Chapter 349: Chapter 194: Have You Figured Out How to Compensate Me for My Loss?
Fortunately, the sensation wasn’t too intense. Pei Ze didn’t even frown as he focused on the changes in his body.
After about ten seconds, the strange feeling faded away.
Pei Ze immediately summoned the Eye of Omniscience.
’Current Thunder Elemental Affinity: 23.2 (Max: 25)’
"My affinity increased by 0.6."
Pei Ze was very satisfied.
While an increase of 0.6 was much smaller than what he’d gotten from the blood-strengthening potion, his Thunder Elemental Affinity had been below 15 back then. Now, it was 22.6.
The higher his Thunder Elemental Affinity, the harder it was to raise.
To gain another 0.6 after passing the 22-point mark was already a rare feat.
"Not bad. Another seven or eight potions should get me to the limit of 25!"
A thrill of excitement went through Pei Ze.
Coming back to his senses, he resumed crafting the potion.
Unfortunately, his luck didn’t hold out the second time. He failed to properly time the fusion of the ingredients at the final moment, and the potion was a failure.
Undiscouraged, Pei Ze disposed of the waste and continued crafting.
His third attempt also failed, but having learned from the previous two failures, Pei Ze finally succeeded on his fourth try.
After drinking the second Thunder Elemental Affinity Potion, his affinity smoothly increased to 23.6.
"An increase of 0.4, huh? That’s acceptable."
"Let’s keep going!"
Pei Ze took a deep breath and threw himself back into his potion crafting.
With two portions of Elemental Crystal Dust left, he was determined to craft at least one more Thunder Elemental Affinity Potion.
...
BOOM!
A bolt of lightning fell from the sky, striking the ground and sending shattered rock and dust flying everywhere.
A figure streaked past like a beam of light, dashing through the dust cloud without pause and sprinting into the distance.
The flashing lightning in the sky illuminated the figure, revealing an Elf Maiden with silver hair, pointed ears, a delicate face, and fair skin. She appeared to be about eighteen or nineteen years old.
The Elf Maiden’s face was etched with anxiety and panic. She kept glancing back over her shoulder as she ran.
When she saw more than a dozen figures in relentless pursuit, the Elf Maiden’s face grew even paler.
’Damn it! These people stick to you like glue! I can’t shake them!’
The Elf Maiden bit her lip, her heart racing with anxiety.
In that moment of distraction, a piercing sound cut through the air behind her. The Elf Maiden’s expression changed drastically. Without hesitation, she activated her ability. A faint silver light enveloped her, and she vanished from the spot.
A second later, more than a dozen globs of black liquid struck the ground like cannonballs. With a SIZZLING sound, they instantly corroded a crater several meters in diameter into the earth.
The Elf Maiden reappeared a hundred meters away, a chill running down her spine as she witnessed the scene.
WHOOSH!
More than a dozen figures instantly appeared around her, surrounding her completely. They watched her with cold, sharp eyes.
"Julis Werner, you can’t escape anymore. Surrender quietly."
The speaker was a strikingly beautiful female elf, who also had long, pointed ears.
But unlike Julis, this female elf’s hair was dark purple, and her skin was jet-black. Paired with her stunning figure and beautiful features, she possessed a demonic and strange sort of beauty.
The other dozen or so women had a similar appearance.
It was obvious that these were all Dark Elves!
Surrounded by over a dozen Dark Elves, Julis’s heart sank to the depths. Still, she did not choose to surrender. Instead, she tightened her grip on her Elf Longsword and gritted her teeth. "Enough talk! If you’re going to kill me, do it! I would rather die here than become a sacrifice to the Spider Goddess!"
"That’s not for you to decide."
The lead Dark Elf snorted coldly and lunged at Julis first.
The other Dark Elves exchanged glances. Five of them joined the assault on Julis, while the other seven took a step back. Each of them drew a dagger with a hilt wrapped in spider silk and strange patterns engraved on the blade, watching Julis with wary eyes.
Though both were part of the Elf Race, Dark Elves excelled at combat and assassination, while Silver Moon Elves were masters of Space Magic.
It was precisely this specialty that had allowed the Silver Moon Elf before them to escape their grasp time and again. Otherwise, she would have been captured and used as a ritual sacrifice long ago.
To prevent their target from escaping again, they had come fully prepared this time, specifically bringing Spider Shadow Daggers that could block planar travel and long-distance spatial movement.
