Chapter 502 -251: Chief Contributor

He had been eliminated early on, so he didn’t know what had happened afterward.

Although he knew the chances were slim, he couldn’t help but ask.

Xi Nan, Mo Weng, and Yin Yongqin exchanged a glance, their expressions all a bit strange.

Seeing this, the other Councillors grew even more puzzled.

“Did something happen?”

Yin Yongqin cleared his throat and recounted the events that had transpired.

After hearing his story, the other Councillors stared at each other, unable to hide the astonishment in their eyes.

Although they had long expected Pei Ze to eventually master the Power of Spatial Rules, no one thought it would happen so quickly.

But after coming to their senses, Yi Nan and the others felt their spirits lift.

Perhaps this time, they truly had a chance at securing a qualification for the Holy Land.

“Before I came out, we were ranked sixth. Now, it all depends on whether Pei Ze can improve our standing.”

A sharp glint flashed in Xi Nan’s eyes.

The other Wizards also wore grave expressions.

It was no wonder they placed so much importance on it; qualification for the Holy Land was a matter of great significance.

If they could enter the Holy Land, their success rate for breaking through to become a Rule Wizard would increase by at least thirty to forty percent.

Their own power was at stake, so they couldn’t afford to be anything but serious.

The living room quickly fell silent.

A few minutes later, Pei Ze’s eyelids suddenly twitched, and then he opened his eyes.

Instantly, all eight Wizards in the room snapped their gazes toward him.

Yi Nan, even more eager, shot to his feet and immediately asked, “Pei Ze, how did it go?”

Under everyone’s expectant gazes, Pei Ze smiled slightly and nodded. “Fortunately, I didn’t fail the mission.”

As soon as he said this, everyone’s expression lit up with joy.

Even someone as calm and seasoned as Xi Nan had a bright light shine in his eyes.

“Good, that’s great!” Yi Nan’s face was overcome with joy. Then, as if just remembering, he asked, “What place did we get?”

“First place,” Pei Ze said. “However, the Peak Level 6 Wizards from Silver Stream City, Mingying City, and Green Forest City are still inside, so the final rankings might change.”

Pei Ze didn’t think that taking out over twenty Nightmare Serpents would be enough to seal their victory.

He could unleash a burst of power at the cost of ‘sacrificing’ himself, and the other four Peak Level 6 Wizards could do the same.

Not to mention, Silver Stream City had two Peak Level 6 Wizards.

Pei Ze estimated that Chenxi City’s best possible result would be second place. Barring any surprises, first place was most likely destined for Silver Stream City.

Hearing Pei Ze’s words, Xi Nan and the others were somewhat surprised.

They had thought fourth or fifth place would be their best outcome, but they never expected Pei Ze to rocket them straight to first, even surpassing Silver Stream City.

How many Nightmare Serpents did he have to kill to achieve that?

For a moment, everyone’s gaze toward Pei Ze was tinged with awe.

Xi Nan quickly recovered, smiling and waving his hand. “It doesn’t matter. No matter how things change, we won’t fall out of the top five. We’ve definitely secured our qualification for the Holy Land.”

Everyone else deeply agreed.

Even if Silver Stream City, Mingying City, and Green Forest City all surpassed them later, Chenxi City would only drop to fourth place.

As long as they secured a spot to enter the Holy Land, there was no difference between first and fourth place.

“Regardless, this is all thanks to you,” Xi Nan said, looking at Pei Ze with a smile.

“That’s right.”

“If it weren’t for Pei Ze, we probably would have ended up somewhere below tenth place.”

“You’re our greatest contributor.”

Yin Yongqin, Ji Zhang, Yi Nan, and the others all voiced their agreement.

Mo Weng also watched Pei Ze with a cheerful smile, his eyes filled with gratification.

Pei Ze was, without a doubt, the key to them obtaining a Holy Land qualification this time.

Just as they were joyfully conversing, Mo Weng’s expression suddenly changed. He raised an eyebrow and said, “The Alliance’s envoy is here.”

As his voice fell, a spatial rift suddenly tore open in the void in a corner of the living room, and a middle-aged man wearing a violet robe stepped out.

His gaze swept around the room, pausing on Pei Ze for a moment. Then, he placed a hand on his chest in a salute and said with a smile, “This session of the Holy Land qualification competition has concluded. Congratulations to everyone from Chenxi City for securing the excellent result of second place.”

“My name is Mu Xiang. I have come on the Alliance’s orders to deliver the key that opens the Holy Land Gate.”

