Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever

Chapter 446 - 447 - You’re still just the side chick

Chapter 446: Chapter 447 - You’re still just the side chick

When Seraphine stepped outside with Corvine, that crisp mid - morning air hit them right away, wrapping around their skin like a sharp little reminder that it had turned chilly.

But after all the chaos they’d just been through, neither one of them wanted to go back inside those stuffy walls.

Out here in the open felt so much freer, like they could finally breathe without everything closing in on them.

Corvine headed straight for the car, popped open the back door, and pulled out a thermal flask.

A little grin tugged at the corner of his mouth while he unscrewed the lid, silently sending a huge thank-you to Vladimir for waking up at the crack of dawn just to whip up this fresh soup especially for Seraphine.

The whole gathering sprawled out across the open grounds under these massive white canopies, way more laid-back than the fancy stuff happening inside the hall.

Nobody was stuck in their usual rank bullshit. Alphas were chilling right next to Betas, Lunas were laughing with regular pack members, and visitors bounced freely from group to group.

The vibe felt relaxed on the surface, even though this heavy undercurrent of tension still hung over everything like a storm cloud that refused to leave.

Cocktail stations lined one whole side of the field, snack tables were piled high with way too much food, portable bars kept the drinks flowing, and cozy lounge spots were scattered all around for anyone who wanted to kick back and actually talk.

Corvine spotted an empty lounge area tucked nicely under one of the canopies and gently guided Seraphine over there. The second they sank into those cushioned chairs, Daisy popped up out of nowhere, like she’d been lurking and just waiting for her chance.

Corvine didn’t even bother glancing at her. He just poured the steaming hot soup into a bowl and slid it across the table toward Seraphine, his eyes going all soft and warm the moment they landed on her.

"Drink it while it’s still hot," he told her, his voice full of that protective care. "I’ve got another whole thermos in the car if you want seconds."

Seraphine took the bowl without any argument, and that rich, comforting smell rose up around them as she lifted the spoon.

After the first bite, she closed her eyes, letting this deep wave of warmth spread through her whole body. The chicken was perfectly tender, the broth seasoned just right, and for the first time all day, she finally looked like she could let some of that exhaustion melt away.

Daisy watched the whole sweet little moment with her lips pressed tight together, but her nosy side won out in the end. "You two really do look like an actual couple," she blurted out.

Seraphine didn’t even acknowledge her. She just kept eating, taking another slow spoonful, totally uninterested in feeding Daisy the attention she was so obviously fishing for.

Corvine, though, slowly turned his head toward her. A faint smile crossed his face, but there wasn’t a single drop of kindness in it.

"I’m honestly more surprised you’re still playing the role of Ravyn’s pathetic side chick," he said, his eyes dragging over her with pure mockery. "Don’t you have anything better to do with your miserable life?"

The smile vanished from Daisy’s face in an instant. "You don’t hold any position in this pack anymore, Corvine," she snapped back, lifting her chin like she was hot shit. "You don’t get to talk to me like that."

A low chuckle rumbled out of Corvine. "Actually, you’re dead wrong about that."

He leaned back all casual, crossing one leg over the other like he owned the place. "I don’t belong to this pack anymore, which means I’ve got zero reasons left to show any respect to its disgusting so-called leaders."

Daisy’s jaw clenched hard. "You..."

She squeezed her fists tight, fighting like hell to keep her cool, but you could see the rage building.

The Corvine sitting there now was nothing like the obedient Beta she used to know.

He used to take orders from Ravyn like an obedient puppy, but now he carried himself with this rock-solid confidence that could go toe-to-toe with any Alpha.

Ever since Seraphine left with him to the city, most of the Alphas talked about how powerful he had become, and now, Daisy was seeing it too.

But still... this wasn’t the city.

This was the pack, and here, Daisy was convinced rank was still the only thing that mattered.

"You might throw your weight around in the city," she fired back, forcing a smug little smile, "but here, ranks still rule everything."

"Maybe for you," Corvine shot back with a full-on confidence. "The hilarious part is..." He looked her up and down, not even trying to hide how entertained he was. "You don’t even have a real rank."

His grin got even wider. "You’re still just the side chick."

Daisy straightened up, fire flashing in her eyes. "The day after tomorrow, I’m getting coronated as Luna," she declared, every word dripping with over-the-top pride. "And when that happens, I’ll personally make sure you get cut off from every single pack connection you have left."

Corvine laughed. "If you’re talking about this shitty pack, then go right ahead."

He glanced around at the familiar grounds, pure disappointment washing over his face. "You know what’s actually embarrassing as hell?"

His gaze swept across everything. "This place still looks almost exactly the same as when Seraphine left it."

He pointed toward the stone walkway cutting through the compound. "I still remember how she personally rounded up all the omegas and had them plant flowers all along those paths with her own hands."

His eyes moved over to the nearby buildings. "And she helped design almost every important structure in this whole pack herself."

He shook his head slowly, the disappointment turning colder. "Nothing has changed. Which tells me none of you have done a damn thing except sit around on your asses this whole time."

He scoffed loudly. "Come to think of it, Seraphine should demand every single dollar she poured into this place back. Most of what you’re all bragging about was built with her own money."

The words hit Daisy way harder than she wanted to admit. She hated it, but deep down she knew he was right.

So many things everyone loved to claim as the pack’s big achievements had only happened because of Seraphine’s personal fortune. Even months later, they were still riding on her hard work.

Unable to fight back with the truth, Daisy went for the lowest blow she could find. "It’s not my fault she was some lovesick whore who threw her entire life away for a man who never even wanted her—"

The chair scraped violently against the ground as Corvine shot to his feet so fast that everyone nearby whipped their heads around to stare.

His eyes blazed with raw, explosive fury, veins popping along his neck while his hand flew up, ready to slap the words right out of her mouth.

Before he could swing, Seraphine gently cleared her throat. That soft little sound was all it took, and Corvine froze completely. His raised hand slowly dropped as he turned to look at her.

"Sit down, Corvine," Seraphine said leisurely, her voice calm but carrying way more power than any scream ever could. "She’s not worth it."

The anger stayed etched on his face for another long moment before he finally let out a heavy breath and sank back into his seat, still seething.

Only then did Seraphine raise her eyes to meet Daisy’s. Her expression stayed perfectly calm, almost soft, even. "Since you seem to have so much free time on your hands..." A faint smile curled the corner her lips. "Could you help me find my goldfish?"

She tilted her head just a little. "The last time I clearly remember seeing it, you were the one holding it."

The color completely drained from Daisy’s face. Her breath caught in her throat, and her eyes flew wide open in pure shock.
