Chapter 300: Chapter 178: The Innkeeper Rainbow Dragon, The Vampire’s Embrace
"The ability to see through an Illusion Technique, and the scent of the Power of Death... a very rare magical pet."
The blond young man looked Pei Ze up and down, a strange glint flashing in his eyes.
"You’re clearly only a Second-level Wizard, yet your Spiritual Power has already reached the standard of a Level 3 Wizard. This is the first time I’ve ever met a Wizard like you."
"You flatter me," Pei Ze said, placing his right hand over his chest in a salute.
According to the information from his Eye of Omniscience, the blond young man was even more powerful than Mo Weng. He was estimated to be at least at the Sixth Level, and may have even begun to touch upon the level of cosmic laws.
A Rainbow Dragon of this strength would be, at the very least, a mature adult dragon.
An adult dragon was between 200 and 400 years old. This meant the blond youth before him had likely lived for two or three hundred years—old enough to be his great-grandfather, and then some.
Whether in terms of power or age, the man deserved his due respect.
"I am quite fond of Wizards. They are the most dedicated pursuers of knowledge and truth in the entire Multiverse."
The blond young man gave Pei Ze a slight nod and a gentle smile.
"Welcome to the Rainbow Inn, young Wizard. My name is Yidar, and I am the owner of this inn."
"It’s an honor to meet you. I’m Pei Ze."
Although he was curious why a Rainbow Dragon would be running an inn in Awo Castle, Pei Ze had no intention of prying. After requesting three guest rooms from Yidar, he followed a servant toward the second floor.
It was worth noting that all the servants in the inn were Dragon-men.
The Dragon-man leading Pei Ze’s party of three had light green scales and dark green skin. Her build was rather slender for a Dragon-man, clearly marking her as a female.
"Sir, this is your room."
Arriving at the door, the female Dragon-man bowed slightly to Pei Ze.
Perhaps because she had seen her master’s appreciation for Pei Ze downstairs, she was extremely respectful toward him, not daring to show the slightest neglect.
"Our inn provides complimentary breakfast. If you would like some, simply use the Communication Crystal in your room to inform us."
"Thank you," Pei Ze said coolly, then changed the subject. "Is there a place to trade goods nearby? A larger one, preferably."
The female Dragon-man answered without hesitation, "Yes, there is. Turn right when you leave the inn and walk straight for about eight hundred meters. You’ll find a plaza. It’s the largest trading venue in the settlement, and many outsiders trade their goods there every day."
Pei Ze nodded in understanding. With a flick of his finger, two Magic Crystal Stones landed in the female Dragon-man’s palm.
"This is for one month’s rent. The rest is a tip for you."
"Thank you, sir!" The female Dragon-man’s face lit up with a grin.
The settlement used a wide variety of hard currencies, including Soul Crystal Stones, Magic Stones, and Gemstones.
The most popular, naturally, were Soul Crystal Stones.
They were a hard currency throughout the entire Multiverse, so there was never a shortage of people who wanted them.
Next were Magic Stones.
Not just the Star Realm Alliance, but many other planar civilizations also used them as a medium of exchange.
As for Gemstones, their purchasing power was relatively weaker. Moreover, only Gemstones that could be used as enchanting materials were recognized as currency.
Besides these three, there were other currency equivalents, but their circulation was more limited, and some shops did not recognize their status as such.
A premium room at the Rainbow Inn cost only 60 Magic Stone Coins per day, which amounted to 1,800 Magic Stone Coins for a month.
Two Magic Crystal Stones were equivalent to 2,000 Magic Stone Coins. After deducting the rent, 200 Magic Stone Coins remained. This was a hefty tip, so it was no wonder the female Dragon-man was so delighted.
Pei Ze said no more and waved his hand, dismissing the female Dragon-man.
After a simple night’s rest, Pei Ze took Su Ya and their companion to the Trading Square the next day.
When the square came into view, Pei Ze could feel the bustling atmosphere from several hundred meters away.
