for Lin Feng’s move into the ancestral home.