As he spoke, Mu Xiang held out an object that looked like a plant seed.

Xi Nan’s expression turned serious as he stepped forward to accept the seed.

“Thank you. We appreciate you making the trip, Envoy.”

“Chairman Xi, you’re too kind,” Mu Xiang replied with a slight smile. “Also, according to Alliance regulations, you may choose to enter the Holy Land at any time within the next ten years. However, each person’s stay is limited to a maximum of three years. Please arrange your schedules accordingly.”

Xi Nan and the others already knew this and quickly acknowledged his words.

After relaying this information as per procedure, Mu Xiang didn’t linger. He gave a smiling nod to the group, then turned and walked back into the spatial rift, quickly disappearing from sight.

After he left, everyone’s gaze simultaneously focused on the Holy Land key in Xi Nan’s hand, a fervent glint in their eyes.

Pei Ze was no exception.

This was their hope of ascending to become Rule Wizards!

Before anyone could speak, Xi Nan said, “Everyone, Chenxi City cannot be left without its Councillors. I suggest we enter the Holy Land in two batches.”

Everyone nodded, having no objection to this proposal.

The Dawn Council certainly couldn’t have all its Councillors enter the Holy Land at once. Otherwise, if something were to happen, the consequences of being leaderless would be unpredictable.

Yin Yongqin glanced at Pei Ze and said with a smile, “I think we should let the young man go into the Holy Land first. We old folks have waited this long; a few more years won’t make a difference.”

Mo Weng nodded with a cheerful smile.

The others had no objections either.

After all, Pei Ze was the greatest contributor to their success in the Holy Land qualification competition, so he naturally had the right to enter first.

Besides, waiting an extra three years was but a fleeting moment for Sixth-level Wizards, whose lifespans were measured in tens of thousands of years.

Pei Ze didn’t bother with false modesty and readily accepted.

He certainly wouldn’t refuse an opportunity to increase his strength as quickly as possible.

However, now was definitely not the time to enter the Holy Land. He had just come out of an intense battle, and although he wasn’t injured, Pei Ze was still somewhat exhausted.

It would be best to rest for a few days and return to his peak condition before entering the Holy Land.

…

Time flew by.

Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.

「Wizard Tower, Meditation Room.」

Pei Ze sat cross-legged on the floor, staring at the data fed back by the Eye of Omniscience.

[Rule of Lightning: 20.41%]

[Rule of Space: 0.18%]

His comprehension of the Rule of Space was still progressing at a snail’s pace; he hadn’t even reached one percent yet.

However, Pei Ze wasn’t discouraged. On the contrary, his anticipation only grew.

The Holy Land qualification competition had already proven the power of the Rule of Space.

If he could break through by mastering the Rule of Space, he would instantly become a top-tier existence among Seventh-level Wizards, and his chances of breaking through to an even higher realm would be much greater.

‘Everything is ready. Now I can enter the Holy Land.’

‘I hope the Holy Land doesn’t disappoint me.’

Pei Ze rose to his feet and stretched his body.

‘Once I ascend to a Rule Wizard, the construction plans for the Floating City should be put on the agenda.’

Pei Ze glanced at the Crystal Traces on the surrounding walls.

The All-Knowing Wizard Tower had been modified nearly to the absolute limit for a Wizard Tower. In terms of both endurance and combat capability, it crushed all reinforced large Wizard Towers.

A single Secondary Elemental Melting Furnace was enough to leave all other Wizard Towers far behind.

In the Holy Land Illusion Realm, if he had been able to use his Wizard Tower, Pei Ze was confident he could have faced the Mother of Nightmare Serpents all by himself.

But no matter how powerful or perfect the modifications to the All-Knowing Wizard Tower were, it was ultimately inferior to a Floating City.

The latter could be called the greatest Alchemy Creation of the Wizard Civilization, bar none.

A Floating City enhanced a Wizard’s combat power no less than a Divine Kingdom enhanced a Divine Spirit’s.

A Wizard who possessed a Floating City had a deterrent force equivalent to that of an advanced civilization, all on their own.

However, this immense power came with an astronomical construction cost.

The resources required to build a Floating City were so enormous that they could bankrupt an entire intermediate civilization.

Even among Rule Wizards, not everyone could afford a Floating City.

Many Rule Wizards spent entire epochs without successfully building their own Floating City.

‘A Floating City, huh…’

Pei Ze shook his head and didn’t dwell on it. That was a matter for after he became a Rule Wizard.

For now, he had to focus his mind on comprehending the Rules.