The entire square was ring-shaped. The inner circle was lined with gray cloths spread on the ground, displaying all sorts of goods. Behind the cloths sat bizarre-looking beings from various races, their cries and shouts rising and falling in a constant cacophony.
The sales method was primitive, but highly effective.
The square was packed with people, creating a lively and noisy scene.
Pei Ze weaved through the crowd, examining the items on the gray cloths with great interest.
In a trading place like this, which gathered so many different alien races, one could often find items that were rarely seen otherwise.
This was why Pei Ze had come to look around. If he was lucky, he might just find some rare treasures.
’Magic Light Stone, a common material for crafting Tier Four Witchcraft Artifacts.’
’A Level 3 Energy Core, a common power source for High-Tier Golems. It can power a Refined Gold Golem’s daily activities for about half a year.’
’A Heart of Elements, a necessary material for creating an Element Pool.’
After browsing for only a short while, Pei Ze had already spotted no fewer than ten types of rare materials.
With nearly 300,000 Magic Stone Coins on him, he bought everything without a second thought.
These materials would all be useful when he built his Wizard Tower in the future.
Just then, a sudden commotion erupted in the distance.
Pei Ze turned toward the sound and saw a group of non-humans gathered around a two-meter-high wooden stage, chattering and whispering among themselves.
On the stage, a Red Demon with crimson skin and two horns was shouting loudly.
Pei Ze raised an eyebrow and walked over with Su Ya and their companion.
"...Everyone here is in luck today! We have two extremely rare and precious items for sale, and I guarantee none of you will be disappointed!"
As they drew closer, the Red Demon’s booming voice reached their ears.
Pei Ze’s interest was immediately piqued.
There were plenty of rare items in the square, and the crowd had grown accustomed to seeing ordinary treasures. For this Red Demon to call them "extremely rare," the items he was about to present must be truly valuable.
The non-humans around the stage thought the same. The moment the Red Demon finished speaking, someone immediately laughed and jeered loudly.
"Paratun, cut the crap! Hurry up and show us the goods! If you’re just blowing hot air, don’t blame me for teaching you a lesson!"
The surrounding crowd also hooted and chimed in agreement.
The Red Demon named Paratun was completely unfazed. On the contrary, he puffed out his chest with confidence.
"Rest assured, everyone! When has the Awo Trading Company ever disappointed?"
’Awo Trading Company?’
Pei Ze’s heart stirred. From the name, it seemed to be a trading company run by Awo Castle itself.
At this thought, his anticipation grew even more.
And Paratun didn’t keep them in suspense any longer, beginning his introduction of the first item.
"The first item is the gift of a First Embrace, personally offered by the great Lady Cassia! The one who wins this gift will be personally embraced by Lady Cassia herself, gaining immortality and immense power!"
As soon as he said this, the surroundings fell silent for a moment, followed by a massive uproar.
"A First Embrace? And by Lady Cassia herself? Did I hear that right?"
"My goodness, if that’s true, then it really is a rare and precious opportunity!"
"No way, I can’t miss such a rare opportunity! Damn you, Paratun! If you’d said so earlier, I would’ve started gathering the money!"
The crowd was in an uproar.
Pei Ze listened to the chatter of the crowd for a while and gradually understood the situation.
The "Lady Cassia" Paratun mentioned was one of Awo’s three great generals, a vampire who had lived for over five thousand years.
Unlike Annie, this Lady Cassia was a pure High-tier Undead, not a Wizard.
She was said to possess power at the Sixth Level.
’A vampire’s First Embrace...’
A glint flashed in Pei Ze’s eyes.
The so-called "First Embrace" was a ritual in which a vampire bit a living person, drained their blood, and then injected their own blood into the victim’s body through the wound, turning them into a vampire as well.
Vampires were Undead and had lost the ability to reproduce. The First Embrace was the only way they could create offspring.
Depending on the power level of the vampire performing the embrace, the recipient would also receive a corresponding boost in strength.
However, at the same time, the recipient would become the vampire’s fledgling, their life and death henceforth controlled by their creator.
Some powerful vampires would occasionally use this method to create capable fledglings.
