Chapter 367: Chapter 199: Red Dragon God Chasssa, The Gate of Demons
However, no one showed any sign of relief. Everyone’s expression remained grim.
They all knew this was just the appetizer. The trial of the third level would definitely not be this simple.
And that proved to be the case.
The second eyeball on the right of the blood-red giant door quickly shut. A roar rang out, accompanied by the thudding of heavy hooves, and a towering figure charged out from behind the door.
The newly appeared monster was centaur-like, with the body of a man fused to a horse. It wore a suit of complex, full-plate armor that completely covered both its human and equine halves, with only a few tufts of short, stiff fur visible in the gaps.
Its exposed face was pale and sickly, dripping with a nauseating, yellow-green pus.
"An Iron Cavalry Demon!"
Pei Ze raised an eyebrow. They were a notoriously warlike race among demons; both males and females reveled in combat.
A single Iron Cavalry Demon’s combat power was roughly equivalent to the Third Level of Gasification, but even a Level 3 Liquidation Wizard would find it a tricky opponent.
ROAR!
The Iron Cavalry Demon roared to the heavens, brandishing a heavy chain flail as it charged wildly at Pei Ze. In the next moment, it was shredded into a fine mist of blood by a metallic storm of silver stars.
By this point, Pei Ze had a preliminary understanding of the blood-red giant door’s function.
The giant door was, in essence, a Summoning Array connected to Hell, and the eight eyeballs on its frame represented the number of summons.
Each time an eyeball closed, a demon would be summoned from the blood-red giant door.
And with each summons, the demon’s power level increased.
’Level 2 Crystallization, the Third Level of Gasification... The next ones should be Level 3 Liquidation and Level 3 Crystallization.’
And events unfolded just as Pei Ze had predicted. The next two summons produced an Ape Demon and an Evil Spirit Demon, respectively, their combat power matching his estimations.
’The question is, what level of demon will appear on the fifth summons?’
Pei Ze’s gaze was fixed on the blood-red giant door.
So were the other Wizards.
’If the pattern of escalating levels continues, wouldn’t the fifth demon be at the fourth level?’
’That’s obviously impossible.’
’That wouldn’t be a trial, it would be a slaughter!’
’And if the level isn’t increasing, it must be the number.’
Sure enough, in the next moment, three enormous, bloated figures flew out of the giant door.
An indescribable stench spread in an instant, causing the Wizards to wrinkle their brows in disgust.
However, they had no time to dwell on it, their eyes locked on the monsters before them.
Each new demon was little more than a malformed face the size of a carriage. Where its ears should have been, a pair of atrophied arms protruded. Its body below the neck was replaced by a large, tangled mass of coiling, twisted folds and tubes. Four iron chains ending in sharp spikes extended from its body, hanging straight down and swaying with its movement.
"A Giant Skull Demon!" a Wizard exclaimed in a hushed voice.
Giant Skull Demons, like Evil Spirit Demons, were Level 3 Crystallization demons. They possessed astonishing vitality and a spell-like ability similar to a psychic assault, making them incredibly difficult to handle.
Three Giant Skull Demons appearing at once would be an arduous battle for most of the Wizards present.
Fierce fighting instantly erupted in the hundred-plus squares, and the sounds of explosions echoed endlessly.
Pei Ze stood his ground, his expression calm. Without any visible movement from him, the metal spikes floating in front of him suddenly multiplied—one becoming ten, ten becoming a hundred, and a hundred becoming a thousand. Then, three ancient runes appeared and transformed into lightning that coiled around the spikes.
In the next instant, the dense swarm of metallic spikes swept forward, engulfing the three Giant Skull Demons like a torrential downpour!
In a single clash, the three Giant Skull Demons were obliterated, leaving not a trace of bone or ash.
In a square diagonally behind Pei Ze, Gong Quanhai happened to witness this scene. His eyes widened in shock, his face a mask of utter disbelief.
