Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever
Chapter 594 – When were you going to tell me that Marigold was mine?
Chapter 594: Chapter 594 – When were you going to tell me that Marigold was mine?
Earlier, when Jasmine had informed Voren about Coco’s plan, they had taken the time to put the kids to sleep after getting them to eat before Seraphine aired her discomfort.
"V, if it’s a spell like Noelle confessed, then I’d force her to embrace her real identity." Seraphine’s voice carried a note of steel beneath the fatigue, her eyes gleaming with fierce resolve.
Voren stared at her affectionately, his desires for her increasing with every passing moment. The way she stood her ground, the way she refused to back down, only made him love her more. "And if she refuses?"
"Then I’ll have to force her." A shadow of regret crossed her features. "It might be painful, but I’m willing to compensate her."
Voren thought through it carefully, weighing the implications. It was a crime for Coco and her mother to use a spell to take on Seraphine’s image, a violation of the most fundamental kind.
But no court in the human world would give them a hearing, would even understand the nature of the offense. They had no choice but to force their way, to take justice into their own hands.
She expected Voren to kick against it, to urge caution or restraint. But his response stunned her, his unwavering support catching her off guard. "What will you need?"
After mentioning what she needed, Voren spoke with Elodie and had it delivered before he went to the room with Seraphine and Jasmine.
Elodie stayed behind to watch the sleeping kids until Jasmine’s return, her protective gaze never leaving the children’s peaceful forms.
Though they still hadn’t gotten one important piece of information—the whereabouts of Coco’s mother, Seraphine gave the order, her voice carrying absolute finality.
She also knew that Coco’s injury would force her mother out of her hiding place. A mother’s instinct to protect her child would override even the most careful caution.
And now, Coco felt the impact of whatever Voren had poured on her face, a chemical blend designed to burn the first layer of Coco’s skin to either force her into taking on her own form, or going for a plastic surgery.
"Fuck, it hurts!" Coco cried out, her hands flying to her face as pain seared through her borrowed features. The skin felt like it was melting, like fire ants were crawling beneath the surface.
Seraphine’s response was cold, relentless. "Thanks for giving me a clue." Her eyes narrowed. "But I don’t believe that shit about you not being able to reverse that spell."
All Coco could think about was her burning face, which felt even rougher when she touched it. The borrowed skin that had felt so natural for so long was now a mask of agony, each nerve ending screaming in protest.
"I can help you to heal faster." Seraphine’s voice took on a serious edge. "But you have to tell me where your mother is."
She never expected what happened next.
"Fuck you, Sera." Coco’s voice dripped with venom, her eyes blazing with hatred through the tears of pain. "I’ll make you pay for this."
She clapped her hands together with a sharp crack, and the man on the bed woke up instantly, coughing violently as if emerging from deep water. The sound was harsh and wet, drawing attention away from Coco for a split second.
That was all she needed.
The moment attention shifted to the gasping gigolo, Coco reached for the door and escaped, her movements fluid and impossibly fast. She was gone before anyone could react.
Voren stepped out instinctively, his massive frame filling the doorway as he scanned the corridor. But she was nowhere to be found.
The hallway stretched empty in both directions, silent and still. Someone was even stepping out of the elevator at the far end, meaning she hadn’t used it. So where did she go? The question gnawed at him, a cold dread settling in his stomach.
The man on the bed scrambled for his clothes, his hands trembling as he grabbed for his discarded shirt and pants. Seraphine didn’t spare him a glance, her attention fixed on the empty doorway where Coco had vanished.
When Voren returned, the man looked afraid, his eyes darting between the two of them like a cornered animal. "I’m sorry, sir. This is a big mistake." He began to apologize, his voice cracking with fear. "I didn’t touch her," she looked pleadingly at Seraphine.
Voren forced a smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes. "You can leave."
The man was still afraid, fearing that Voren might still do something afterwards, that this was just a prelude to violence. "Please, sir. I really didn’t touch her." His voice pleaded, desperate for understanding. "I swear on my mother’s life, I didn’t—"
"I know." Voren’s voice was calm, measured, carrying an unexpected gentleness. The man visibly relaxed at the words, his shoulders sagging with relief.
Voren reached for Seraphine, and they stepped out together, leaving him alone in the hotel room. Only then did he sigh with relief, collapsing back onto the bed as the adrenaline drained from his system.
By the time they reached the presidential suite, Jasmine was sleeping peacefully beside Bryan and Esperanza.
The children were curled up together, their small bodies nestled against each other in the large bed.
They had settled on sharing the same room because there were two bedrooms with needed privacy.
Seraphine’s eyes fell on the table full of different delicacies spread out like a feast. Her stomach instantly grumbled, the sound embarrassingly loud in the quiet room.
It was the first time Voren had ever seen her eat so much in the human world, her appetite usually restrained and careful. But the pregnancy had changed things, had awakened a hunger she couldn’t deny.
He watched her eat with a warm smile, glad she was finally nourishing herself after going so long without.
As soon as Seraphine finished, she pulled out her laptop, her fingers already hovering over the keyboard.
"You should be resting, darling." Voren’s voice carried concern as he trailed kisses along her face, his lips brushing her temple, her cheek, the corner of her mouth. But Seraphine smiled weakly, her resolve unshaken.
How could she let Curt and Brad off the hook? The two Alphas had sabotaged Liah’s show, had tried to ruin everything she’d worked so hard to build. It would have been better if they had ended up injured like Killian, broken and humiliated. But they had escaped relatively unscathed, and that didn’t sit well with her.
"Give me a little time." Her voice was soft but firm. "I have to take back all the money transferred to Coco and those two Alphas."
Voren raised a brow, already picturing what she was going to do to Brad and Curt. The last time Voren had been at the end of Seraphine’s wrath, he had lost billions. The memory still stung, a reminder of just how dangerous his wife could be when provoked.
Now, he was happy to be at her good side, to be the object of her affection rather than her fury. He sat beside her, watching as her fingers danced around the keypad with practiced precision.
The glow of the screen illuminated her face, highlighting the fierce concentration in her eyes. In fact, he was mesmerized, wondering how he got so lucky to have this woman in his life.
The woman was sexy when she was so busy, her focus absolute, her intelligence sharp and cutting. It made it hard for him to keep his gaze off her, to resist the pull of her presence.
Time felt like it had stopped when Seraphine finally closed her laptop, looking completely exhausted, dark circles under her eyes and her shoulders slumped.
Voren couldn’t bring himself to be greedy. His pregnant wife needed rest, and he needed to give her that. After tucking her into bed with gentle hands and soft touches, he pulled the covers up to her chin and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
He was about to lay beside her when his phone rang, the shrill sound shattering the peaceful silence.
Seeing Ravyn’s name on the screen, he wanted to ignore it, to let it go to voicemail and deal with whatever it was in the morning.
But his fingers slipped, his thumb sliding to the answer button instead of ignore, and Ravyn’s furious voice exploded from the end of the line.
"Voren, when did you intend to tell me that Marigold is mine?"
