Tang Family, Beijing

Tang Rui had just come downstairs for breakfast when he saw his parents.

Their expressions were serious as they looked at him.

"What does this mean?"

On the table, a cellphone was playing a video showing Tang Rui’s performance at the Bohai Spring Festival the previous night.

After a brief pause, Tang Rui continued downstairs and walked over to the table. He sat down and asked a servant to serve his breakfast. Only then did he answer his mother’s question.

"I only wanted to teach Lin Feng a lesson. I didn’t expect so many things to happen at the Bohai Spring Festival."

Tang Rui’s mother slammed her hand against the table in anger.

"I already told you not to associate with anyone from the Lin or Bai families. You know what people say about them. But what did you do? Did you even listen? You went all the way to the Bohai Spring Festival to confront that boy.

"And what happened? Did you teach him a lesson? All I saw was the two of you acting incredibly friendly with each other.

"Look at what happened. You were far too close to him. If the person who threw that sulfuric acid had been even slightly off with their aim, it could have landed on you. If that had happened, do you think your regrets afterward would have been of any use?"

"Now, now, dear. Stop it. We’re already too stressed about everything that’s happening. Tang Rui couldn’t have expected what happened at the Bohai Spring Festival."

Father Tang gently patted his wife’s back.

"Ah Rui, as my son, you are one of the most observant among the younger generation of the Tang family. What did you notice during your visit this time, when you went to see Lin Feng? What kind of child is he?

"Think carefully about what you’re going to say. The Tang family’s next steps may change depending on your observations of that child."

Tang Rui remained silent for a moment before honestly sharing everything he had observed about Lin Feng during their brief interaction at the Bohai Spring Festival.

Elsewhere in Beijing

Inside one of the Chu family residences, Chu Jingyan woke with a start at the sudden knocking on his door.

He grabbed a pillow and covered his head with it, pretending not to hear.

Suddenly, the door opened.

The next moment, the blanket and pillow were pulled away from him, followed by his mother’s voice, the Third Aunt of the Chu family.

"Chu Jingyan, look at how capable you are. Sleeping so soundly here, you don’t even care about what’s happening outside. Do you know what everyone is talking about right now? Huh, Chu Jingyan?"

His mother only called him by his full name when she was truly angry.

So Chu Jingyan reluctantly opened his eyes, sat up, and rubbed his head.

"Why should I care? I haven’t even done anything since I came back."

"Look at this."

A phone screen was shoved right in front of his face.

"Look at the trending hot posts."

The man’s eyes suddenly cleared, widening as he frowned and grabbed the phone to stare at the screen.

"Did that little bastard go after Lin Feng?" he asked furiously. "He dared to throw sulfuric acid at my baby? How is Lin Feng? Did he get hurt?"

Just as he was about to search for more information, the phone was snatched from his hand, and his mother slapped him hard across the face.

"Chu Jingyan. Calm down right now. Your grandfather is calling for you. You’re heading to the ancestral home in half an hour. Get dressed."

.....

Bai Family

Grandpa Bai only learned about everything that had happened to Lin Feng after the news had already gone viral. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

After learning everything, he became furious.

"That Hou brat! So many things have already happened, yet he didn’t even tell me. That’s my grandson! If this post hadn’t gone viral like this, was he planning to hide everything from me?"

Taking several deep breaths, it took Grandpa Bai a while to calm down.

It was Sunday, and there was nothing else for him to do at home. He had originally wanted to keep Lin Feng hidden, but now that everyone already knew where Lin Feng was staying, there was no point in avoiding a visit anymore.

So, Grandpa Bai stood up and walked out of his study.

"Prepare the car and the gifts. We’re going to visit Ah Feng right now."

....

And this time, what was Lin Feng doing?

Lin Feng was back at the homestay villa, inside the spacious study, about to begin the plan he had been thinking about throughout the night.

The previous night, Lin Feng had overheard a few people in the chaotic crowd mentioning hot posts and discussions on the forums.

Once he was alone in his room, he finally took out his phone, opened his social media apps, and logged in.

What he saw was shocking.

It turned out that the whole world already knew about his homosexuality, as well as everything that had happened during the festival!

If Lin Feng had not already been thoroughly numbed to everything that had happened, perhaps this would have driven him to despair.

But at this point, Lin Feng was already beyond feeling shocked.

Numbly, he thought, ’What did I even do wrong? I didn’t kill anyone by being homosexual.’

Grandpa Wang had said that homosexuals might be considered a minority, but compared to the global situation several decades ago, society had changed greatly. Nowadays, anyone who openly scorned homosexuality would instead be criticized for being narrow-minded.

More and more people were becoming accepting of the changes in the world.

In a way, it was also a good thing that Lin Feng was not entirely Chinese. Many Chinese people had the strange perception that foreigners were extremely liberated and more accepting when someone behaved contrary to traditional social standards.

They would simply say, ’Well, it must be because of his foreign blood.’
