Chapter 310: Chapter 183: New Hatred and Old Grudges, Burning Rune Disintegration

Pei Ze raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips as he watched the two men.

He’d figured it out. These two had also come for the Netherworld Crow Swarm in the valley, and their objective was most likely related to the Power of Death.

So, upon finding the Netherworld Crow Swarm gone, they’d set their sights on Wuyu.

After all, Wuyu had just finished evolving and wasn’t yet proficient in controlling its newfound Power of Death. The dense aura of death surrounding it was so thick it was almost tangible, making it impossible to hide from them.

But of course, Pei Ze had no intention of trading Wuyu away.

"Then I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you. My magic pet is not for sale."

Hearing this, Pei Shijie’s eyes narrowed. A cold smile touched his lips. "Perhaps you should reconsider, sir? We can offer you a satisfactory reward."

His last words carried a faint, yet unmistakable, threat.

Pei Xingxu also stared at Pei Ze, his gaze icy.

Their research on the unholy artifact was at a critical juncture. No matter what, they had to bring back a suitable test subject. The Netherworld Crow Swarm was gone, which meant they were determined to get this magic pet that had awakened the Power of Death.

As if oblivious to their threats, Pei Ze just smiled faintly and said suddenly, "You’re from the Pei Family, aren’t you?"

When Pei Ze had first seen Pei Shijie and his companion, he’d noticed their attire was very similar to the three Pei Family wizards he’d encountered before. Running into two groups of similarly dressed wizards within a thousand-li radius of Awo Castle forced him to consider the connection.

So, on a whim, he decided to test them with his words. He hadn’t expected that the moment they heard him, their expressions would change dramatically. Without another word, they immediately cast their Magic and attacked.

FWOOSH!

A murky gray ray of light shot across the void, streaking toward Pei Ze like an arrow.

At the same time, a colossal, jet-black hand, four or five meters long, materialized from thin air and slammed down toward Pei Ze with a furious gale.

’Dissociation Technique, and Bigby’s Flying Palm Strike.’

Facing the fierce assault, Pei Ze’s expression remained calm and composed, and he even wore a strange smile.

’I can’t believe it,’ he thought. ’It was just a random guess, but I was right.’

’These two really are wizards from the Pei Family!’

Amused, Pei Ze’s movements were anything but slow. A silver liquid metal shot from his hand and split in two. One half solidified into a shield before him, its surface crackling with lightning.

The moment the gray ray struck the shield, the lightning dimmed, but it flared back to full intensity an instant later.

Meanwhile, the other half of the liquid metal rapidly formed a massive metal spike. It tore through the air and slammed into the giant hand, piercing straight through and annihilating it with unstoppable force.

Seeing Pei Ze effortlessly block both of their Magic, Pei Shijie and Pei Xingxu were stunned. They immediately realized that the man before them was not to be trifled with.

Suddenly, a realization struck Pei Shijie, and his eyes flew wide.

"Silver Star, Lightning Runes, and that Crow Magic Pet... You’re Pei Ze!"

At these words, Pei Xingxu froze for a moment before the realization hit him as well.

It was true. Pei Ze’s wizard tool was rumored to be Silver Star, and he was known for his mastery of Lightning Runes. Moreover, his Crow Magic Pet, famous for its ability to summon thousands of derivatives, was legendary.

’Who else but Pei Ze could possess all three of these traits?’

At this thought, Pei Xingxu’s eyes also widened as he stared at Pei Ze.

Seeing their reaction, Pei Ze no longer bothered to hide his face and removed his mask.

Once they saw his young face, any lingering doubt vanished. The color drained from their faces, replaced by a ghastly, livid pallor.

As some of the few remaining Level 3 Wizards in the Pei Family, they knew more than most.

For example, the evidence the Council held regarding the Pei Family’s research into unholy artifacts was rumored to have been provided by Pei Ze himself.

It could be said that Pei Ze was largely ’to thank’ for the Pei Family’s fall from grace.

As a result, every surviving Wizard from the Pei Family who knew of this hated Pei Ze to the core.

If not for their family’s decline, they would have stormed Chenxi City to kill Pei Ze themselves.

They just never imagined he would show up here, in the Shadow Realm.

Suddenly, another thought occurred to Pei Shijie. His face darkened as he stared at Pei Ze and snarled through gritted teeth, "Yuri and his men... did you kill them too?"

Pei Ze merely smiled faintly, offering no reply.

But his attitude said it all.

At this, the rage and resentment in the hearts of Pei Shijie and Pei Xingxu burned even hotter.

Old and new hatreds combined, and the two could no longer restrain themselves. With dark expressions, they charged at Pei Ze.

"I’ll kill you today, you little bastard!"

"You people from the Pei Family are so unoriginal. You say that every time."

Pei Ze chuckled disdainfully, meeting their charge without a hint of fear.

Countless metal spikes materialized from thin air, crackling with lightning as they formed a metallic storm that swept toward Pei Shijie.

Simultaneously, Wuyu shot forward with a powerful flap of its wings. Its body swelled as it flew, as if being inflated, rapidly expanding to a height of two meters. It raised its claws, which glinted with a cold light, and swiped viciously at Pei Xingxu.

Although Pei Xingxu had already sensed that Wuyu was no ordinary creature, he hadn’t truly taken it seriously.

’After all, no matter how powerful, it’s just a magic pet. I’m a dignified Level 3 Wizard. Why would I need to fear a mere magic pet?’

But once they truly clashed, Pei Xingxu discovered just how wrong he had been.

The Power of Death wielded by this Crow Magic Pet was terrifyingly immense!

The few Sixth Ring Spells he cast were annihilated by the surging Power of Death the moment they came within a meter of the creature.

Meanwhile, a single, casual swipe of its claws tore through several layers of his magical defenses.

If not for the protection of his defensive wizard tool, that one swipe would have been enough to wound him.
