After making sure Edmund was properly taken care of at the hospital, Lin Feng, Hou Yizhen, and Housekeeper Yang returned to their homestay villa in Beigou Village.

In the back of the car, everyone remained silent. No one spoke the entire way until they arrived at the villa.

Housekeeper Yang remained calm, but Hou Yizhen couldn’t help glancing at Lin Feng from time to time.

Something was definitely different, but he couldn’t quite figure out what it was.

Why did Lin Feng seem even quieter than usual?

Could he have been shocked by what happened earlier?

When they arrived home, Hou Yizhen asked Lin Feng if he had eaten dinner yet.

Lin Feng shook his head.

So, they had another quiet dinner together at the dining table.

Hou Yizhen thought Lin Feng would remain silent throughout the meal, but then, out of nowhere, Lin Feng spoke. ℴ

"Uncle Hou, after we finish eating, there’s something I want to talk to you about. Can we talk in your study?"

For some reason, Hou Yizhen suddenly felt relieved.

He nodded and said, "Alright. I think we really need to have a proper conversation."

Later, inside Hou Yizhen’s study, the two of them sat facing each other.

Lin Feng took a deep breath before speaking.

"Uncle Hou, I want to talk to you about what happened last time."

I knew it, Hou Yizhen thought.

He nodded and waited for Lin Feng to continue.

"Uncle, you know that the relationship between the two of us can’t really be considered acceptable in the eyes of society, right?"

Hou Yizhen remained silent for a moment before asking, "Which part of our relationship are you referring to? The fact that we’re uncle and nephew? Or the fact that we’re both men?"

"If what you’re thinking about is because we’re uncle and nephew, then first of all, we’re not related by blood.

"And secondly, if you’re referring to the fact that we’re both men..." Hou Yizhen gave a sarcastic smile. "Nowadays, there’s nothing wrong with homosexuality. Same-sex marriage is already legal in some countries. This isn’t the same era when homosexuality was condemned by society."

Lin Feng fell silent at Hou Yizhen’s words.

Then he asked, "You mean you don’t care what other people say? Even if the whole world found out that you were in a relationship with another man, it wouldn’t bother you?"

Hou Yizhen scoffed.

"Why should I care what other people think?

"Lin Feng, your problem is that you overthink everything. You think too much about things that haven’t even happened yet. Honestly, people nowadays don’t really care about what other people do. They might say a few things, but in the end, it’s none of their business.

"Do you really think they would go out of their way to condemn the two of us?"

Lin Feng listened quietly to Hou Yizhen’s words.

Hou Yizhen thought Lin Feng would say something else or add to what they had been discussing. But surprisingly, Lin Feng slowly stood up and took a deep breath.

"Thank you for telling me this and for telling me what you really feel and think, Uncle Hou. For now, this is all I wanted to know."

His amber eyes softened as he looked gently at Hou Yizhen.

"Uncle Hou, tomorrow is Sunday. Are you going back to Beijing, or... if possible, could you stay here for a while?"

Hou Yizhen looked deeply into Lin Feng’s eyes before nodding.

"Fine. I’ll stay here with you this weekend."

The two of them silently pretended to forget about their agreement that they would only see each other once every two weeks.

The next day, after waking up, Lin Feng asked Housekeeper Yang where Hou Yizhen was.

"Master Hou has some matters to attend to."

"Then where is he now?"

"He left for Bohai Town this morning, right after waking up. He wants to speak to the culprit from last night’s incident."

"Uncle Yang, can you take me to Bohai Town?"

Housekeeper Yang was alarmed.

"You want to talk to the culprit too? I don’t think that’s advisable."

"No, I just want to visit the nursing home. There’s something I want to ask Grandpa Wang."

Thinking there was nothing wrong with Lin Feng’s request, Housekeeper Yang drove the young man to the nursing home in Bohai Town after Lin Feng finished his late breakfast.

It was only a fifteen-minute drive.

It was the second day of the Spring Festival, so there were already plenty of people in Bohai Town. In fact, there seemed to be even more people than usual, perhaps because of what had happened the previous day.

Instead of stopping in front of the nursing home, the car drove directly into the nursing home’s garage. After getting out, they went to look for Grandpa Wang.

Housekeeper Yang did not know what Lin Feng and Grandpa Wang had talked about in the greenhouse. However, after nearly an hour of conversation, Lin Feng left the nursing home and asked Housekeeper Yang to wait for Hou Yizhen so they could return home together.

Housekeeper Yang couldn’t help glancing at Lin Feng as they waited inside the car outside the police station.

Lin Feng noticed his glances, so he looked at him and smiled, trying to placate the elder.

"Don’t worry, Uncle Yang. I just asked Grandpa Wang a lot of questions. Some of the things I asked about... I think you know about Grandpa Wang’s orientation, since he said that he never hid it from the other elders at the nursing home, right?"

Housekeeper Yang slowly nodded and affirmed, "Yes."

Lin Feng looked outside the car and watched the man who had just walked out of the police station.

Hou Yizhen had finally finished whatever business he had with the police station.

"Lately, I’ve been really confused about everything that’s happened," Lin Feng said slowly. "So it was a great help to hear advice from someone who has experienced a similar situation. At least now, I know what to do."