With these seven Spider Shadow Daggers, the target would have no chance of escape this time.
The Dark Elves looked at Julis with a mixture of mockery, greed, and burning desire.
Within the Elf Race, the Silver Moon Elves were second in status only to the Radiant Sun Elves.
If the latter were the royalty of the Elf Race, then the Silver Moon Elves were the nobility—and high-ranking nobles at that.
The great Rose would surely be very pleased with a Silver Moon Elf as a ritual sacrifice.
That was why they had traveled thousands of miles, chasing her all the way from the Dark Territory to the Thunder Elemental Half-Plane, just to capture this Silver Moon Elf Maiden.
Julis’s fighting skills were refined. It was clear she had received systematic training and fought in many hard battles. Combined with her short-distance spatial blinking ability, she was elusive, swift, and extraordinarily agile.
But that was all.
One-on-one, she was confident she could kill any of the Dark Elves present. Against two, she was confident she could gain the upper hand.
But against five, she was completely outmatched. Right now, she could only barely hold on; her defeat was just a matter of time.
’Damn it, if it weren’t for those Spider Shadow Daggers...’
Julis glanced at the daggers in the hands of the surrounding Dark Elves and secretly gritted her teeth.
"Stop your pointless struggles!"
The lead Dark Elf suddenly appeared behind Julis, her dagger glinting coldly as it struck like lightning toward her lower back.
"So what if you die? We have ways to bind your soul all the same."
"I advise you to just accept your fate. It is your honor to enter the great Rose’s Divine Kingdom and become one of her Prayerers!"
A fanatical light shone in the lead Dark Elf’s eyes.
The other Dark Elves also wore fanatical expressions, as if becoming a Prayerer was the greatest honor they could imagine.
’A bunch of lunatics!’
Julis barely managed to dodge the sneak attack from behind. Seeing the morbid fanaticism on the Dark Elves’ faces made her scalp tingle.
’No, if this keeps up, these lunatics will wear me down and kill me here!’
’I have to risk it all!’
Julis gritted her teeth. The silver light flashed around her body again, and she abruptly vanished.
But this time, it wasn’t as smooth as before.
The instant Julis used her spatial ability, one of the Dark Elves holding a Spider Shadow Dagger suddenly threw it.
The dagger flew four or five meters before abruptly disappearing. A moment later, a muffled grunt was heard. Julis, who had just reappeared a hundred meters away, staggered upon landing and nearly fell to the ground.
Looking at her left shoulder, a dagger had appeared there at some point.
The blade was buried deep in her flesh. Pale spider silk spread out from the hilt, wrapping around her left shoulder, her left arm, and half of her torso.
The bone-deep agony twisted Julis’s pretty face, and cold sweat dripped from her brow.
She struggled to stand up and continue running, but in the next second, she was kicked to the ground, and a cold dagger was pressed against her neck.
"Let’s see you try to run now!"
A cold sneer sounded in her ear.
Several Dark Elves rushed forward. One of them, expressionless, plunged a Spider Shadow Dagger into Julis’s other shoulder.
The Elf Maiden let out another muffled grunt. As the spider silk spread, her body went limp. She had completely lost her ability to fight and could only glare hatefully at the group of Dark Elves.
The lead Dark Elf, Putana, paid her glare no mind, a mocking expression appearing on her face.
"It’s too late for regrets now. You have only yourself to blame for overestimating your abilities. A lone Silver Moon Elf daring to come to the Dark Territory... you were truly courting death!"
Julis bit her lip, silent with indignation.
Just then, a voice suddenly rang out.
"Whether or not she was courting death is debatable, but you all most certainly are."
"Who’s there!"
The sudden voice made the Dark Elves tense up. They immediately tightened their grip on their weapons and looked in the direction of the sound.
’Someone managed to get this close to us without any of us noticing?’
Under the wary and astonished gazes of the Dark Elves, the empty space nearby suddenly distorted, as if an invisible curtain had been pulled back to reveal the figure of a man.
The man was standing in front of a long table, holding a beaker filled with a dark blue liquid.
Looking at the failed concoction in his hand, Pei Ze sighed. When he turned his head to look at the group of Dark Elves, his eyes were filled with an icy coldness.
"You’ve made me waste a portion of Elemental Crystal Dust. Have you figured out how you’re going to compensate me for my loss?"
