Chapter 324: Mother Carrie

Inside the praying hall, hundreds of families are sitting on large wooden benches, their eyes closed and hands joint in worship, as an elder nun on the front pedestal readed something from an old book.

The environment was very calm and silent, a flowery smell covered the air and sunlight was shining through the church’s glasses.

“Vernen.” Everyone sitting inside the huge hall spoke in calm voice and unison.

“That’s it for today… May the lord bless you all with happiness and prosperity. Dear followers… Tommorow is a special day for us as it’s the ’Hulonion Festival’, we would like you to join us tomorrow in morning prayers as well and please try to bring your children as well if possible.

Those who bring their children to the church tomorrow will be given access to the special feast that we are holding. Thank you.” The elder nun spoke as she immediately stepped down from the pedestal.

As soon as the prayers ended everyone calmly started walking out of the prayer room and towards the Church’s exit.

Dinning Hall,

All the nuns are sitting patiently on their chairs and waiting for someone.

“Is the prayer still going on ?” A blonde nun who was sitting on the far left asked in alow voice as her eyes were completely focused on the food and her mouth was watering.

“Shut up… You are a nun now, sister Terisa. Don’t act like kids and don’t drool over your food.” The nun sitting next to her spoke in a strict voice.

“But-” before Terisa could’ve completed her sentence, the hall’s gates opened up and the elder nun entered inside the room with a young and very curvy nun assisting her in walking.

*Thud*

All the nuns immediately stood up from their places and bowed down to the elder nun.

“Mother Carrie.” All of them spoke in unison.

“You should’ve started without me. You have duties to do unlike me who is going to lay on a bed useless for the rest of the day.” Mother Carrie replied with a disappointed expression as she walked upto the biggest chair on the far right of the dinning table and sat down with the help of the curvy nun.

“Sit down everyone.” Mother Carrie replied with a neutral expression.

“Yes, Mother.” All of the nuns immediately sat down and grabbed each other’s hands tightly.

“Who’s turn is it today ?” Carrie asked with a smile.

“Mother… It’s my turn… It’s my turn.” Terisa spoke with a very excited expression, almost ready to jump out of her chair.

“Oh… Terisa,” Mother carrie spoke as the smile on her face disappeared immediately and an annoyed expression appeared but she forced back the smile once again, ” …very well then. Go on and say the prayer.”

“Yes… May God bless us and thank you for giving us food. Vernen.” Terisa spoke as she immediately picked up her fork and started eating.

“What ? That’s it ?”

“Oh my god…”

“Obviously it’s Terisa.”

“Okay okay everyone calm down and just eat your food.” Mother carrie replied as she also started eating her soup.

“Mother… The numbers were lesser today.” The curvy nun spoke with a neutral expression.

“How many ?” Carrie asked with a serious expression.

“Around ten people from last time. Three couples and four adventurers.”

“Hmm… This is becoming a big issue. Did anyone of them tell you why they stopped coming, sister Miola ?”

“I tried to come in contact with some of them but all three couples have already left the kingdom and the three adventurers didn’t even talk to me. They ignored me completely.”

“What about the remaining one ?” Mother Carrie asked with a serious expression.

“I talked to the remaining adventurer and he was very afraid, he said something about god being dead and that demons will rule everything.

Then he just ran away from me. I tried to chase him for a few meters but he was running really fast.” Miola replied with a neutral expression.

“I see… Marie is on it again.” Mother Carrie spoke in a low voice as she lowered her head in disappointment.

“Hey… Hey… Who is Marie ?” Terisa asked with asked to the nun who was sitting right next to her.

“She is mother Carrie’s sister… It is said that she made a deal with a very vicious demon and sold her soul to him just so she can remain young forever and now she works for him.

Her followers occasionally slip into our kingdom and try to poach our followers by offering them favours.” The nun explained with a serious expression on her face.

“Favour ? What kind of favours ?” Terisa asked with an utterly confused expression.

“Are you stupid ? Evil favours… Like they will cure your child but you have to sell your soul to that demon but we have never caught anyone.

No one talks about the favours or the ones who they recieved it from.”

“So… It’s just a myth ?” She asked.

“Well… I-I-”

“It’s not a myth… I have seen Marie, she is the walking sin of lust. Any man who sees her becomes bewitched immediately. No matter how strong of a will you have, no matter how high command you hold over your carnal desires… You will fall for her trap and if you did, your soul will be hers to sell to the demon.

She is an embodiment of evil on this holy land and it’s our job to keep our people safe from her dark hands. Do you all understand ?” Mother carrie asked with a serious expression.

“We understand, Mother.” All the nuns spoke at the same time.

“Good… I am done. I will be leaving now, prepare for tomorrow’s feast once you are done eating, I will prepare for the speech.” Mother Carrie spoke as she immediately stood up from the table.

“I will help you… Mother.” Miola spoke as she immediately stood up and helped her get out of the hall.
